There is a deafening bang as Avise suddenly bursts into the room, almost rattling the door off its hinges!
AVISE: [Puff, Pant] Wait, Pagani! I'll take it off your hands if you don't want it!
MICHELE: ...why on Earth would you want it in the first place?
AVISE: ...The Lotus was my favourite Bond car of the lot?
MICHELE: Eh, whatever. [tosses keys over] Knock yourself out, I for one don't need trout blocking my exhaust.
Avise leaves, whistling a jaunty tune and spinning the keyring on his index finger. Agapita is waiting outside.
AVISE: Great work, Agapita! At last, a sports car of my own! Now, I'm finally on something like an equal footing with the rest of the handlers. Your cyborg ear really elucidates the important things.
AGAPITA: Thanks, sir! [beams, and then shifts feet sheepishly] Would this mean that I could, uh... take fitness off for a few days...
AVISE: Why, of course! That's the least I could do!
AGAPITA:
AVISE: After all, you'll need time to wax and clean it for me and I wouldn't want that to eat intro training time.

I can see a disgruntled Agapita making the logical decision that since she's the one who cleaned the muddy carpets and dead fish out, and then waxed it she should be able to take it out for just a short drive...AVISE: you'll need time to wax and clean it for me and I wouldn't want that to eat intro training time.

I actually don't mind the colour scheme (and the ski-racks are awesome, I need some like that for the Alfetta), but "007" logo would have to go. If it had been better integrated into the rest of the colour scheme I could have handled it, but here it's just slapped on.

The car is destined for a starring role in the supernatural thriller, which is being shot in Michigan over the next few months. Built in partnership with Classic Design Concepts, a limited run of 50 units will be made available to the public later this year. The Firebreather is powered by a 650 horsepower V8 motor and will sell for $60,000 when limited production begins.

And a bargain at €360,000.
G Motors Article.
U.S. based TranStar Racing is working on a new supercar called Dagger GT. In the heart of this new very limited supercar is a big block twin turbo 9.4 litre V8 multifuel racing engine that delivers an unbelievable 2000 horsepower on race fuel and 1300 hp on regular fuel, peak torque is up to 2,710 Nm.
0-60 mph(97 km/h) is expected to come in 1.5 seconds, quarter mile in less than 6.7 seconds(that’s as fast as Pro-stock NHRA racers) and top speed is over 483 km/h.
And a bargain at €360,000.

Sounds very interesting but having read the article I'll believe it when I see it. Remember all the 1980's hype around the Vector W8...purported to top out at 240mph? It didn't. How about Dodge's claims that their V-10 Tomahawk motorcycle could potentially hit 400mph? It never exceeeded 24mph in real life.Kiskaloo wrote:U.S. based TranStar Racing is working on a new supercar called Dagger GT. Best of luck to their endeavour, but I think TransStar's targets are a bit speculative considering there isn't a single running prototype yet.

Re: OC Dream Garage
Elio has the rotating weekend "alert fratello" duty, meaning he must stay on compound and be ready to deploy with his cyborg on a moment's notice if some emergency pops up.
As he lounges in his office he watches the classic 1971 film Le Mans, reminiscing about cars he watched race in his youth.
With no classes or training on the weekend a few cyborgs wander over to the office building to see what the adults are up to, and end up watching the film with him.
Marisa: Those cars look way different from the modern cars we watch racing on TV.
Elio: These generation of sports cars...Ford GT40's...Porsche 917's...Ferrari 512's...are the last top level race cars to be designed purely by pencil & paper. Every shape since then has been created in a wind tunnel.
Kara: Why didn't they use a wind tunnel?
Elio: They existed for aircraft design, but sports car teams didn't start to use them until engines were downsized in the mid-70's. These cars were the last to come purely from the imagination of a designer...the final expression of art & function before the advent of technological simulations to test the concepts.
Britney: They are sort of pretty; do you think I could get one in pink?
Elio: Funny you should ask...

Why does Allison want a Shelby-built Mustang of eras bygone? Because of movies like Bullitt and Gone in 60 Seconds. Smokey and the Bandit has also made her consider tracking down a Pontiac Trans Am.
Both versions of The Italian Job have also conspired to make Allison lust after a Mini Cooper, new or old.

No doubt any fratello getting around in one would, at the very least, have a turbo installed.

the US spec engines produced at best 140 bhp the Euro spec ones 170 bhp, this led to a 0-60 time of 10.5 sec on the US model and about 8 sec on the Euro model, which was resonable for 80's car,but it was the suspension changes that really ruined it,not much use in having a Lotus designed chassis if you stick on soft shocks and raise the ride height and therefore the centre of gravity

The new build DMC-12s are available with a performance suspension package. Wikipedia says the car's height was raised (on the originals) to comply with US safety laws, so that may still be a problem.

As to the Delorean... I like it, but only really in so far as I enjoyed Back to the Future. Its torpid performance could in part have been due to the fact that it was somewhat heavy for a sportscar at the time. The same engine did pretty well in stuff like the Renault Alpine A310V6:

With that attitude, it's going to be a long and difficult road. But as the "Riding In Cars With Boys" vignette suggests, Allison gets him one of these in return to help him along:
The Mitsubishi Starion 2600 GSR-VR. Normally, 0-60 is 6.8 seconds, but with Allison's tuning, it's certainly going to be much faster than that; and if Jay applies some fancy footwork while he's on a date with Allison, her clothes will go from 'on' to 'off' in under five seconds.

Had Jethro been feeling a bit weirder when he was in the market for a rally-hack, he may well have bought one of these.
Two of my uni tutors had them... after one convinced the other (who's blog I can't remember) that he should get one too.
I just hope that now that Saab is in the hands of Spyker they will go back to being cutting edge and awesome rather than something that dentists buy.

Eeeehhh.... can't say I'm keen.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Stratos, in fact it's probably my favorite car. Ever. Which is likely half the issue: I love the Stratos, so hands off and leave it alone.

Re: OC Dream Garage
So long as it's kept (mostly) the same with a simple update of the components to modern standards, I'm game. Plus, I would really like to see if it will make a run on the WRC.

Re: OC Dream Garage
On an otherwise calm day, we see Allison running and hollering incoherently and generally acting like a loon in the parking lot. Grabbing her car key fobs, she hits the 'panic' buttons, setting off all her car alarms in celebration and making more of a ruckus as she yells victoriously.
Allison: WOOOOO! WOOOOOOO! YEAH, WOOOOOOO! WOO-HOOOO!
As she begins cartwheeling and celebrating like a soccer player in a "FIFA" video game, Jethro peers out the window of the office he and Monty currently occupy.
Jethro: What's got her knickers in a twist?
Monty: I think I have the answer, guv. I just did a scan of her web history... she was watching this:
Jethro: Ah. Very good, then. She's just excited.
Monty: Excited and annoying. Could you please tell her brother that if he doesn't do something about this right quick, all her tires will be flat by sundown?

Re: OC Dream Garage
I like Jay's attitude about horsepower and fuel economy, expressed around 7:30 (counting down). The two can co-exist...in fact the performance cars community should be leading the way in this area instead of resisting it.
This runs counter to what we see on Top Gear, where Jeremy Clarkson often irks me with his whiny, defeatist attitude about the future of performance cars. Both are funny guys, but Leno is right and Clarkson is wrong...the cars of the future will be more enviromentally efficient, and will continue to get faster.
Okay...rant off .

Re: OC Dream Garage
Honestly I think this attitude is more the character that Clarkson sells than anything, because it rides through his newspaper columns and so on as well. Whineing's what he does... just watch "Grumpy Old Men" (the BBC TV series, essentially a bunch of blokes sitting around complaining for half an hour, which is suprisingly entertaining). Besides, lets face it: Top Gear's really more entertainment these days than a car "review" show, and I've no issue with that. You throw it on to watch three grown men acting like children but if I want actual car information I'll go elsewhere.Professor Voodoo wrote:This runs counter to what we see on Top Gear, where Jeremy Clarkson often irks me with his whiny, defeatist attitude about the future of performance cars. I'm liking the direction Jaguar has been taking of late... The XK, the XF, the new XJ and now the C-X75 concept to celebrate the marque's 75th anniversary:
Would look pretty sharp next to Michele's XJ-220 or Elio's XF-R, would it not?

Only problem is that I already know two blokes with originals and would cop all sorts of crap for not having a "real" three wheeler...

seems it has a 90 hp engine and will get up to 100mph,so i'm guessing it probably has a 5 speed car gearbox on it

Re: OC Dream Garage
Well... the original with just the 2-speed box was notably pretty quick in the day as well and held a number of speed records. However, I just don't think a 2-speed car would be saleable these days, vintage nostalgia or no. Ditto things like manual timing advance and needing to lean out the side so it doesn't tip over in corners.Awinnell wrote:Alfisti wrote:
