...wasted one with my katana. it had no chance to run.
nitroshrooms and fire herbs? sweet! I thought they were useless...
haven't seen an option to upgrade my mine... just fields, shrooms, fishing, and a boat. the cat next to the mine said something about 'mining points' ...
I've been getting pokke points off of account items in gathering quests... training is quicker?
...nice job with the lizard... quicker than my katana job, even. how'd you perma-upgrade your health/stamina? that extreme long-distance sprint looks handy... also, how do you capture PSP video?
**edit** it won't let me combine flashbugs and gunpowder
...looked it up... I guess it's 'bomb material' that I need... wazzat?

I did the health/stamina thing by eating food cooked by my cats. For that much health, you need 5 cats though...

Yeah, my bad. Flashbombs are made by flashbugs and bomb material. You can buy bomb materials from the old lady, or you can make it with stone + sap plant.
Mining points are usually gigantic X's or slashes found on walls.
I captured the video using Custom Firmware 3.71 M33-3 and iRshell 3.7 with Remote Joy Plus.

so... I finally caved in to all the hype and bought Portal. and finished it. and had fun. quite a lot of fun.
The only two gripes I have are: a) too short (but still for $20), and b) The adware that installs with it (Steam. 'content delivery system' my ass) can suck the barrel of my .45.
anyway... I now fully understand the phrase "The Cake is a Lie"... however, I feel I must point out the inaccuracy of said phrase.

Ahhh I miss my monster huntin days... Kut-ku genocide was my favorite pastime, especially since they uused to annoy the hell out of he when I first started.
Anybody have any idea when Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G is coming out in english (if at all)? I just lost all my data for MHF2, which sucks since I can't be bothered playing another 40+hrs to get back where I used to be.
On another note, any Ace Atrorney Fans in the house?

What they mean by, "The cake is a lie" is:
- Spoiler:
- You're promised the cake, but you'll never get it. It doesn't literally mean that the cake in question doesn't exist.
Btw, you guys do realise that it wouldn't be too difficult to run Wii games on a PC, right? You just need to get some drivers (and an input slot) for the sensor bar and find some way to emulate the Wii's API. Or something like that, basically you can do the same thing as with any other console or as WINE does with Windows.
And when I say too difficult, I mean "not impossible".
Meh.

Re: Vidya games!!
one would think that emulating the Xbox would be easier than the Wii, what with it running a modified version of Windows CE... never looked into the 360, but if you could emulate it at least the hardware wouldn't get a chance to 'piss itself and die' (I still can't believe Microsoft decided to start actually building hardware, considering their reliability track record with mere software).
as for the cake...
as for the cake...
- Spoiler:
- I know I'm arguing semantics here, but I refuse to accept the accuracy of the statement... by your argument, the promise of cake is the lie, not 'the cake' itself. The cake is an object, not an idea. Objects cannot be lies, for lies are intangible.
A more accurate (but wordier) way to make the statement would be: "Don't believe the promises about the cake. It's all lies. LIES! LIES I TELL YOU! LIIIIIEEEEES!"

I hear ya. About 3/4 of all the people I know who have gotten a 360 have had to get it repaired or replaced due to the Red Ring of Death. One friend has even had 3 separate replacements.

Re: Vidya games!!
Emulating the X-box is actually quite simple so long as you can strip the driver files from the system BIOS. After that it's all up to graphic acceleration.
The 360 however is a bitch and then some. The PS3 and 360 were rigged to require constant firmware upgrades making emulation nigh impossible as the code keeps changing. Without an IC, a release PS3 or 360 will not play releases from 2009 or even as early as 4th-quarter 2008. The Wii on the other hand is free of these complications.
Aas far as a connector for the Sensor Bar, I think something could be jury-rigged out of a USB cable and an couple of adapters. Otherwise, we may need MacGuyver.

I've never had a problem with Dells. Compaqs on the other hand... Oh, and then there's the skimpy Gateway, though they may have changed that now. Anyway, I think it's easy to sum it up by saying, it's a Microsoft product.

build it yourself, and you'll have no problems... I've never seen a desktop with a brand name attached that wasn't either a piece of crap, or three times the price of its components.
Laptops, on the other hand... The US government is stupid enough to use Dells... their batteries and power supplies fail on a regular basis, and they produce more excess heat than all the sand in Kuwait (okay, that was an exaggeration... but you get the point).
I've owned two laptops, a Compaq (which is just an HP with a funny label) and an actual HP. The only issue I have with either is the same as every laptop built since the advent of 3D gaming: SLOW VIDEO PROCESSING!
...okay, with the exception of laptops that cost over $3000 and will burn your legs off with their excess heat.

Actually, my laptop is an eMachines, and it has awesome video processing and a 2.8 GHz Pentium 4. Unfortunately, the chassis is literally failing apart now and it's only a few years old. I think it's going to take plastic cement to save the screen. :crying:

Ahhh there's nothing like reviving a topic. ^_^
Yesterday I beet a game called ICO. I got it for my birthday on September 3rd. I didn't play it every day so roughly it took me 5-6 days to compleat. (It's a 7 hour game and it took me 9 hours to finish)
It's an amazing and beautiful game. The sad thing is that it's really obscure and it's nearly impossable to find because it's not made anymore.
When I beat the game I didn't cry, I simply stared in awe.
Watch this and tell me it doesn't look amazing!

Re: Vidya games!!
Anyone here play War Front: Turning Point?
No, I don't mean Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, that game needs MAJOR
revamp and a very-very talented model and voice actor to fix
everything--and I mean every piece of plot line into the correct way.
Still, its a good alternate universe shooter...but not something I'd
recommend.
Anyway, currently am racking up old games like Close Combat: First to
Fight (I love this game. Although its very difficult to get promoted. I
just reached Corporal by the 3rd level--I think you need to capture as
many OPFOR as possible but then again...OPFORs are so stubborn).
But primarily, I'm playing War Front: Turning Point
So anyone else playing?
Trailers (War Front):

-Allied Trailer-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGxvxlt1-BM&feature=related
-Russian Trailer-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk97LBiWAcU&feature=related
There's also a German trailer, but some redneck white boys who think all Germans were Nazis seem to ban them. I'll have to get my hand on those on the official site now. Its a good game similar to the old Command and Conquer and--somehow--I want to believe that it doesn't need a patch at all. Personally I love the Germans with their armor and exoskeleton. Jet pack troopers were also deadly in close range. But I also like the Allied for its Air Superiority as they have the most advance aircraft. Oh! Germany have giant zeppelins!
I don't like using the Russian...its all too infantry-esque as its tank were weak. The Kharkov and the Giant Turret is possibly some of the few things worth making. Their airforce sucks, their tank comes cheap but could be easily wrecked.
What I really want from this game is a mod-tool. I want to realistically resize the infantry and flight height of the plane. The tanks handle just fine...

Heh, i just beat that game very recently, a friend of mine told me that if you replay it you can read what the white chick is saying a la Wind Waker.
But yeah, apart from some frustrating parts where i had no clue what to do, this was a very satisfying game, the last boss was very cool.
Now to play SotC.

as for the game... looks like a very run-of-the-mill Command and Conquer-style RTS with a post-WWII alternate history sci-fi twist. Also, it's trying for the StarCraft Formula (3 completely distinct sides, without a power imbalance), which no one to date has successfully reproduced (I doubt they'll even reproduce it in StarCraft II).

They showed a lot of "power" units in the gameplay video they showed but they nerfed pretty everything to hell after they got feedback from the players, it was too much C&C.
They are on the right track right now.

It is. Yet its games like these that kept the old tradition going. I find it very much enjoyable and I do recommend it^^. No offense, but C&C3 is rather off compare to the old strategy game like Red Alert 2--have to praise the graphics though.

Re: Vidya games!!
the only C&C game I ever really enjoyed was Generals... and only because they got relatively close to the StarCraft Formula. Then Zero Hour came out and ruined the balance.

Re: Vidya games!!
Generals' a good game. Build, en-masse your armor, send them all and kill those fools! HAWHAW!! Somehow I remember the plot in Generals start with the U.S, then the U.S got its butt handed by the GLA, and GLA eventually by the Chinese. I love the U.S airforce...the Allied forces seems to always have the best air power.
But yeah, other than Generals is there any game C&C game you've tried?
EDIT: Damn, somehow if I have the right modding tools I want to mod BF1942 and combine it with War Front: Turning Point's units. That'll be cool...driving a sonic tank and killing tanks with relative ease or use the Russian Kharkov and start blasting away with all 5 turrets

Re: Vidya games!!
the original (with and without expansion... played it back in high school, 'bout 1996)
...Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2 (all with and without expansion sets... I own the 'First Decade' collection now)... Renegade doesn't really count, I suppose...
aaanyway, I sorta liked the original a long time ago. The Red Alerts and Tiberian Sun always felt like cheap knock-offs, but then, so did the Covert Operations expansion.
I've given each title in the series its fair chance, and the only one I haven't found completely lacking is Generals, without the Zero Hour expansion.

If so, I recommend you War Front: Turning Point senpai! Its a good game and I think it did the SC formula well...

Re: Vidya games!!
Just got the second FEAR expansion, Perseus mandate. Some guys told me good things about it, i was bored and thought what the hell.
Also, Ninja Gaiden 2 is, in several aspects, much easier than the first game. With all the bitching on how impossible the game apparently was, i was kinda disappointed.

Eh I've never been much on RTS, so all this talk of it is more or less lost on me. I did pick up Mercenaries 2 recently, and must confess to greatly enjoying exploding everything in the world. Hijacking Helicopters, and Tanks is pretty damn sweet if I do say so myself.

Re: Vidya games!!
so anyway, I spent most of the day playing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on Wii...
And yes, I got to pull a frigging star destroyer outta the sky.
...however... The Jedi Knight series, this is not. Think of it as God of War meets Star Wars with a KotOR-esque storyline. The controls are rather simplistic and limiting in terms of force power control... though the new force grip functionality is pretty cool (and could totally be applied to a Jedi Knight styled game... which would be much more awesome).
the duel mode puts a lot of fighting games to shame, too. I likey. I want a Jedi Knight-esque PC remake now.

Re: Vidya games!!
One thing i learned with the Force Unleashed is that half of the Empire´s military budget goes on explosive crates.
The charm of the game is definitly in the force powers, there´s no slicing whatsoever in the game, except in the quick time events which is simply not the same thing, the combat itself is limited and even redundant which if you played The Jedi Knight series like LoC, you´ll be disappointed in that aspect.
The storyline, however, is pretty good and better than most crap that Lucas is doing with the franchise at the moment (The clone wars). I´m a sucker for enticing storylines so that´s a big plus for me.

So, anyway... I'm finally caving in and getting a PS3 tomorrow (found a used 60GB... I wanted backwards compatibility and 4 USB ports. picky, picky...).
And for the first time since the death of Motor City Online, I'm getting back into racing games (so much cheaper than real cars...). Specifically,
DiRT
and GRID:

Re: Vidya games!!
oh yeah... Force Unleashed... beat it in two sittings... I think a little over six hours of gameplay.
- Spoiler:
- I did like the story, with its tragic ending and explaining the beginnings of the Rebellion... but it was a very short game... I think God Of War: Chains of Olympus took me longer to beat...

But that's not my only peeve about it, it's just generally annoying...

Re: Vidya games!!
That'd be the computer RPG Knights of the Old Republic (and 2)... which was much more for the storyline and humor than anything else (and HK-47. 'cause he's the most awesome droid ever written/created). Honestly, I was more miffed that they went with a hit points system rather than a proper vitality/wound system like Star Wars D20... and I believe you could see your rolls if you tweaked an option or two. I could be mistaken about that, though.
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (or Dark Forces 4, as I like to call it) was an action game through and through. The stats went purely by percentage (100hp, 100force, 200shields=full).
*takes a breath*
[/starwarsgeekmode]
also, PS3 iz fun. DiRT and GRID are quite difficult games. Difficult in a good way. Also, I got Conan (which is like... God Of War: Mortal) and Soul Calibur 4 (in which I spent hours on the character creator)...

Re: Vidya games!!
Yeah, it's a far from perfect game system. Almost the "D&D" to "AD&D" of Star Wars D20 (which is sad, since the game does all of the calculating and rolling for you).
So basically, if you can't get into the story to the point where combat is merely an obstacle to advancing the plot... don't bother. It may take a total Star Wars geek to feel that way, though.

I made KoToR 2 a challenge for me by making a blaster jedi. Then I found out with certain upgrades dual blasters end up trumping sabers. Poor Trieya got blasted more than Greedo.

As long as we get Raven software to put the realistic saber combat command back in the game. Oh I loved the Jedi of Fortune code that let you kill stormtroopers for just TOUCHING your lightsaber.

indeed. All I want is the old style of controls from the Jedi Knight series with the updated physics and force grip functionality of Force Unleashed (with some backtracking on the saber physics, like you said. they used to be much more precise). And Pummel, because it is awesome.

Re: Vidya games!!
You guys will be very happy with me. I went to the mall today and tirelessly searched GameStop for SotC. I looked for over an hour and I finally left and went to another store. (The one time I'm actually going to buy it of corse they don't have it) In the other store I asked th girl that worked there if they had it and she said yes. I got it for 20 bucks and it's brand new. ^____^ I can't wait to play it!!
