Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
I cried when i saw the movie Twilight.
And not because i was enveloped in sad emotions, in fact, i´m pretty sure it was more burning than hate itself.

Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
Okay so there are a lot of movies that have made me cry, and a few series as well. I must confess though there is one movie that didn't make me even get teary eyed. Which was in fact Grave of Fireflies. I know, I know it's tragic, but it just didn't tug on my heart strings.
Movies that have made me cry: Forest Gump, Schindlers list, the Bucket List [despite thinking much of it], The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, Philidelpha, Princess Mononoke, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissuo, The Diving Bell & the Butterfly, and so many more
Series is a shorter list. There was Haibane Remini, Gunsliner girl, The end of Cowboy Bebo, Full Metal Alchemist [you know when], and that's about all I can think of.

Don't know about crying, but I seem to wear a couple of mm off my teeth whenever Rico and Jean have a scene.
I think I cried a little at the end of Berserk. Pretty bad stuff.

I didn't cry, but I did tear up on occasion this week watching Coraline in the not-home theater and WALL-E in the home theater.
Both movies were epic good.

Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
Schindlers list was touching, especially the ending. Episodes of some anime (namingly Natusme Yuujin and Shigofumi) also moved me to tears.
Voice of the Distant Stars was a huge impact, but I did not need a bucket for tears -- For me, the emotion it elicits was a profund mix of sadness, awe, and longing.
Wall-E almost drove me to tears on the airplane. But another awesome moment, when the captain wrestled for countrol with the bot, superceded the sad parts in my memory because of the song "So Spake Zatrazucha" from 2001 A Space Odessey.

Honestly, I think I'm messed up because... I don't cry for movies... Only once that I can remember... It was a weekend that my father had me and we went to see Dragon Heart and he always left us in the movies and picked us up after they were done... (I don't wanna know what he would do when we weren't around...) And I remember crying because the dragon sacrificed himself and became a star. I really cried, I think, because I just wanted to be home with my grandma... Heh...

Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
...Now you messed up this whole thing...like everytime (^_~) Holy shit the film won three Oscars! I think you must be a brave actor ( when you´re not gay) to play an gay role ... and if you an gay actor and refuse to play a gay role you are an coward... and I admire Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal that they had the heart to do this!
I mean if you love ( and I´m talking about love not sex) a person does his gender really matter even it´s not natural? (I know that´s sounds kinda naive from a girl that doesn´t have any experience in this kind of things and everything... but.... whateverl... that´s my opinion to this issue...)
Fuckin´hell I hate it when I sound that Childish....

IMO opinion, it doesn't matter. And I believe homosexuality is a natural process (at least in part) and not one that only occurs through (implied "immoral") environment or upbringing.
So I do not believe two people who enter into such a relationship do so only out of a conscious effort and desire to be in such a relationship. Therefore, I also do not believe that such feelings can be "willed away" through something like prayer or "faith".
So I tease about it (hopefully not going too far when I do), but then I tease about heterosexual relationships as well.

Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
feh. braving social ridicule is overrated. if more people were just honest with themselves none of it would be a big deal. the reason people like me make fun of brokeback mountain is because its supporters made such a big deal of it. such an obvious grab for attention is hard not to make fun of. it's the equivalent of someone grabbing you by the shoulders, shaking you and screaming "ACCEPT ME!"... of course you're not going to accept 'em if they do that, they're obsessing, and obsessing over something is a very quick way to not be understood. By anyone.
also, it was a 'love story'. not my cup of tea to begin with, because I find love and sex to be completely unrelated. as soon as hormones get involved, love isn't love anymore, it becomes a selfish desire for sexual fulfillment.
and no, I don't think it's wrong to desire sexual fulfillment, nor is it wrong to love. it's just tragic when people confuse one for the other... which happens constantly, and has throughout history.
and as for homosexuality being natural:
Gay octopus porn?
you can draw your own conclusions from that.

Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
As to the whole 'homosexuality being unnatural', well it depends on what you believe. If you're atheist, then the evidence leans towards it being natural somewhat... Christian, then it isn't natural. Not one bit. Most religions agree with that.
Hindu/Sikh/Buddhist/many religions that believe in reincarnation have an explanation for it (making it natural). That being, it's caused by you being a different gender in a previous life.

Lol, no offence taken. I lol'd.
@TTIO: Catholicism sees it as natural, now. To the extent where they believe people are created homosexual, and do not choose to be so, but they still do not condone homosexual behavoiur at all. So pretty much, you're meant to be chaste your whole life if you're gay. Doesn't make any sense to me. But it's better than nothing, I guess. Lol.
I'm Catholic, but I don't believe everything I'm told blindly. And because I know homosexuality is a natural thing, I see nothing wrong with it at all.

There's Catholocism and Catholocism... kinda the way there's Islam and there's Islam. When people pay attention to, study and follow the texts their religion is based on, they tend to be a bit more tolerant.
When it's passed down in tradition by word of mouth, you wind up with terrorists, rednecks and shit like this.

Not everyone in Nazi-Germany wanted to be a Nazi. Its because there's a rule: 'if you don't join you join the concentration camp'who cares what the Catholic Church thinks ,after all the Pope used to be a Nazi !
Being a German in those time requires you to join the Hitlerjugen. Its mandatory.
Yes that's true Nacht. That and everyone else. So, praying for a change or a good 1 on 1 talk is a valid solutionI think Jesus would strongly disapprove of persecution of homosexuals. Do unto others and all that.

lol... I love how folks say "the Catholic Church" like it's some kind of single entity or hive-mind... there are as many disagreeing factions in that body of people as there are in Islam. Hell, how many catholics these days actually speak Latin? How many outside of Italy speak Italian? You can't debate theology very well with folks from the Vatican if you can't speak the language.

Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
Well I suppose the official canon of the Roman Catholic Church as defined by Papal Decree and Vatican Law would be how the majority of the public would define as "the Church's" stance on an issue.
So has said canon stated that the Roman Catholic Church now sees homosexuality as a "natural occurrence", at least as it applies to mankind?

If you apply that to the rest of the animal kingdom, it's practically a free for all.
You can tell two gay dogs to stop and they'll just look at you and laugh. It was one of the funniest moments from my childhood watching my Uncle Jesse and Aunt Rosie trying to do just that.

Look it up.
I haven't heard it at church (not that I've been in forever) but have read it on the internet. Someone else told me about it first, and I checked, and it turns out to be true.
They refer to homosexuals like "alcoholics who can't help but drink" or something -_-.
So as far as I know, yes it's canon. Doesn't mean they like gays, though.
And lol, most animals engage in homosexual behaviour. Ducks do. They also s*x dead ducks of the same gender. Dolphins do. They also have orgies, anal and blowhole sex. Even deer do.
So, if humans=the rest of nature, homosexuality is A-OKAY.

Well 2 years ago my friend and I asked our religion teacher if someone could be a priest if he was gay? She said yes but they can't act on it. So basically you're going to hell if you act on being gay/lesbian. Yeah, "God excepts everyone" and "Catholics love everyone for who they are" is such nonsense. Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
The only move I cried at because it made me sad was Star Trek III. Why? The blew up the Enterprise. I ended up crying so loudly that I had to be taken from the movie theater by my mother and her friend.
Two movies I gave a manly triumphant cry to were Rudy and Wings of Honneamise.
I also cried at Revenge of the Sith, just as I cried at the other prequel movies and half of Return of the Jedi -- but that was not so much because of the movies themselves, as what Lucas did to the franchise.

Really?! I cried at the end of Revenge of the Sith because it was the last Star Wars movie ever, and what happened to all the Jedi, and when Anakin killed the younglings...
What Obi-Wan said was heartbreaking and I burst into tears.
"You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! Bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness!"
"You were my brother Anakin... I loved you..."
Just thinking about it makes me teary eyed... Revenge of the Sith is my favorite Star Wars movie. Lucas did an AMAZING job bringing these two trilogies together in this one spectacular movie.

See THAT'S what I'm talking about.
Based on sentimental value alone, the prequel trilogy will never be considered on par with the original trilogy. I mean after all, you're up against Harrison 'fucking' Ford; Luxembourg has a better chance of taking the Cup than some young bucks topping one of his performances.
Episodes 1-3 HAVE to be judged by their own merit and not by comparing them to Episodes 4-6.

Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
I actually just remembered this but...
Like I said before, movies and plays and stuff don't really get me crying but...
I have a little story about a video game that made me ball like a baby!
In 1998 Yoshi Story was released in the US on N64. Cherubino was 7 at that time. Her brother had bought the game and Cherubino was always fond of watching her brother play video games. Finally, he beat the game and Cherubino was watching it. My brother was really disappointed with the ending but Cherubino was not. She loved it so much, that she started crying, because it was so beautiful to her. The Super Happy Tree was saved by the 6 (or sometimes 8) little baby Yoshi's. Even now, as she plays Brawl she hears the ending song and cries a little. Oh geez... I'm tearing now...

She loved it so much, that she started crying, because it was so beautiful to her. The Super Happy Tree was saved by the 6 (or sometimes 8) little baby Yoshi's. Even now, as she plays Brawl she hears the ending song and cries a little. Oh geez... I'm tearing now...

Had this been a thread about 'games that have made you cry', I would've submitted a story almost totally akin to yours, Cherry.Cherubino wrote:In 1998 Yoshi Story was released in the US on N64. Re: Ever cry because of a movie?
Oh, just remembered another, though it's not a movie...
The ending to the manga Chibi Vampire made me cry. Not full-on sobbing, but I just kind of sat and stared into the fire thinking about it, and soon I was crying. It probably wouldn't be too much for a normal person, but it hit home for me...

Aww just spill it man. I don't think anyone will mind. And I'm sure we will be richer for the experience.
