Anyway, here's the Einstossflammenwerfer, a disposable one-shot flamethrower good for a half-second's worth of flame. Designed by the Germans in 1944.

it was shit because it was a Volkssturm (National Militia) weapon built under the Primitiv-Waffen-Programm ("primitive weapons program")
it did have a SMG the Volksmaschinenpistole ("people's submachine gun")
that was based off the Sten gun(it self a named the "Plumber's Nightmare")
hell the weapons built in occupied Poland
The Błyskawica (Lightning) 700 built in occupied Poland
The K pattern flamethrower built in the hundreds (in one workshop of Antoni Więckowski in Warsaw alone, there were about 400 produced)

That's CornerShot. A badass piece made by an equally badass Israeli, it allows the user to mount a weapon on it and shoot around corners. There's even a little screen to let the user aim the weapon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CornerShot
Apparently there are versions that allow the M16 and even a 40mm grenade launcher to be mounted. Nothing to be sniffed at

Fun fact: A Nerf gun (the Sneak Shot) featuring the CornerShot concept appeared almost a decade before the real CornerShot was invented.

That one was an epic fail because it was an actual airsoft gun with a barrel that could go round corners and had a mirror that helped in aiming. When you force the air through a bent barrel, you can imagine that the projectile (or whatever you call it) comes out with less force, so the sharper the angle the less the projectile will fly. Also, the mirror was basically a mirror on a stick and fell off easily. The fact that it was discontinued speaks volumes

Can't argue with any of that; I never said it was a good gun.

Well, the Krummlauf only had fixed angles (30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees, I think) and it literally was a bent barrel. Naturally the life of the barrel wasn't that long. 60 years on and I'd say the Israelis improved on the idea

I expect part of it is for sealing purposes and the ammunition might be different (as I recall, Soviet underwater rounds were more similar to darts to improve their hydrodynamics).

? ?
I'm looking at the site now and it says that they use the 7N6 or 7N10 or 7N22 rounds for above water fire and the PSP rounds for underwater fire. I suppose they did design the PSP rounds for some emergency above water usage but from what I'm reading they do need to change their ammo before they go above water

A .22 belt fed mini-machine gun based off an M4 frame, another excellent weapon against armies of rodents.
And a punt gun, I'm not sure if it's a really large shotgun or a small cannon
The WASP knife, a knife that shoots a blast of compressed air into the wound, causing it's unfortunate victim to practically explode
A knife that's also a gun
Ok, an M249 SAW is hardly unconventional, but this method of firing it is
But never try that with a shotgun.

Here's an odd weapon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FP-45_Liberator
The odd part is that its primary purpose was that of psychological warfare. An Axis soldier would be pretty worried if potentially any one of the civilians around him had one and was ready to kill him for his rifle.
Even odder still is that the people are willing to pay hundreds, if not thousands of dollars today for something that was manufactured for $2.40 back then

I actually wanted to give one of my OCs a Liberator, just for the hell of it (disguised by the thinly veiled excuse that it is a very small, easy to hide back up weapon) but I decided it was TOO impractical, and just gave up.

The WWI-era Russian Lebedenko Tank AKA the "Tsar tank"
An Russian attempt at a tank designed in 1914 (before the first British and French designs), with the first prototype built in 1915. The vehicle was built on a tricycle assembly with 9-meter tall front wheels intended to drive over obstacles. The tank was intended to be armed with machine guns and light cannons in four turrets, a cannon turret on top and three MG turrets on the side and bottom. When the vehicle was first tested, the rear wheel got stuck in a ditch due its weight in combination with an inadequate engine. The project was abandoned in 1917.

Remember that there are hundreds of failures for every successful design idea.
I can't say that I wouldn't be intimidated at first by that thing above, but I would quickly realize that the wheels are susceptable to arty or explosives, and an immovable tank is a poorly placed and extremely vulnerable pill-box.

A proposed WWII German oversized tank, never actually built, the P-1000 Ratte. Armed with two 280mm (11 inch) naval guns, two 128mm anti-tank guns, 8 20mm AA guns, and 2 15mm machine guns, equipped with armor that could have only been pierced naval gunfire and aerial bombing and powered by two U-Boat engines, the Ratte was more a land battleship than a tank. Intimidating and lethal to land forces without air support, but, had one actually been built, i suspect it would have been very vulnerable to aerial bombing.
Ratte fact sheet, translated from German.
More info on the Ratte, with a scale model compared with model tanks and trains.

its top speed wouldn't be that great either,it could only be used on open land,so mostly against the Soviet forces, and would sink in the mud at the first drop of rain,it's tracks would be another obvious weak point, break one with a mine or anti tank gun and it grinds to a halt and can you imagine the sort of equipment you would need to repair a broken track on that thing ?
