Ugggg raking,  bane of my existence. Any yard work actually...I wouldn't mind it so much if it weren't for the fact I've ripped my hands up with a machete clearing brush... 

But seriously Ohio...it's where you can experience all seasons in one week. I swear the weather here is a sadist.

Looks like you've never lived in central Texas. Or apparently even here for that matter. It's supposed to be 20-25 °F cooler on Wednesday than it will be tomorrow--which is 10 °F warmer than it was today.

Oh, and I agree. Raking sucks.

Been to Texas. Not recently, but it was nice.

But I mean literally it will be 70F one day, 40 and rainy the next, 30F and snowing the third, 45F and sunny on the fourth before going up to 90 the next few days. You just cant win!

It's....30Fs here and with windchill in the teens....yay Ohio!

Right now its 26F tonight, its going to be 6F with a chance of snow, and last night it was -3F

32C today. Fortunately there's been a decent breeze blowing so my apartment's remained pretty cool without needing to resort to aircon. Which has had the added bonus of being able to stick my head out the window to watch the Marines fly their V-22s over the place.

Expected 39C Sunday though.

So, the chapter of J+M's next story I'm currently in the process of editing opens on a hot, muggy, tropical evening... seems the weather has decided it wants to help me get into the mindset, so has been replicating the feat: hot, damp, overcast has been the order since the weekend...

...until this afternoon, when it stormed just a I was leaving work, with enough vehemence to cause flash flooding and break the rail system for two hours.

I've heard of method acting, but ... method writing?

Guess it was fortuitous that I wasn't able to get 10 days straight off this Thanksgiving holiday and come down and annoy you.

Was nice yesterday, but when I woke up at 4am to catch the Formula One finale it was pouring rain. If nothing else, it should annoy the Arizona Cardinals when they play the Hawks this afternoon.

Probably rained for ten or so. Flooded my local railway station so I wound up walking home from work, since the traffic was pretty snarled as well.

We often get serious wind storms on Thanksgiving Day, but looks like just overcast and rain this year.

The results weren't great: lifted the roof a bit at work and fritzed the aircon, which made it a bit warm in the office today, and it looks like the BMW might have taken one to the nose where the hail blew in under my apartment block. That said, I got off pretty lightly: there were plenty of insurance claims and potential write-offs in the work car-park today, and various bits of tree or parts there of being removed from windows and roofs... and various bits of windows and roofs being removed from the street.

While we do not have Brisbane's wind, we are currently experiencing Brisbane's rain so plenty of flooded streets this morning as I re-fueled and picked up supplies because...


...a cold front is due tonight with sub-freezing temperatures so this pounding rain could turn into pounding snow.

Its just cold here...though knowing Ohio we could get a random monsoon season for a week or two.

Depends on whether or not any storm systems that hit the West Coast or north decide to come visit...which they tend to like to do...

Storybook snow right now: huge soft flakes drifting gently to the ground. Sunday the forecaster says it will be up in the forties and raining, but for now, winter is good.

Flooding and freezing temps... yeah, could do without that. At least here things dry out pretty quickly.

Well it was still raining hard when I went back to bed at 0530. Woke up at 0830 to the lightest of dustings on the grass and clearing skies, so looks like we ducked it.

Welllll, I don't think I have any room to complain about the weather here anymore.

The freezing rain here must be nothing, though we've had a lot of accidents lately. I almost killed myself yesterday. Freezing rain happened at random, I nearly slid off the highway and off a ditch going about 50MPH (10MPH below the speed limit btw). Hit a rough patch of ice just before I got home and (I kept the car pointing the right way) slid into the sideline. 

Last time I hurry home in bad weather...to beat the bad weather...  

Are the roads super icy there? If so, can I stop by and learn how to drive in Ice...because apparently I suck at it.

Well I was going to say how freaking cold it was yesterday on the field trip to the wind power generator station in Mongolia, but I think you win Firefox

I'm not sure exactly how cold it was yesterday but it was somewhere in the -20 to -30 range with the wind chill.  There was frost on the inside of the Van windows.  It was also the first time where I was....

Over in these parts it's finally feeling like winter. Except for today, where it got to 65 °F (18 °C). At least it's going to be rather cool tomorrow.

After what has seemed like weeks of clouds and rain, the sun has finally come out in Seattle and we've been treated to some spectacular sunrises and sunsets:

And I don't know what the weather is like up-state TSM, but down here we've gotten about 8in of snow, cloudy and windy weather with temps in the low single-digits. Supposed to go sub-zero tonight...yay for Level 2 Snow Emergencies.

Also, our traffic people are pretty incompetent. Just want to note that....

Hmmm... seeing all this stuff about snow and ice and whatnot, I'm just glad to see that for a few days it's decided to be winter here in southeast Texas. Otherwise it's been >70 degrees, and occasionally >= 80 degrees, over this way. Winter that most definitely is not.

Could be in for a wet weekend...

TC Marcia is expected to cross the coast tomorrow morning as a Cat 5 Cyclone. Should blow itself out to a tropical low by the time it gets down here, but I'm glad I'm not doing the Brisbane-Gladstone weekly commute anymore.

Ouch... that does seem like a real pain. And a Category 5 as well. I know the Pacific usually gets more and much stronger tropical cyclones than what we get in the Gulf of Mexico, so Australia may be (hopefully) better prepared. But, in any case, the best of luck to you.

It's been interesting to watch actually. Even yesterday morning, it was still expected to come across the coast as a Cat 1 or 2, so everyone was a bit "meh", sure it was a little far south, but generally, not that big of a deal. Then through the day the forecast magnitude kept going up until, sometime late yesterday afternoon, everyone finally sort of went "hey, this might actually just be a thing".

As to how things hold up, we shall see. As noted before, it's unusual to see a cyclone come this far south, and I certainly can't remember a Cat 5 all the way down here, so I'm not certain if the building code is for things this strong. That said, the emergency services tend to be pretty good, and in terms of getting information out the Queensland Police social media team is brilliant, with the occasional jab at Council:

"Localised flooding on the usual suspects across Brisbane".
