Just out of curiosity;
Has any body here ever beaten 'I Wanna Be The Guy?'

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I haven't beaten it becuase I'm about to try. Just want to know how many forum members have successfully become 'the guy'.

Who's waiting for this damn fine game besides me?
They even got blimps in this game! How cool is that?? First time as French resistance!!!
...I wish they'd make a game where you get to play as the Germans invading other countries...that'll be something like GTA or DAH! or the likes...

I think I remember hearing about that game back when it was first announced. I wasn't really able to follow it that much, due to some other games I was playing/waiting for at the time, but yes, it does look pretty cool.

Once I up-gun my Laptop, then I'll get that in December and play in good, decent graphic....aaah...

So I finally got to play AVP2. Freakin awesome. The marine campaign kinda scared the shit out of me, but whatever. I love the alien campaign. Crawling around on the ceiling, in the vents... and then lunging at unsuspecting people, clawing them to bits and eating their brains
Need more facehugger missions though..

Oh man, the AVP2 marine camapign still ranks as one of the most frightening games I've ever played... I well remember letting a drunk mate play it once and hearing the girly-scream from the other end of the house.

That's a very VERY old game, right?
You know something about video game these days? They only care about the graphics and sold-ability. The concept is...blech.
Somehow I began digging my room for old games and play it again! Can't believe how fun it was compare to the more modern games available...
Is that still on sale?

I loaded up AVP2 a few weeks back. Compared to the first one, it was leaps and bounds better in all aspects.
And some people wonder why I actually like being an old-school gamer.

I'm a RPG-aholic, in fact I've been running a RPG site since I was 14 years old and still chugging away at it today.
If you're a fan of RPGs in any way, look into the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona games. Squaresoft has fallen a long way from their former glory and Atlus is more than ready to take over. FFXIII may save them, but that's all speculation at this point.

Re: Vidya games!!
not sure why it took folks so long to realize that... been saying it since FF7 came out. While it was still a good game, they started hyping up and relying upon graphics as a main selling point with that one... and so began the decline of storytelling in the final fantasy franchise. Now look at the bullshit they've been spewing out... I think I'll go look up some more RPGs that I missed in the mid 90s...Toma-kun wrote:Squaresoft has fallen a long way from their former glory...

FF7 was like a wonderful drug with powerful, long lasting effects; enough to get you through a game like FF8 or even FFX. All drugs wear off though and you're kinda left wondering, WTF happened?
At the very least, their total blah-ness has opened the doors for some truly innovative and progressive games that otherwise would have been totally ignored. I'm at least thankful for that contribution.

Only for bosses, but it does make killing the WEAPON's a helluva lot easier. Especially that dammed Ruby WEAPON.
1)Kill off two of your char's.
2)Ram Ruby Weapon(for those who haven't played FF7 up to this point, I'm not kidding)
3)Wait for Ruby WEAPON to stick his tentacles in the ground(again, I'm not kidding)
4)Use Hades summon on Ruby Weapon(tentacles will move, but not do anything)
5)Revive chars. and use White Wind and Big Guard
6)Then use W-Summon/Knights of the Round and Mime like all hell.
7)Ruby WEAPON dead in 4 minutes flat.

For my fight with Ruby I equipped Cloud with mime, and I put his Knight of The Round Materia with a drain materia. Basically, I didn't do anything but summon knights of the round and get healed for it. It took a while, but it worked... All that work for the crappiest Gold Chocobo EVER.

I don't play video games very much, but recent ones I have played are Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Left for Dead. If I had to pick between the two, I'd say Left for Dead because it is game that you can play with a group of friends and the maps changes every time you play so its doesn't get too boring.

I also highly recommend the Persona games, especially Persona 4. They are definitely among my top favorite games.
Here are some trailers for Persona 4 and Persona 3 if anyone is interested.
The games have great stories and game play as well as very unique styles, distinct even among the Persona games themselves.
Any other Persona fans out there?

What I meant, was that I would choose to play Left for Dead OVER COD4 because in Left for Dead, there is the four player co-op and the maps randomly generations zombies in different locations and such. Left for Dead is one of those games that keeps you on the edge of your seat because you'll never know when a Hunter will pounce on you.

Well you'd last a lot longer if you were actually facing away from her while running. I mean, Backpedaling is slower then walking forward.
But Witches are easy to kill with or without shotguns as long as you can come up from behind her.
The one shot a witch thing? you can achieve it with a shotgun. Just come up from behind quickly. she'll turn her head towards you with a gasp. as soon as you hear the gasp, shoot her in the face point blank. it kills her instantly if done right.
With a M16 or M14 you can do the same thing, except you'll have to ram every bullet you got in the magazine into her head until she's dead. If done right you can manage to kill her before she fully got onto her feet and was able to strike at you. it only takes a few seconds, but thats enough to kill her if you fire the M16 fully auto or rapid fire the M14.
When you only got pistols, you'd need to focus fire on her because the pistols dont do enough damage.

Just got my hands on the Gunslinger Girl PS2 games. They're actually pretty fun, although a little repetitive since there seems to be an endless stream of clone baddies.
As expected the arsenal is pretty comprehensive, complete with all of the guns seen in the series; you can even go pistols akimbo if you pick up another gun during the mission! I also like the fact that when Henrietta takes too much damage, she looks visibly damaged and begins to hobble around instead of her usual scurrying. I'm on Vol.2 right now, but I'm really interested in Vol.3 since you can play as Rico and Triela.

Just dual wield the CZ75 for high score ownage. In the later games dual wield the desert eagle or the M93R as they are stronger.
And Rusty what model PS2 do you have? I might be able to help you to play the NTSC-J games.

If you have a network adapter, you can use any IDE harddrive (minus western digital without modifying the adapter).
You would need:
A memory card, it has to be reformatted
Independence compiler
Action replay (I use this to transfer the file).
Or you can get this newfangled thing apparently its a memory card mod chip so all you would need is the .iso which I can supply you with.

This is the official site to look for it. Just look for a trustworthy reseller. I used the hard drive method since I had most of those tools.

I did the mod-chip on mine. I picked up a ModBo-4.0 pretty cheap (I think I paid $19.99) and soldered it in. Most people would be better off using the Swap-Magic or the Memor32 cards, as installing a ModBo is darn near impossible for an ameteur.
I was fortunate that my downstairs neighbor has a circuit board holder, fine-tip iron, and goose-neck magnifier, as many of the solder points are difficult to see. One even gets soldered directly to a surface-mount resistor, and in keeping with my luck, the resistor came off on my iron. I had to have him come up and put the thing back on, since he has done that kinda work. If you go this route, I recommend sacrificing an 80wire IDE hard drive cable for your leads, since larger wire tends to weaken the interface to the chip.
The benefit is that I can play any of the jap games, plus any region DVD in the unit, and there;s a few other minor features on the ModBo chip. My largest difficulty was in finding which model and series PS2 I had so that I could find the right points to hook to.
If you go this route, let me know and I can give some advice. I think I still have the shortcuts to the diagrams and stuff as well.

Yeah, I'm not an electronics guy. I won't be opening up any of my consoles any time soon and tinkering with them.

Can't blame you, those installation diagrams blow up all of the points and make everything look super large, but once you open it you kinda just sit there with your jaw wide open, amazed at how ridiculously tiny everything actually is. Hardmods are really the best way to go though, never did like the exploits.

No kidding, and that's just a (~9 year old) PS2. I'd hate to see what the inside of my PS3 or 360 looks like.
EDIT: Speaking of PS2, I finally picked up Persona 4, I hope it's as good as I've heard it is. I did enjoy Persona 3

Persona 4 is the better overall game, but P3 has an edge in the story and music department. I don't think I could pick a favorite though.

I tried the PS2 game a while back, it feels like a dungeon crawler. Going around killing stuff, I heard the game gets a tad hard later.
I had really NO idea what the story was like when I was playing through. I was told to play the game twice through to get any comprehension from it so I just stopped. I think some baroques are unlocked through dying though.

I have an Xbox 360, PS2, and a Gamecube, but the only one i play a lot right now is a 360.
A few games I play on at least a semi-regular basis:
*Halo 3
*Call of Duty 4
*CoD World at War
*Gears of War 2
*Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

Re: Vidya games!!
If you enjoyed P3, you'll definitely enjoy P4. There are some very dark and depressing moments in the game though, just to warn you. Very well done though.rusty-spring wrote:No kidding, and that's just a (~9 year old) PS2.

P4 is my favorite between them, but that's really more of a matter of preference.

Yea you can't really lose with either game, probably the two best console RPGs of this decade.

Re: Vidya games!!
I'm finding the protagonist (Player Character) of P4 10000000^e times better than the protagonist from P3. The P3 PC was too much of an emo for my tastes. Plus, P4's protagonists Persona is far and away cooler looking than P3's protagonist's.Godot wrote:P4 is my favorite between them, but that's really more of a matter of preference.

Re: Vidya games!!
Emo?!? I'll admit that's how I felt in the beginning too, mostly because of the hair style, but that's where it ends.
The PC in P4 is too complacent and always has a confused look on his face (though that's not necessarily a bad thing, people have said the same thing about me).
But yes, Izanagi is a lot better than Orpheus.

I just figure the P4 protagonist is just "playing it cool." Maybe that explains how he can date 4 girls at once.
