Just got in from helping push a car that got stuck in front of my house. And my parents actually want to try and drive somewhere later today. Admitedely, our minivan has better tires then some of the other vehicles in the area for that sort of thing, but still...

Yesterday it was in the 70s F and a beautiful day. Yeah, I love Texas. Cold Christmases are horrible.

Yes, it was in the 70s and really beautiful weather yesterday. A front came through Central Texas this morning and the winds were so strong that I had to curtail my Saturday morning shooting at the outdoor firing range (...I couldn't keep my eyes from watering up and I couldn't get a consistent aim with my pistol because of the wind gusts: ammo is too expensive to waste on a day like today...).

All rain today so the roads are fine and a lot of the snow is melting. Will be warm(er) and wet for the foreseeable future here in Seattle.

Yeah, the wind was really bad this morning. I stayed inside but I could hear branches falling on our roof (we have a slowly dying cottonwood tree).

48 degrees Fahrenheit and I'm freezing my ass off!

it was hitting 40 we got lots of flash flooding a tornado and as the snow melted we got fog really dense fog that made it so you coldnt see 10 feet in front of you and made it hard to drive also as the snow cleared the potholes made by the snowplows became visible.

When I was in London in 1985, I understood why they used to have "killer fogs". I hated every minute there because the diesel fumes were so bad.

When I went back in 2004, the clean diesel has really done wonders and it was nice and clear and easy to breathe.

Well, alot of places in Portugal that were already used to the dry, weary routine of just plain cold, got assalted by an avalanche of snow for the first time in + 20 years.

T´was nice. It´s fucking cold though, i don´t like cold.

Heavy rains the past few days resulting in widespread flooding.

Stopped raining today and grew much colder, which helped stop the snowpack melt in the mountains and take some of the pressure off the rivers and streams fed by them.

Was freezing this past week (supposed to be the coldest temperatures in Britain for the past 15 years...) and now, just as we get to the weekend, it warms up And we didn't get any snow days either

Then I was ill yesterday so I got yesterday off too

So it's snowing again.

Fortunately, it is not a great amount of accumulation - just a thin coating of white on everything. It snowed on Sunday, as well, but the flakes were so light they just floated and never really hit the ground (so no accumulation).

sorta goes without saying, but.. same here. we kept getting an inch of snow that stuck, then a thaw... now, as I look out the window though... it's coming down fairly hard and not slowing.

...as if I needed any more excuses to just stay inside and play video games...

School is canceled for today! Apparently there may be an ice storm today. This is definitely a treat, because my school district is always the one who makes us go to school no matter what; usually it was to be snowing for them even to give us a delay.

We didn't get a snow day a little while back when normally we would have. The next week, the mains pipe burst, flooding the main building.

We got ice for the second time this winter! Yay for idiots on the road! Lol, jk. The weather was good during my classes though, so I didn't get a break (most of my friends at other schools did though ). I can't wait for the warm weather to come back. Maybe it'll be back in the 60s next week... that would be nice.

We have the same problem here in Seattle. Serious snowfall is such an anomaly the whole city shuts down when more then 5cm hits. Seattle doesn't salt the roads for "green" reasons, but after a week of ice and shedloads of accidents the Mayor was dragged over the coals so now we will start salting come next year.

Well certain "conditions" have to be met. Snowfall must last more then three days and accumulations must be over 10cm.

And the reason we didn't use salt was because with all the rain, it washes into the stormdrains and into freshwater lakes and streams, turning them salty.

So it is very unlikely you will need a "salt car" for Winter like NYC and other cities in the Northeast.

Spent last night and this morning building what is now a respectably sized snow fort Comes up to a bit over waist height, so it's pretty decent for holding off the snowballs (especially since it's about 20cm thick XD )

So it snowed again overnight - about a cm or so. It's sunny now so it's melting away, but it did cause a number of accidents this morning, including closing one of the two cross-lake bridges to Seattle.

More snow is expected within the next 48 hours during overnight and again on Friday.
