The world definitely needs more of that... beats Danger Zone as a "launch all the fighters" piece hands down

The various Uchuu Senkan Yamato series have an awesome soundtrack, in no small part because they use a real orchestra.

Amen. Somehow the synth version never quite cuts it.

@Alfisti, as awesome as that song is, NOTHING will ever top "Danger Zone." Nothing.

Although "Klendathu Drop" from Starship Troopers is motivating for that sort of feel, too. Say what you will about the movie itself: Basil Poledouris can write a score.

I loved that movie. It was terrible, but in the best way possible.

This is a driving theme, but I feel it lacks the raw powerrrr of DANGER ZONE.

I'll pay that, however what this does that Danger Zone doesn't is put a big, stupid grin on my face at the same time.

seems we have to wait until March for the last 2 episodes of Girls und Panzer,it appears there was some sort of scheduling hiccup and the tv channel wanted it to soon to finish it at a high enough quality and without enough program slots available,the director has said he will improve the animation in the the Blu-ray

Effectively seven of the ten shows are now done, so here's my initial Fall 2012 scorecard:

Suki-tte Ii na yo. - A
Favorite show of the season. It was everything I hoped for.

Kamisama Kiss - A
Seriously delightful romantic comedy.

Chūnibyō Demo Koi ga Shitai! - A-
A brilliant final pair of episodes push this one over the hump into an A.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun - A-
Another great romantic comedy.

Wooser no Sono-hi-gurashi - C
Was worth a C- because of Rin and Ren. Get's a C for the Milky Holmes cameo in Episode 11.

Girls und Panzer - C-
Not quite as dumb as Upotte!!, but that's damning with faint praise, isn't it.

Teekyū - D
Impressive for how fast the seiyuu can talk, but only for that.


As to the other three, the mid-season scorecard is:

Little Busters - B
As noted earlier, unlike any Key show I've seen in general tone, but it does have that hint of the "supernatural" that I love about Key projects.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo - B-
Fortunately, they pretty much ignore the ridiculous and distasteful premise by the third episode and the show improves significantly because of it. I just wonder how many folks chose not to give it a chance because of that premise. They could have ended it with the 12th episode, so hopefully they have a new arc planned for the next half.

Shinsekai Yori [From the New World] - B-
The awkwardness of the time-skip is now over and the show is starting to seriously do some world-building. That being said, it might have been a bit better if it had just started with the kids being in their early teens...

A bit late to this topic, but I have to say that I've been enjoying Jormungand immensely as of late.

There are definitely a few other series I've been watching to try and catch, but time will tell.

just watched it ! typical fanservice OVA,but reasonably funny !

Shin Sekai Yori [From the New World] - Midseason Rev

Of the fourteen episodes aired to date, I have found the last seven to be more interesting then the first. Hopefully that remains the trend.

I ended up quite enjoying Jormungand, however I did not like the ending very much. I guess the creator of the source material needed to do something after hinting for so long that Koko was up to something really big and earth shaking, but in the end her plan seemed far fetched and ultimately doomed to failure. And given what Koko does for a living, it should have been obvious to her that it was doomed to failure.

Pre-finale Koko was pretty awesome though. She's probably one of the the most moe ruthless arms dealers ever.

Shin Sekai Yori [From the New World] (Episodes 14-21)
Have to say I didn't see any of this coming. Four more episodes to go and it looks to be a real roller-coaster.


Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai! - Depth of Field ~ Ai to Nikushimi Gekijou (Depth of Field ~ Love and Hate Theater)

A series of 3 minute shorts released two at a time as part of each Blu-ray/DVD volume. Rikka and Dekimori duke it out to the death in giant mecha in the ruins of Tokyo.

The first three have been fansubbed and I have to say that overall I give it a "meh".

For those who have been waiting with baited breath, Girls und Panzer Episode 11 is now out. Episode 12 is scheduled for next week and will close out the series.

Also one more episode to go for Shinsekai Yori [From the New World] and three more for Little Busters! and I can close out Fall 2012.

Shinsekai Yori [From the New World] - B+

A solid show, overall, but a bit long. Then again, since it is an adaption of a novel, it probably needed all 25 episodes to tell.

Little Busters! - B

Better than Clannad and (especially) Clannad: After Story, but not to the level of Air, Kanon or Angel Beats. Still, if Sentai Filmworks releases it on Blu-ray I'll buy t.

Looks like the show has been green-lit for a second season as the end of Episode 26 followed with a promotional video for for an animated version of Little Busters!: Refrain, which was a special level of the game unlocked when you completed the six main heroine paths.
