That book is ridiculously indulgent. Still haven't finished it though, but I would say that if anyone is planning on trying to read it, I would suggest that you read the original Pride and Prejudice first - Though I certainly understand if someone didn't want to. P&P isn't exactly a roller coaster of literature.

A lot of the humor comes from the jarring similarity (and dissimilarity) the story maintains while shoving zombies into the setting.

Apparently, it might be coming out of hiatus due to some announcement in the magazine it used to run in. It stated that the next issue would would feature HSotD on the cover along with a "big announcement."

Here's a scan of the announcement (I can't read a bit of Japanese, so I'm just going off of what I read.)

Never mind, that's the same one I found, and from the look of it, yeah, it seems pretty slow. It seems like GsG is the only anime/manga with a "cult following" (i.e. not a popular mainstream title) that has an active english language forum.

Also, @Five_X, the series is being animated by Madhouse. The release date is currently unknown.

Gather a small group of stable survivors and try to outlast the apocolypse. You can't count on a government being able to keep itself together with so many of its own turning.

Close combat weapon's are risky, one bite and you are done. If it comes to that try to have something with some reach you can swing fast. Shotgun's are probably going to be your bread and butter unless you have a National Guard outpost or something nearby you can raid.

Banks with their surveilance equipment intact are good defensible locations. But remember: No where is safe, only safer. Always have an escape plan.

If zombies came pounding at my door right now I would get my my replica Darth Maul lightsaber, some kitchen knives, my P-90 (only shoots BB's, but they can hurt...) and my sister's electric guitar. I would get my dog on an extending leash, so she could run ahead of me. I would put on my Ellis cap and t-shirt say:

But in reality, it'd be smarter to head for the local gun shop, get a couple of things in .22LR, an AK clone (or if I can get my hands on it, a Springfield M1A SOCOM) and as much of the appropriate ammo for each as I can and then hole up in a tall structure, keeping my escape route out of reach of zombies if I can. if time permits, I'd try to find suppressors, but that's not very likely to be found.

It takes 1:30 into the simulation for the zombies to be reduced to zero.

Shit, that would make for a hell of a horror story/movie. A zombie apocalypse told from a child's standpoint has the potential to be a tale far more heart-wrenching and gnarly than that told from an adult's. Imagine having to protect other kids your age, having to weed out 'weakest links' in your band of survivors, and having to fight off walking dead who used to be your playmates.

I think I already know what game to run next in my World of Darkness: Innocents module.

Now they are going around toten' guns and driving cars and start using swat tactics and army formations when approaching new areas.

Another point; several Zombie-genre movies have featured zombiefied dogs, but they're always some big, intimidating attack breed. What I'd like to see is a whole bunch of undead Chihuahua's, Toy Poodle's or Welsh Corgi's...that would be cool.

Nah, not necessarily. I once fought some liches who were little more than smarter, tougher zombies. They didn't cast spells or anything like that. This was in a Fighting Fantasy gamebook. One minute those things were just rotting bodies hanging from a gibbet that I was walking under, next thing I know they fall on top of me and start trying to choke the shit out of me. Freakish.

I'd like to see a Decayer apocalypse instead of a zombie one.

In 4.0 D&D now you can play as Revenant and by level 16 if the DM successfully kills you, then he was metagaming seriously cause you can indefinantly stay up while sub 0(dying) with them and even have items that give you like 20 DR while in such a state, then when you get Epic Destiny tier with the right Path and Items you can become completely unkillable serriously Phasing (half-damage) and 30 DR while Dying and a full set of actions, and never fail a (having a +11 to) saving throw and heal all the way when you beat a 20 and not spend healing surges to do so.
