Considering that Yu's anime and manga have been translated into English by ADV Manga and FUNimation, I think it stands to reason that either he or someone closely associated with him must know the language in order to make an agreement with said companies for adaptation/distribution rights and the like. In any event, the English I used was *very* plain and to-the-point.

well i can base that point of mine in one simple thing.

If you see the translations of ADV, would you say they are good or crap compaired to our own?

Because the way i look at it, if Aida-sama really could understand english, then i believe that the translations would be a whole lot better...

Just, because someone translated his anime, doesn't mean someone translates his email. How much time does he have to answer email anyway? Sure maybe he could spit out automatic responses to everyone, but I doubt he has the time, or money to reply to every email he receives. Besides some artists just plan old don't like to hand out answers.

Yeah I'm with Alados on this one. Maybe this will help, there is developer commentary for Portal. In which one of the big developers says here's my email if you want to leave input about the game. Input. I'm willing to bet how Mr. Yu Aida treats his mail from his blog. He's trying to get a sense of how people feel about his work. You can't honestly expect him to reply to all the email he gets. It would be a job unto itself, if not several. He isn't you, or me. He gets to much email to be able to respond like that.

Um... just a question - if the cyborgs aren't physically capable of growing... why does Triela's hair keep growing? Her body appears to capable of producing new cells of its own... perhaps this has something to do with the fact that her hair is from her "old body", whereas the cybernetic implants, while accepted by, are still "unnatural"... Random thought - do they have bone marrow? My "unnatural" idea would be shot down if they were able to keep producing blood cells in cybernetic implants.

Does their hair grow? They seem to always have the same hair length, but that could be due to weekly visits to the barber, I suppose.

They do wash their hair, but that could be just to keep it clean from environmental contaminants.

Triela did offer to cut her hair, and Henrietta's current hairstyle is different than the hair she had before she became a cyborg. Same with Petrushka, who has a different style, color and length of hair than when she was Elizabetta.

Angelica's hair seems to not have changed much, if at all, between her time as a normal girl and a cyborg.

Oh wait, never mind! For some weird reason, I think there's a mistranslation in chapter 22, page 4 - where Triela says "This is how I used to have it, anyway". I think it should read "This is how I'm used to having it anyway". I thought that, for some weird reason, her hair looked like it had been cut quite short in some of the subsequent pages, but then page ten(ish) of chapter 56 totally ruined that. Forget I said anything.

True enough - I mean, if Italy is now a nation medically advanced enough to produce cyborg killing machines, working out the current kinks in artificial blood substitutes - like the lack of platelets for clotting and WBC for fighting disease, and crazy side effects [edit] should be easy enough, or something they discovered first. But as for hair... the only part of it that is techically "alive" is the follicle. Maybe it's the drugs that's making them not grow very long... *sigh* I don't know enough, and I think I just overcomplicate things.

Does this also mean that their nails don't grow, either? And let's not forget that they'd never have to worry about their eyebrows.

It depends on the girl but yeah, it probably would apply more to the older ones.

Of course the girls are European, and aren’t near as obsessed with body hair removal as their American counterparts.

They don't have to. Even if they do have hair legs, they don't have to shave them because the guys in the R&D development can just take their legs off and put in a new one.

Otherwise, Yu-sensei would have a hard time drawing the girls without turning some of them into MEN

I think Henrietta also missed a leg. They recieved new ones, but if these legs where synthetic, who says that the hair growth was also recreated?

The hair on their heads might as well be a wig crafted onto the synthetic skin.

Both Henrietta and Triela lost natural limbs prior to becoming cyborgs, however their remaining natural limbs would have been replaced with cybernetic ones, as well, during the initial conversion.

Yeah, that's plausible. But I mean c'mon, would the girls even LET Yu-sensei draw them with...hairy legs?

I kinda' have the idea that the prosthetic limbs the girls are using adjusts to how they grow--say, its like biometal or something of the like so it absorbs the same number of nutrients the body receives in general (just as how bones grow) and adjusts itself with the body height and mass.

Although a more plausible solution would be the guys in the R&D replaces their legs (and height) after being held gunpoint by the girls complaining how short they are.

speaking of which, has there been ANYONE here who ever attempted to draw the adult version of the girls? Not as in 'adult oriented material', As in the all-grown-up version?

I mean if they can grow up to be something, I can actually picture how Triela could end up as a doctor or a lab technician with the white lab coat...plus the intelligent look with the spectacle. Claes would've been in the library as a librarian--or maybe a musician or an artist. Even better, an author. I could see Beatrice as a chef or a cook, but I can't imagine Henrietta or Rico as taking a profession once they grew up. But damn hell Petra would be coming home late in the morning all red and walking funny if she could get a profession!

And in Italy, she became "legal" at 13, so the fact that she looks 13 isn't in and of itself an issue.

Generally speaking, Italian women aren't particularly busty anyway.

As for uping the ages, I'm not sure it would necessarily be quite that easy. I get the impression there's more to making a girl look like an adult then simply lengthening her limbs and increasing her bust size. Though Triela might be able to pass for a slender adult with some work... wait, she already has passsed for an adult... somehow.

That's Henrietta on the range of about Triela's size @ present time. I'm more curious of how they look if they reach that age of 'retirement' (assuming they live up to the 18s-20s). Not retirement as in they are 80+, mind you.

True Alg,

But the major flaw in that plan is that they must use conditioning as a substitute for a sedative. And every replacement of a lib takes a toll on their binds. that and the Conditioning itself is already fucking the mind over a bit.

I take it you saw how Angelica eventually became worse and worse because of the conditioning she took (which was a way higher dose then what Triela received). In the end it made her nearly demented before death came around the corner.

Yup not only is it becoming better, it's also becoming more expensive. Two foreseeable ways this can go:

1. More expensive = high upkeep costs => Close down SWA
2. Better = Immortality? Fountain of Youth?

The second's not as likely as the first. We're in for one heck of a nasty ride
