Seven Seas GsG Omnibus 5
http://connect.collectorz.com/comics/database/gunslinger-girl-omnibus-tp/5-309547
Apparently it's due out next month. I've heard quite a bit about the chapters in these volumes, so I'm looking forward to finally reading them. Is it just me, or does Jean look kind of creepy on this cover? Oh well, it's the first omnibus cover to feature Rico and Jean, and I suppose it's just continuing the theme of reusing an existing cover(vol. 11). This cover does seem a little more vibrant, and appears to have more green in it than the original cover, but I think I like it better this way. To be fair though, I'm just looking at scans on Google Images. I'll never see an actual copy of vol. 11 in real life, but I will for sure be ordering this omnibus. Only one month to go...

Re: Seven Seas GsG Omnibus 5
We learn a lot more about why Jean is who he is in this volume so it's not really surprising that his vengeful side is on display on the cover. While Enrica's story is interesting, I do think it would have been less dramatic to use the Vol12 cover. GSG has always been about the vengeance of the Croce brothers, so the cutesy Enrica cover would have been the wrong choice.
I still wish they'd print the other volume's cover in full color in or on the back though. We lost a few really good covers to grayscale because of it.

I'm not happy about the cover at all. It should have been Henrietta's. >_<

Henrietta's cover was Volume 13, so it might be used for Omninus 6.

I gotta admit on both pictures, Jean looks cool with that expression in his eyes.

Re: Seven Seas GsG Omnibus 5
if it werent for Ricos gun, I'd say that Jean looks incredibly creeperish in the vol. 11 cover, haha. And hey, maybe we'll luck out and they'll release an artbook with all of the covers in color.

Re: Seven Seas GsG Omnibus 5
I would love it if an artbook was released. Oh, I also prefer the Henrietta cover.
You do translations? Anata wa jozu desu ne. Don't worry. To quote the translation notes section of another manga series "translation is more art than science". Context is more important than literal translation. It's more a matter of being in the right ballpark, than a simple right/wrong deal. There are often several ways to translate something from Japanese into English, and all of them could be right. Plus, the official translation is not the bible, nor should it be treated as such. Sure, it's done by professionals, but it's still a translation. I have no reason to believe Seven Seas translations aren't solid, mind you. For what it's worth, you probably did a better job than I could have.

My copy came in the mail yesterday. This omnibus has something better than translation notes. It actually has a small section on Italy and its history. I'm definitely looking forward to reading this one.

It has more to do with the fact that I had very little idea what the hell I was doing when I did Vol. 12, which was my first translation project, ever. So there are things that I got straight-up wrong at times.

Re: Seven Seas GsG Omnibus 5
Entropy, don't worry! We appreciate everything you've done!
I just finished it, after re-re-reading all the prior volumes. You can see the art style mature a little, but it's overall very consistent seeing that it's spanning so many years. The history and cultural bits in the back are amazing, as are the nods to the same in the story.
(I'll have to admit - I was too busy going "what's next? what's next?" when I skimmed these pages in the scanlations.)
The spine art is Enrica, and that expression is just ... off for some reason. But the book is wonderful.

That one I get, but I've been wondering about the other spine art(below that one). I'm having a difficult time identifying who it is, let alone the exact pic.

Volume 6 is now available for pre-order at Amazon. Expected release date is 2012-01-08. That'll be my belated Christmas gift to myself.

Re: Seven Seas GsG Omnibus 5
I'm assuming then, that volume 15 is going to be released on its own. Interesting move. I suppose in the short term, it's the better option though, since Seven Seas can release volumes 13 and 14 over here much sooner, rather than having to wait to have volume 15 translated and ready to go as well.

Be nice if they include Libretto I and II, as well.
