So my school is running some kind of fundraiser during the breaks between periods...We have to pay money to stop "Baby" by Justin Bieber from playing over the intercom...This is the most annoying and irritating day of school EVER. Sad

I have hives (itchy bumps on patches of skin).

I think they're caused by stress.

I think that's from my job.

Hives make it difficult to sleep.

Being sleepy at work means mistakes.

That makes the job stressful.

That leads to hives.

(Repeat refrain...)

I'm very sorry for your loss. My back yard is full of the graves of four-legged family, and I cried every time I put one in the ground. Lost my 160-lb baby half a year ago, and still can't find it in me to put his ashes to rest with his friends.

That said, all my memories of him and all the others are fond ones, and my life is richer for having known them all.

Oh Awinnell I'm so sorry for your loss. Having lost 3 dogs in the past few years I know loosing a pet is one of the hardest things you can go though. My heart goes out to you. You had many happy years together and I'm sure you wouldn't trade them for anything. A dog's love is the best thing in the world and I know you'll be able to give your love to another in the future.

Hopefully it will only be a minor strain and you make a quick recovery, it is amazing just how much you can hurt your leg with such a minor misstep !

Family member contracted an eye infection the likes of which stumped the ER doctor.

I have to dose that eye with antibiotic eyedrops from a compounding pharmacy.  That's a place that actually custom-mixes the meds to spec, because the specified strength is not commonly available.

I have to dose that eye every 30 minutes.  Every.  Thirty.  Minutes.

Sleep?  What's that?

The general cause is a bacteriological infection exploited a laceration in the cornea.

The problem is, cultures haven't come back to indicate which bacteria is causing the problem, so they have to use pretty general antibiotics, which is a bad thing in general to use.

Got this in an email this morning

Good Morning
Unfortunately you are disqualified from joining the Coast Guard. If you have asthma or use a inhaler at this time you are automatically disqualified. Usually inhaler use or signs of asthma past age 12 is disqualifying. You can check with another military branch and see if they can process you. Thank you for your time and interest.
I'm a bit devastated...but I'm going to see if I can appeal this and stuff. Medical waiver or something, not giving up yet.

To be honest I'm surprised I have managed to not get hit before now, virtually all the back roads around here are like a WRC rally course , lots of single track potholed old roads with 15 foot tall hedges and lots of blind corners and crests and the locals all drive around them like they are in a rally, just glad it wasn't one of the many 4x4's that charge around here or worse some big ass piece of farm machinery !

Okies sorry for the LONG absence for the 2 (maybe 3 Razz ) of you that are pining for some kind of sign of life from the World's Laziest Admin (and proud of it).

The Boo-Boo and Owie from me is not due to myself. I am in perfect health and I have plenty of companions who will attest to that. sweat

No, the boo-boo is to none other than...my home. For quite a long time now, I have informed my landlord that the roof leaks, I can hear it leaking into the attic (which is inaccessible) and it will start dripping into my place if it isn't fixed. Well...it started dripping and my landlord still did nothing to alleviate the issue.

After many notices over the years (that's right, I said YEARS) I came home from a weekend of alleviating my lack of a vacation to find it raining inside of my damn house. So now, I have to move post-haste; but the landlord is putting in a sweet settlement package negotiated by yours truly.

Unfortunately, this still means that I will have to use my crazy good moving skills and pack up my house within a couple of days so that the roof is fixed and the interior damage repaired. I offered to do most of the work myself(for a fee of course) as I've worked off and on in the construction and home repair biz for over 20 years. I can't however because of 'some insurance issue' or some other nonsense.

So that's what has been going on with me. I wish everybody well and hope those who have posted here in my absence get better for their illnesses or things get better despite their misfortunes.

In departure...a quick view of the water damage.

Boo-boos and Owies - Page 2 Empty Most depressing moment of my short life...

Post by PolosElite23 Sat 22 Nov 2014 - 12:13

For Pete's sake guys, the military is giving me no breaks!  Hissy fit

Got a letter from MEPS while waiting on my recruiter to get back to me on some Medical Consultations I was going to need. Apparently they went ahead and DQ'd me from military service, which surprised the hell out of my recruiter. It seems nothing is going to go right for me...

There are still a few options and I'm going to be fighting it but...honestly it may be a lost cause, I really hope it isn't

Did I mention I'm sick too?

Good grief, kid. Wish I had some advice for you. I'm having a hard time believing that the U.S. military, which even accepts non-citizens into its ranks, should be so eager to shitcan the ambitions of a bright and talented young man eager to serve.

Right now, the military is a seller's market... wait for the next big war, and all the restrictions will get lifted again. If they were letting criminals in to the Army during the last round, I feel certain they'll see about waivering your asthma. Maybe not for the puddle pirates, though...

Thing is I don't have asthma and brought tests proving as much. I run Cross Country which is pretty rigorious is. My recruiter is baffled over it as well.

Yay for MEPS!

My recruiter is going to see what he can do. I'm drawing up letters to my state congressmen, generally a safe way to go if needed...
