As a few here might be aware, my computer crashed (again) a bit back, corrupting the .psd file I was working in at the time beyond repair with it. While things weren't as bad as they could have been (I back up to a portable drive every night), losing a night's work was still galling, and it was the straw that broke the camel's back. It's replacement arrived today.


Added bonus: went laptop this time so all the thing's waste heat will no longer be venting into my lap.

Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend, will be nice to have something a little newer than seven years (and hopefully a little more stable) to work on.

In other news, trying out somewhere new for a haircut... which sounds like a strange thing to get excited over but Crown & Co. Barbers turned out to be pretty awesome...

The thought occurred to me that I am being a bit of an asshole of a teacher as of late. The reason being the difficulty of the assignments I am giving my students.

Biology 1
report- Pick an endangered or threatened species and determine what is going wrong, why isn't evolution helping them adapt, and what can we do about it
Presentation- The final week of the semester (January) each student will have 40 minutes to teach the class about a particular topic

Science 10
Take home test where several questions have them identify substances using snells law- due monday
Presentation- explain how a devices optics work- due monday

Science 9
15 minute presentation on a powerplant and trying to convince a panel of judges why it should be used in Ulaanbaatar

On second thought, screw it, it will be a learning experience for them

Saw a dozen seriously cute Asian girls in the cafeteria over lunch.

Basically the whole floor I am on in my dorm (plus a few downstairs) suprised me with a suprise birthday party last nigh when I got home from work. Made my day and I'm still grinning over it.

Based on Top Gear's experience, I'd be happy to be (motor)cycling in Vietnam, as well.
