@Alfisti: I call dibs on tactical!
It seems like it could be an awesome concept, if done correctly... but if not handled correctly, it could be a horrible chore... probably best applied with a group of people who know each other well, and are committed to playing/practicing fairly often.

I actually did think about it a bit more later, and agree: unless you had a "crew" willing to practice and drill on a regular basis, not to mention follow set plans, it could be an incredibly frustrating experience. Doubly so for a Harrington simulator where the tactical environment is, umm... somewhat more complex... than the more Star Trek style combat the simulator seems to be base on and less able to be "seat of the pantsed".
That said, the bridge makeup would probably be different as well. You could do away with the science officer and probably communications as well (because, lets be honest here... EVERYONE wants the tactical slot). I reckon you'd need a captain, astrogation, helm (possibly rolled into one if you were short people), engineering, a tactical officer and probably an ATO as well (and maybe even an EWO)... unless of course you feel like trying to manage attack birds and point defence all on your lonesome.

Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator
The Denver chapters of a Star Trek club I am a member of did something like this at a con. They build a Federation and a Klingon bridge set and networked it all together so you could battle each other. Loads of fun.

Hrm... Astro and Helm could/would be the same thing (Hope they've boned up on their maths! ), with the probability of having an EWO, and Commo would possibly still be needed, depending on circumstances (have to let those filthy pirates know that they're buggered! ).
But yeah, any sort of Saganami Island Bridge Simulator mod would have to be a SERIOUS alteration of the core programming, simply due to the greater amount of missiles being used, to say nothing of the impeller wedge-based warfare.
And yet.... and yet, I can ALMOST see how it could be done...

I fiddled with it a little using two cores for the server and my other two for a client. The lack of intuitive controls makes things difficult. It could really use some streamlining.

I think EVERYONE had better bone up on their maths to run an Honor sim. Maybe if you were short handed you could roll the Commo and Engineering slots up into one? Lets face it, generally one tends to be busy when the other isn't... at least for single ship engagements. An EWO would be pretty much essential if you wanted to run later-war battles, but to be honest I think it would be best handled initially during the early First Havenite War. To be frank, if you tried to run an engagement between podnaghts the whole system would probably just give in and crash.Officer_Charon wrote:Hrm... As a character, Shizune interested me the most, but her storyline was, regrettably, the weakest-written. Lily was, I think the most epic of the storylines, Hanako was DEM FEELS, MAN, and Emi was one that left me feeling the warm fuzzies. Rin, while an interesting character, really didn't do anything for me.... her story was (mostly) well-written, the character was definitely novel, but she just didn't ping on the radar, you know?

Finished Shizune's lines... Landed on the "bad" ending first, really sad. Went back and cleaned up by not boffing Misha and got the better ending. Still have to finish Emi's lines out but liked her good ending.
The writing on the whole is incredible for such a small group project. On the whole, the indie scene is certainly getting better and better.

Finished Lily's route recently, aiming strictly for good end, still have yet to get bad end.
And dear lord, Shizune's bad end was really saddening. The game really ensures that if you cheat on her, you feel like a complete scumbag for doing so (at least in my case). It makes the good end sooo much more rewarding.

I found it interesting that it had less to do with you and Shizune as it did with Misha's relationship with her. I'll admit that I was actually surprised at Misha's admission as I had seen only one trace of it and thought it was jealousy the other way.
I've played quite a few of these novels and this is probably the least "erotic" one, but the story is just so good. I'd say that Family Project had a better story overall, but even that did not have my attention on the characters as much as this one. Not sure if it's the tragic aspect with the girls or what. Probably the endearing quality they have in their overcoming their disabilities.

Picked up Borderlands on a Steam sale... God this is bad for the eyes. I can dig the whole XIII/comicbook style the graphics have, but it really is poor implementation on high-res settings. I can't play for more than an hour without getting a migraine.

I picked up "I Am Alive" on the steam sale.
I like it for the most part. It has a realistic quality that many post-apocalyptic games lack. The story so far is good. My gripes? 1: The save system- actual save points far and few between, and checkpoints don't apply if you quit out between saves. 2:Ammunition- short of D.C., ammunition would not be in such short supply. If you take down someone who has a gun, and it actually IS loaded, then it's probably got more than one round in it. It seems like the ammo in this game is localized to the places you will HAVE to use it. 3:Spiderman, Spiderman..... This guy should try free-climbing El Capitan.

I got Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion from one of my mates a while back. IT's got all the other DLC, which is cool, and doubles the amount of playable factions. What I really like though are the new Titan class ships. Previously, the largest ship the TEC (The faction I play as) had was the Marza Dreadnaught; a collosal beast with more firepower and armour than any other Capital Ship. The TEC Rebel's (The factiona I play as in Rebellion) Titan is five Marzas long. It's basically just a massive rail gun with a ship built around it. Back it up with a Kol Battlship (another type of Capital Ship), a Marza and a few dozen Jarvelins (Long Range Missile Frigates. Inexpensive and leathal.) and you're a force to be reckoned with.

According to wiki most of the team for that project whent to Diaspora
On March 31, 2007, a demo was released that allowed players to play a tutorial, two single player missions and multiplayer. This demo has since been noted or reviewed in various gaming related websites and magazines such as The Escapist,[2] Macworld,[3] PC Gamer UK [4] and Pelit.[5] The development team has been interviewed on several occasions [6] including a "making of" special in Pelit.[7] The BtRL demo has also been featured on the covers of two Ukrainian magazines as well as in cover DVD of Finnish computer magazine Mikrobitti.[8]
In October 2008, the majority of the team announced that they had left the Beyond the Red Line development team to work on a different project, known as Diaspora.[9] Although Diaspora is also a Battlestar Galactica game built on the FreeSpace 2 engine, it is being developed independently of BTRL and the projects have no affiliation with each other.[10]
In August 2009, it was announced that as a consequence of the Diaspora fork, BtRL's subsequent inactivity, and BtRL's perceived hostility toward its fans since the split, BtRL would no longer be hosted at Game Warden, its historical home.[11] BtRL's primary website has been moved and the demo hosting mirrored on a number of providers.
No release date for the full project has yet been specified, and there has not been any word from the developers. The mod is presumed dead.
The Diaspora fork was completed and released in September 2012.[12]

Been at a mate's place playing Space Team... which is hilarious fun and the best argment for buying an iDevice I've seen iin awhile.
Basic gist: each player gets a different control panel and the game flashes up different commands which may or may not be on yours... then there's a time limit for them to be input. Practical upshot: lots of people shouting at each other all at once, usually for four different things. Then occasionally:
More often then you'd think.
Normally it labels each control, but we found the symbols upgrade much more entertaining. They're faster to identify, but it also means you're having to come up with descriptions on the fly...

From the makers of Wing Commander!!!!!
I wanted to get in early on Star Citizen, but my moving out and hours cuts happened at the same time and couldn't pony up the cash. That and I had a hell of a time trying to get logged into RSI's site. I never bothered to check to see if they got the problem fixed or not. If they've proven one thing, it's that the space-sim fandom is not only alive and well, but ravenous for a solid game/sim experience on the PC. I think Chris Roberts knew this from his ties to the WC News forum and the reception the Wing Commander:Saga fan project got. Not to mention he's a gamer.

I wound up forking a bit extra for the 315p, since it looked like a pretty good jumping-off point for the couple of ideas I had on what I might want to do in game: possibly exploring, or maybe some smuggling... having mental images of "The Transporter" - IN SPAAAAACE!
Were it not for the price being a fly in the ointment, the Constellation would also be quite tempting: if only so I could paint the attached fighter crimson and name the ship Bebop.

I figure it isn't scheduled to come out until November 2014, so this one can soldier on until a few months before then and I'll get a new one at that point... seeing as my chances of gaming between now and then are minimal.Officer_Charon wrote:Now if only I didn't need to drop a grand to get my system upraded enough to play it...
If you are considering signing up, now is the time to do it: after the new site goes live (end of the week) quite a lot of perks will be disappearing: Lifetime Insurance on your ship for starters.

So I know there are several other World of Tanks players on here. Stumbled upon something I felt I'd share then.
The game is called Armored Warfare and will feature modern tanks. You can sign up for the beta...here's a link: http://aw.my.com/

I pre-ordered Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS a few days ago! Soooo excited to play it this summer. It's nice that they're not releasing both versions at the same time, I can save up for a Wii U for the winter. ^_^
