Strike Witches reminds you...
Suddenly, Strike Witches is reminding me of the Raiden series. Probably because they have some similar plot line.
What does the anime remind you of?

It stands completely on its own. Honestly, there's nothing quite like it... for various reasons.

Why say that? The Raiden series about a supersonic fighter (sometimes with a few fairies) fighting aliens that uses giant octoherdons as power sources.
Doesn't that sounds a little similar?

Still, it doesn't have scantily clad adolescent girls with airplane footwear and animal ears.

Strike witches scare me. Something about humans with the properties of other animals seems unsettling. and also is it too much for them to draw pants on these girls.

It's apparently too much for the creators.
The lack of pants is by far my biggest beef with the whole series. Completely gratuitous.

Or maybe the Creators are just perverts who love Panty-shots.
But of-course they'd explain it way with "Its because the Engine boots needs bare skin to interface with."

Agreed, but then one might argue that stockings are in essence a down sized net of very thin fibers.
Still, I am just wondering how those Engines stay on their legs. I mean its a tube that you slide into and I don't see any device that secures them to their legs unless its something internal.
Heck I don't even understand how it can contain a persons leg and an engine powerful enough to lift itself and and a person with the aid of a second engine.
Oh well... some things in anime aren't supposed to be explained through the science in said anime. but you can bet that the underlying reason has something to do with the artist/inventor of the series. *cough* Perverts *cough*

really, theres far to much analysis going into this, the Engines are magic engines powered by the girls own magical powers, they are held in place by magic, stockings or tights would work, and yes fanservice is the major reason for it, but have you worn long boots with trousers on ?

then you know how they either bunch up at the top or you have to wear the boots under your pants, and the striker units go further up the leg than most boots and have props on the end, so bare legs make the most sense !
though theres really no reason they can't wear shorts or even a skirt, but this is anime so fanservice rules the day

Indeed, Sanya is the most moe of the cast, so sugary sweet that she makes my hereditary diabetes rear its ugly head...
... but I still want my eye-patch-wearing, jumping from a plane to Smite Evil the enemy without benefit of shields or even a Striker, controlling the almost-space battleship-ish Yamato, and -most importantly- French kissing the Rie Tanaka-voiced Minna Dietrich Wilcke GAR Mio Sakamoto. I found strike witches on xfinity and just started watching it and I can't say it reminds me of anything. I will say that Shirely (the red head) and luchini are nuts.

Read a lot about Strike Witches and I'm about to see watch the anime soon.
Coming to think of this, the Neuroi actually remind me of an alien race I thought of before that was like combining the Neuroi with Starcraft's Zerg. Then take away all the colors except for the shading and add purple.

I recently got Gears of War 3, and now all of a sudden, IT makes me thinks of Strike Witches.
Makes no sense. Why do I think of think of Strike Witches every time I think of games that do not always have any relation to it?

That's.. um... interesting. Not uncommon though, CoD forever reminds me of GsG. i have a theory that it was the game I played when I was first introduced to GsG, same thing may have happened with Gears and SW.JameyoftheMegacosmos wrote:I recently got Gears of War 3, and now all of a sudden, IT makes me thinks of Strike Witches.

And I know it's off topic-ish, but this seemed the most apropriate thread for it (sorry if it's already in Random Media, but I havene't finishe syphoning through it yet, I'm only up to page 11.) Sorry 'bout the sound quality
Just 'but sums up Witches, hmm? (aside form it being the worst ever, I've seen some pretty bad ones that I won't mention... Blood+ (the show was just a bit dull for me))

Mio on the other hand... how to put this, I... tolorate her. If it weren't for her cool navy uniform and heart laugh, she'd be at the top of my shit list. the currnet first place is Yoshika.
I reckon Sanya, Elia, Erica and Minna are the best, followed closely by Perrine, Gertrude and Shirley.
I don't know much about the cast, so all I'll say is that Lynette and Shirley are the only ones that sound like the country they are from, the others... . I wasn't too impressed by the english version.

I wasn't too impressed by the Japanese version, for my part. The German girls didn't speak German, the Russian girl didn't speak Russian, the Italian girl didn't speak Italian, the French girl didn't speak French, and the American and Canadian girls didn't speak English.Destroyer of Worlds ;D wrote:I don't know much about the cast, so all I'll say is that Lynette and Shirley are the only ones that sound like the country they are from, the others... . Re: Strike Witches reminds you...
i think that would be a bitch to cast for though. It wasn't so much that they didn't speak thier own language, because that would mean they can all speak five or six languages fluently, whcih is pretty impressive fore htier age and what not, but that they didn't even have accents. When it's in Japanese, I can't tell if there's an accent or not.Nachtsider wrote:I wasn't too impressed by the Japanese version, for my part. And don't you mean Karlslander, Orussian, Romangan, Gallian, and Britanian?
Also, some Canadians speak french.
