Glad you like it. I need to experiment more when it comes to the way I colour.Alfisti wrote:That's just proper awesome mate, thanks a bunch.
I know I'm probably starting to sound like a broken record, but your expressions, pose, and anatomy are coming along in leaps and bounds with every drawing. Fantastic stuff... I'm also really liking these washed out, slightly (I don't want to say "off", because it gives the wrong impression) skewed colour pallets. It looks great.
Haha, and I'm glad you find her fun to draw, I know I do.
Monty is one of those characters you look at and say, "Dang son, I wish I came up with that!". I know that's what I've been thinking.

That pic of Monty looks really nice, man! The slightly faded color palette and pencil-sketch shading technique (I don't know what it's actually called) helps a lot, but I think it's more the fact that you captured her attitude perfectly that really makes it work.
Same for your new picture of Elly, by the way.

A bit late, but want to let you know just how impressive that is, especially with something like MS Paint. I shudder at the thought of using that program for even more mundane tasks. Good thing you had all that time to sit and hand draw every single star, eh?

Why the heck did I draw both of them with their hand straight out? I just noticed that. kinda stupid, but my point stands! MS Paint!

Lazy with the coloring? I don't see that. The picture is beautifully detailed right where it needs to be: the motorcycles and their riders. The rest should be less detailed, since it's whizzing by at an appreciable fraction of the speed of sound.

While all of the art is outstanding, my mind wonders how the sketch with Elly leaning on the car, fully fleshed out would appear. Great, I bet!

Sorry Alf, I didn't ask to draw Monty. It was spur of the moment. I hope I didn't overdo her attitude/posture. If I did, I can take it down and it will live out its days in my pile of sketches that never sees the light of day.

Monty is always annoyed, so her attitude is correct.
She does seem a bit...casual...in her posing, however, which does strike me as out of character.

She is rather. Monty tends to be neat and tidy by nature and, while she does do casual and relaxed, it tends to be, how to describe it... effortlessly elegant? Perhaps? And always with at least a hint of femininity (note: as distinct from girliness).Thescarredman wrote:She does seem rather a knees- or ankles-crossed kind of girl...
God she's difficult to describe in words, properly formed in my head, but difficult to describe.
That said, the drawing itself is rather good, and it's a difficult pose to get right, so great work on that front. If anything it reminds me more of Monty's earlier concepts, before her personality and style were fully nailed down.
Monty travels enough that I doubt things like layovers really bother her that much, they're just a fact of life. That said, suffice to say, if she were laid-over, she would most likely be found in the airline lounge with a drink and her laptop out.crazyidiot78 wrote:Monty is taking the layover much better than I would

Wonderful piece of artwork there, TeaTime, even if it's not quite exactly to Monty's personality. Indeed, the pose and the proportions are damn near perfect, as are the little details as the folds in her clothing.

Hope you don't get tired of me constantly complimenting your art and skills, but that picture of Elly looks really amazing. Minimizing the hard lines gives the work a much softer appearance, which seems to fit very well the snowy, wintry atmosphere. While I most certainly enjoy your lined works as well, I'm not sure it would have worked quite as well for this picture. (Though, given that reducing linework probably influences stylistic choices, it's perfectly possible to have a lined picture that invariably looks different but is just as well-drawn and aesthetically pleasing.)
Anyway, great job!

First one looks like they're being observed through a peephole. Nice fisheye.
Love the personality you put into your character drawings. Pete looks like he's trying to look like he's having a good time, but not having much luck.
Third set: cute character. I wonder if there's some cyborg jealousy going on there.
Methinks Teatime is missing his motorcycle.

Like them all a lot, especially the middle pair with Pete and Elly. I continue to be impressed with your skill of pencil on paper. Toni looks nice as well. Does Elly have some competition now? But really, even if you don't have a comic with Toni as you do with Elly, it would be nice to occasionally see her in your works.

Thanks! I'm liking paper and pencils more and more.
Toni is pretty cool. I'll do a proper character reference sheet sometime, even though she doesn't have much of a story or even a handler at this point. I just like having more than one or two "go-to" characters that I draw.
If any of you have cool ideas for a handler then throw it out there.

Re: TeaTime's Official Art Post
Nice mate. Like a few others I'm going to say Toni looks like an interesting character, I look forward to seeing how she gets fleshed out. On that note though...
Who knows, maybe he complied with the higher ups long enough to get his cyborg, now he's figured that, now he has one, they can't fire him? Or, at least, that's what he's telling himself... or maybe even the surface rebelliousness is a reaction to realising just what he's got himself into.
Of course, whether he's actually good enough to get away with it... who knows.
I'm also picturing another motorbike, maybe a fratello with some sort of "travel light", quick response role?
Eh, it's a thought anyway, develop or discard as you please.
Hmm, well, since she even has a motorcycle I'm guessing he's not going to be one of the more straight up and down handlers. Toni seems to be giving off a little bit of a stronger, slightly rebellious vibe... perhaps something she has inherited from him? I'm picturing someone who perhaps has not grown out of his own teenage 'too cool for school' stage and is dead set (and perhaps trying a little too hard to show) on showing the world that the SWA doesn't control him. You know, possibly petty stuff that he figures he can get away with: always late for meetings and with paperwork, feet on the desk, talking back unless someone calls him on it... the sort of person Monty might describe as 'untidy', and whom would probably take that as a compliment.TeaTimeNinja wrote:If any of you have cool ideas for a handler then throw it out there.

Dang dude, get out of my head! I was thinking something like that too! A slick sort of guy with an attitude problem. You summed it up perfectly, that's hilarious. Now I'm going to put my thinking cap on and see what I can come up with, keeping your suggestions in mind, of course.
Thanks a lot, Alf. You really jump started this character.

Haha, glad to be of service.
Honestly, I think bashing that out was a little therapeutic in some ways, seeing as most of my characters at the moment are either in the finagling stage of development, human enough to have clocked off for the day, or already wandering around my head being all sentient and their own people. Writing that saves me going and accidentally brainstorming new fratelli of my own.
Will be interested to see where you take it anyway.
