Ya know, with all these questions, you're going to make me end up giving everything away (thought the bulk of everything mentioned will be in the first chapter). Let's just say I have an answer for the, uh, how to put it, major brain damage to quote LoC. Think Reverse Liquid Snake... yeah, that won't make sence 'til you read the first chapter, which I will hopefully have up either today or tomorrow, since my weekdays are shot to hell for the next three weeks.

Another tack that I feel might be worth exploring - if the Agency were to carry on its duties into the next fifty years or more, what would it end up evolving into? What advances in technology would have worked their magic on cyborg development, and what sort of operations would the Agency find themselves thrust into?

In short, I'd like to see a fic providing a 'Futureal' take on Gunslinger Girl. There actually are a few floating around Fanfiction.net, but I think it's safe to say that all have handled the subject in a less-than-satisfactory manner.

While that sounds like a good idea, you'd have to find something that is advanced even for the future. Full on AI robot assassins maybe? I'm drawing a blank.

It's thus the job of us heroic fanfic writers to cook up a plausible explanation. Perhaps our post-apocalyptic Italy sees criminal elements rise to power, and the Agency is the only law-enforcement outfit left to police the place. In such a rough, lawless environment, I don't think there'd be any other organization more cut out for the job anyway.

SWA apocalypse!!: all the SWA needs is a ambitious new leader, then he would try to use the SWA for other purposes. and someone will realize it and take the SWA down. that's almost how my version of the SWA is going to end.

*Lorenzo dies
*Someone who handles a 3rd gen cyborg take command
*He wishes to turn the SWA into Italies own inteligence agency (like the CIA and MI6)
*He makes ties with the Mafia to take out the Padania
*Corruption insues
*My OC comes in and blows up the SWA and saves the girls

Might I ask, though...if all the other 1st-gens are out of commission, and we only know of one canon second-gen team, just how many rogue fratellos are going against the SWA aside from your OC/OCs? Surely it'll outnumber the rogues vastly, with new cyborgs and all...won't it?

Apologies- I'm just nitpicky.

No apologies if I'm being rude, I don't think you got me. What I said was that, even with rogues going against them, the SWA will probably greatly outnumber them.

That, and would it be at all possible to save the girls? Conditioning could have gotten a lot more, well, heavier and more effective in the future.

I'm thinking it would look something like the junior years of Public Safety Section 9. [Ghost in the Shell] Maybe a little less cyber punk, but that's what I see. The use of children is probably out. Technology has progressed to the point where adults can be made cyborgs, and live long lives. It may just be more of a skeleton in the closet at this point. Cybernetics has made its way into the main stream. Militaries around the globe openly operate cyborg units. Military grade cyborg bodies have classified specs, and are treated like any other piece of high end military hardware. Swapping a brain between bodies may be the latest advancement of the intelligence community.

Nachtsider wrote:It's thus the job of us heroic fanfic writers to cook up a plausible explanation.
Post apocalyptic SWA? Oh now that is fun. The world is a waste land, the byproduct of the great war. Barbaric tribes roam the world, while a few bastions of civilization struggle on. What is the SWA? Secret ninja/assassin monastery that helps grow a civilization in the background. Prehaps the SWA is instead this eras Camolet, or are they a new Rome? Either way it is perhaps the greatest depository of technology still in existance. There are customs, there are castes. The leadership system retains it's titles, but the process of advancement are twisted. It is a monarchy, of sorts. Even the lowest of handlers can become the chief of section two. But he must replace those above him peaceful, or violently.

Families must sacrifice for the good of the city. The first daughter, or son if the years are lean, of every family is selected as a warrior class. However the new SWA may not be a place where everything is fare. Perhaps those of power are exempt. Children are stolen, either from targets or the wild barbarian instead. The girls still fight with guns, but other weapons are common now too. Swords, and bows have their place. As does shining armor, and horse back riding. They are a new kind of knight. Or perhaps they are still just assassins of the night.

What the final shape of it, they hold power the the rest of the world can only imagine.

Post by sasahara17 Mon 7 Apr 2008 - 17:32

Hey everyone, long time no see!

Sorry about being A.W.O.L. all this time, but I’m actually
in the middle of my exams at the moment (one down, three to go). Anyway,
besides this being a post to let everyone know I’m not dead (though I might as
well be with the kind of hell I’m living in), I’ve decided to slowly publish my
extensive library of GSG ideas that I’ve stockpiled over the past few weeks.

I’m going to try releasing one a day, and since I have like 14,
so I won’t overload everybody with a flood of text. If all goes as planned, be
done in two weeks which is around the same time my exams finish anyway. With
luck, I’ll be back on the boards by then.

--

Idea; Sibling Rivalry

We all know that, Henrietta Croche and Rico Croche are very
close. Roommates, best friends, partners, comrades in arms… Sometimes, they can
almost be mistaken as sisters. However, what I their relationship was…
different?

-

To all who know them, Henrietta Croche and Rico Croche are
like oil and water, and someone lit the oil on fire and put potassium in the
water. A misunderstanding on their first meeting that has resulted in a heated
argument neither of them want to apologize for.

Grudging allies and bitter rivals, even Lorenzo dives for
cover then they end up in the same room. Jose and Jean’s best efforts have
simply poured gasoline into the raging feud.

After their feud goes too far, the entire staff, cyborgs
included, meet to try and resolve this sibling rivalry once and for all.
Seriously, those girls will destroy them long before any Padania gets a crack
at them!

-

Notes;

In this A.U., Henrietta and Rico retain most of their
personalities; however an unspeakable event in their first meeting has caused
them to loathe each other immensely, so much so neither of them even remembers
what started it in the first place (see below)!

All attempts to stop this have failed. The Croche brothers
merely added fuel to the fire and the attempted re-writing merely made the
girls forget the cause of the feud (making everybody’s job that much harder).

Henrietta and Rico’s spats often should often affect the
other staff members of the SWA, some brief examples…

(1) Henrietta steals Rico’s SVD and buries it in Claes
garden when no one is looking. The Entire garden has to be dug up to find the
darn thing again.

(2) Priscilla is accosted by Henrietta when Rico comes in
with that incredibly cute dress in Volume 4. Find me something CUTER. It’s fine
at first, until Rico comes in the next day with the same question… and
Henrietta the day after that… even Priscilla has a limit.

(3) Henrietta takes wheelchair bound Angie for a stroll,
then leaves the poor girl unattended on a very steep slope when she notices
Rico making of with her P90 as revenge for the SVD incident. Angie begins to
sweat. It’s a VERY steep slope…

(4) Henrietta royally screws up Jean and Ferro’s perfect
date to spite Rico, who’s been rooting for them. Henrietta won’t be laughing
for long, Jose’s about make an important presentation to the brass, and Rico
has recently come into possession of some itchy powder.

…and so on.

Idea and concept generation - Page 9 Empty Re: Idea and concept generation

Post by sasahara17 Tue 8 Apr 2008 - 9:08

It's a little early, but here's the next one...

---

Idea; Big!

Spin-off from my ‘Adult Claes’ idea that I’m using in Echoes
and reading too much ‘Pretty Face’.

Giuliani has a little too much free time on his hands.

Claes goes in for one of her usual checkups… and awakens a
little different. Like, she looks like she’s in her mid twenties different. Giuliani
as given Claes the body of an adult version of herself!

Well now, this is a change. As it turns out, she was an
unknowing participant in an experiment in how far he can modify their bodies.
Seeing as how Padania as beginning to get so paranoid they’re actually looking
at kids more than adults, imagine the irony if that adult they passed over in
favor o that ‘suspicious kid’ actually shoots them in the back like the old
days! Seeing the logic, Claes consents to the remainder of the experiment.

After rigorous testing, Giuliani is satisfied… except when
he tries to give her back her youthful body, Claes is driven to extreme pain
and they have to swap her back to the adult parts. So until Giuliani and his
team figure out what went wrong, Claes is stuck as a twenty five year old
picture of hotness.

And the worst thing? Lorenzo and Jean don’t even know
Giuliani and his team carried out this experiment! It was unauthorized!
Everybody, herself included, would catch so much flak for this if it came out!
He’d be fired and then shot (she’d just be shot)!

Oh well, guess there’s no helping it. So ‘Freda’ is given a
guest room and a fake ID, and is told to lay low until they sort this out.

And then ‘stuff happens’, and Claes is officially inducted
into the ranks of the SWA as a actual fulltime staff member!
She is thrown headfirst into a world she never thought she’d ever be in;
the adult world. Welcome to a whole different life.

Learning the truth of her past… Becoming a parental figure
(Beatrice loses her handler in a mission perhaps?)… Learning responsibility and
duty… Falling in love (Jean, Hillshire, Amadeo, Alfonso or, hell, Ferro for you
Yuri fans?)…

At the end of the day when Giuliani finally fixes his mess,
would Claes even want to go back to the way she was?

---

Notes;

My personal preference is a Victor/Claes pairing. Triela
would be a little demoness all the way, and then when the truth comes out…!

Giuliani should come up with some bullshit explanation as to
why Claes has disappeared, then everybody will somehow buy that stupid
explanation. Hey, you gotta make some sacrifices for a good story.

Giuliani is generally Manabe in this fic, along with all the
wacky inventions that will allow Claes to better fool everybody with.

Hahah that would be an interesting story to read though yes that would have to be a mighty good reason as to why Claes is missing all the sudden.

SWA would probably be concerned that she pulled and Pia and Arnesto sort of thing eh? XDD

I have something like that in my mental sand box but it goes under the lines of

Claes is told that she would just be going under a regular check up. However, when she wakes up she's got a deeper voice, larger shoulders and... is that a mustache?

Everything goes wrong when Claes is turned into a guy! And the doctors of the SWA does not know what to do, it seems that they can't just "chop it off". So as Claes lives a life that she/he could hace never imagined. Triela realizes that her one true love was with her all along Laughing

In an alternate reality, five special women uncover a great conspiracy that would shake the foundation of the world forever.

Angelina ‘the Black Angel’is from the rough side of town. After her father tired to murder her, she was bounced from foster home to foster home, eventually deciding to live life her way as a hard as nails biker. One day, she bears witness to a firefight between grown men and adolescent girls. Barely escaping with her life, Angie soon finds her face plastered over every wanted poster in town. Angie’s seen something she wasn’t supposed to, and now she’s running for her life against an enemy she doesn’t know…

Triela was arguably the greatest detective Interpol had ever seen until she ‘retired’ (she got bored) and became a P.I. Rescued, adopted and trained by the legendary Victor Hartmann himself, this sassy young woman is the best P.I. in Europe. Particularly concerned with the use of children as mere tools because of her violent past, Triela stumbles upon a concerning rumor; something about child assassins in Rome…?

Florence was bed ridden for most of her youth until the day when startling new advances in the prosthetics field allowed to live a normal life. She married a man named Emilio and has become a successful journalist, her natural inquisitiveness allowing her to excel in her field. However, she has always wondered where the research that allowed her to walk again came from. Maybe that’ll be her next story.

Claes is an aspiring novelist and Harvard graduate. Paying a visit to her old friend and mentor Raballo, she arrives in Rome only to find him dead, a cryptic message having been left for her, a package containing random newspaper clippings. Claes eventually realizes that someone had her friend and mentor killed for knowing too much. Determined to avenge his death, Claes begins to delve into the unknown.

Lisa is something of a crazy stalker. A certified pigtailed geek, she has been arrested no less than fifty separate occasions for stalking her prospective boyfriends. Lisa even has four separate restraining orders on her right now! The girl in green can’t help it; she loves them so much (until her next obsession of course)! lisa's current focus is on this handsome stud named Lauro de Sica. The problem is, his job is in the way…

Five women, one conspiracy.

Dogged by the mysterious child assassin ‘Henrietta’, can these five women uncover the ultimate conspiracy despite the odds? Can they fight against a corrupt government while surviving against superhuman killers? Can they answer the question that has cost so many lives?

Can they find out what is the Social Welfare Agency?

Idea; Girl’s best friend

Inspired by Sheo’s ‘German Sheppard’, one fic I saw in the ‘Tales of the Abyss’ section and ‘Tuxedo Gin’.

Triela always felt that Hillshire was akin to a German Sheppard.

Now he IS one.

Cashing in on his off days to finally relent to his mother’s non-stop calls, Victor is involved in a massive car accident. His mangled, barely recognizable body is pulled from the by Triela who tries in vain to save him. He expires in her arms.

In a month, Triela is reconditioned. Much like Claes before her, all memories of Hillshire are cruelly purged from her mind.

Triela’s existence is reduced to that of Claes’. She is confined to the SWA compound, living her meaningless existence as a shadow of her former self. No longer the energetic young girl, Triela is somber, depressed and most of all lonely. There is a big gaping hole in her heart where a wonderful German man used to be, and despite her sister’s best efforts, Triela continues to waste away.

Except Hillshire isn’t as dead as everyone thinks he is. One moment he’s watching his life flash before his eyes… then he wakes up in a dog pen, with the world in shades of black and white. Uh Oh. Looks like whichever death god who has that shift forgot to erase someone’s memories when they reincarnate.

Six months pass. Triela’s depression is affecting the morale of the whole agency. Bianci has enough; he goes to a pet shop and buys her a dog. Worked well enough with Claes and that annoying fluff ball. So, remembering a certain interview he had with her long ago, he buys her a German Sheppard above Jean’s loud protest.

Guess which one.

Her knight in… a fur coat… is back!

Seeing his charge all depressed and everything, Hillshire (the dog) has found his true calling. He’ll being back the Triela he used to know even if it kills him (again)!

butch Triela, there's a thought. I don't know, she's assertive, but assertive doesn't mean butch. I don't know they all seem to cute for me to really contemplate them as men. Maybe if they where uglier... Razz

Anyway Through the Looking Glass is by far my favorite. It's just really different, and interesting.

Which explains why Triela is constantly showing up at the kitchen requesting peanut butter.

It's worth mentioning that the only person I've actually, personally confirmed to have tried that stunt ended up getting mauled by the over-eager dog. Many lulz were had.

Incidentally, I once thought the chorus to one of Ricky Martin's signature tunes was 'Living to be thy low cow'.

Good loard, I put out a perfectly innocent story idea, and the next thing you know it goes to the dogs. I think I'll be unable to eat peanut butter for a long, long time.

@West Nile.
Yep, that's the general gist of it. Gunslinger Girls that never became Gunslinger Girls, but are still getting involved with the SWA buisness anyway. I love Angie the badass biker the best.

Why modify Elsa's name? I have my reasons.

Well, Henrietta is the poster girl for GSG. Adorably cute, but a complete monster when she whips out her P90 (which is huge when compared to her small stature) and starts killing things left and right. Can you imagine PI Triela's face when that too-cute-to-be-true little girl comes into her hotel room and tries to blow her head off?

Idea; Trust

Characters good for this scenario; Triela/Hillshire (Practically the poster duo for this idea), Henrietta/Jose

Some handlers try to encourage independence and initiative in their girls. However, in a mission gone wrong, one of the cyborgs accidentally shoots her handler when taking an independent action, a moment of carelessness on the handler’s part costing his fratello team dearly.

Her handler almost dies from her perceived mistake. Instead he is forced to live with a life altering injury (amputated arm, forced to walk on a crutch, blinded in one eye, etc…). Fortunately he doesn’t blame her for what happened. In his view, he was careless, and his cyborg is free from the blame.

Of course, she doesn’t see it that way.

The cyborg’s confidence is completely shattered. Her lack of concentration performance begins to drop like a rock. Perhaps she even joins Claes in the ‘can’t shoot guns’ club, developing a phobia of the tools she used to maim her partner. She is plagued by nightmares of her shooting him over and over again, the image of her holding the smoking gun reflected in his shocked eyes.

She knows had he died, she would have taken her own life there and then. Heck, even now she’s considering it.

When he returns to work, sporting his new eye patch, crutch or empty sleeve, she doesn’t trust herself to watch his back anymore. How far will her decent into despair go? How can her handler finally drag her out of it?

Alt Plot; Shattered bonds

Characters good for this Scenario; Rico/Jean, Angie/Marco

For an added challenge, make the handler blame his charge for his injury. Logically, he can understand it’s as much his fault as hers, but he can’t help but act distant to her because of it. Maybe he even begins to treat her with disdain. In this case it can only end badly.

This will have added drama, but much more challenging to write.

Idea; Secret Life of a Closet Gamer

In the fantasy world of Gaia, the great sorcerer Ferro the Firelord embarks on epic quests to gain fame, fortune and EXP! With her partner in crime, a Sauvé magic gunman known as ‘Il Commande’, they are the famous ‘Welfare Duo’, sworn enemies of the dreaded player killers ‘Franca’ and ‘Franco’!

Abrasive, outgoing and eccentric, the woman behind the avatar is actually quite different.

Ferro (of the SWA) is addicted to the MMORPG ‘Magic Chronicle, The Great Adventures’, which is actually nothing new for her. Despite her stern and aloof appearance at work, she is quite an avid gamer, anime addict and cosplayer despite her qualifications as a secret agent (she used to be a doujinshi artist, then work got in the way). She keeps her work life and social life separate, knowing she’d die of embarrassment if her longtime crush and superior Jean Croche ever found out just what she did on her free time.

The life of Ferro the agent and Ferro, great sorcerer of the floating city Remus will never cross… until an unexpected trio of newbie’s who want some guidance approach her party… ‘HnJ4Eva’ the cleric, ‘Rico’ the archer and ‘Mrs. Hillshire’ the brawler. Coincidentally, Jean had just removed the ban on internet access in the Cyborg dorms and Jose had bought all the girls copies of ‘Magic Chronicle’. Unless she’s mistaken, it’s the girls rest time now.

Uh Oh.

Also, old copies of her old (yaoi) doujinshi suddenly start popping up everywhere in the SWA premises. Somebody has become a fan of her old work… and then there’s the poster of her younger self in her old Etna (Disgaea) costume hanging over Sandro’s desk. Were it not for the fact her hair was dyed, wearing contacts and using her pen name…!

Double Uh Oh.

Caught between a rock and a hard place, can Ferro hold onto her game addiction while keeping her reputation as one of the SWA’s finest intact? Or will her hobby come out and turn her into a laughing stock?

NO way! as much as i like Triela, Gunslinger Girl is still represented by Henrietta, that's why Gunslinger Girl merchandise revolves around her, don't get me wrong il kill for a Triela plushy.

As for Petra... Etta still represents Gunslinger Girl. Petra represents all things wrong about Gunslinger Girl (al things wrong meaning, all the unnecessary fanservice and all the other 2nd gen girls... yes all of you go to hell!)
