Gunslinger Girl Collectables
When I first watched GSG, it made such a profound impression on me that owning the DVDs simply wasn't enough - I actively wanted to accrue more related to it, and I honestly felt that the show was so impeccable that the creators genuinely deserved my custom. It may seem a bizarre mode of thought, to inject emotion into the rubric of cold commerce, but I genuinely wanted to reward them. Perhaps I'm just sentimental that way...
Securing additional material for GSG though, is more difficult than you'd appreciate, as there doesn't seem to be a great bevy of merchanidising attached to the franchise. There are the mangas, of course, which I quickly snapped up, but with ADV Manga pretty much moribund we're unlikely to see Vols. 7 and up ever get an official release; other items like PVC figures are largely sold out across the board.
However, vendor site Right Stuf sells a Limited-Edition Lithograph of the girls posing on the Spanish Steps - it's a fairly common promotional image, but it's a high-quality print accompanied by a limited-edition certificate to increase its value and is also autographed by three of the English voice actresses.
At some 60 pounds or so it's quite dear, but at 16" by 20", the print is actually decent size. Given its dimensions and the quality of the reproduction it seemed a waste to just treat it like a poster (especially when I'd already spent so much on it), so I decided to plump for the additional expense of having it framed by a local art dealer:
The final result really is splendid - the frame nearly cost as much as the print itself (!), but while the price is doubled the quality is magnified by ten times more. You develop a greater respect for the efforts of curators when you see the difference that setting and context makes - there's more to galleries than just knocking nails into the walls. It was pricey overall and meant that I had to give up quite a few other luxuries to afford, but I definitely think that it was worth the investment - even those who know nothing about anime, let alone GSG, have commented that it looks good and it certainly improves my wall!
If you want another copy of the print for yourself, I bought No. 49 of 150, so I'd still say that there's plenty left for those interested.
There's my contribution, anyway - what other sort of GSG items and memorabilia do people own?

If anyone is interested in that Lithograph, The Right Stuff is currently running a 10% off sale on it (it's normally $60). They are also having a fire sale on the DVDs:
$25 for the box set ($23 for the Viridian collection box)
$6 for the Volume One or $11 with the art box
$11.25 for each of the three Viridian collection volumes

£60!? And it's got Laura Bailey's signature ruining it. T_T (I've hated her voice acting ever since I heard her play Honda Touru in Fruits Basket, which happened to also be the first anime I heard dubbed. Of course, the Japanese seiyū was no better, but I didn't know Japanese yet at the time.) All-in-all though, it's a nice looking wall hanging.

You really think that? I haven't heard her other work but I thought that she did a great job on Henrietta, a well-pitched timorousness that was really suited to a character emerging from her shell.
Gunslinger Girl -Il Teatrino- OST
Gunslinger Girl -Il Teatrino- Image Album
If you don't mind my asking, Kiskaloo, how much did you pay for these? I ask because there's an eBay lot containing them that I've been eyeing up, offering both CDs for $9.99 plus $10 postage. It's so low that it seems too good to be true - I've seen the same CDs being sold for $50 each on Play-Asia! - and given the fact that the seller's from Hong Kong as well, I'm leery about being swindled.

Re: Gunslinger Girl Collectables
I snagged mine from a used CD shop in Japan so I paid about $15 USD for each. Around $35 USD sounds right for a new one (with the Yen currently right around 100 to the USD).
If it is a Hong Kong seller it is probably a Son-May pressing. These are actually as good as the original Japanese releases, but technically they are only licensed for sale in Thailand. They are, however, very popular sellers in the US (especially at anime conventions) because they are significantly cheaper (about 1/3rd to 1/4tg) the price of the original Japanese release.

On the basis of that I'll take the plunge, Kiskaloo. The seller has a decent feedback score and in this particular case I care more about having the music to listen to than having a pristine shrink-wrapped case to appreciate on the shelf - if it is a knock-off, then at least I know that it's nothing shady and that I'm getting what I'm paying for!

I know it's hard to see in that picture.
Volumes 1-6 (Volume 3 signed by Catlin Glass)
DVD Boxed set (first volume signed by Laura Baily)
T-shirt
GSG cap
GSG messager bag
Henrietta Plush
GSG fold out of the characters
Meh games
Plus 4 figures, the Season 1 OST, 2 other shirts, and a GSG wallscroll not shown.
Sadly that's all I own. ;_;

Neither. I got a region free PS2 for 300$. You can get something to convert it so you can play the games on your own PS2, that won't cost much. The games however can be pricey. In total it cost me almost 500$ for 3 games and the system.

No, I was working in sterling in my first post. The price in dollars should be ninety...nine?
The incongruent gits knocked forty dollars off of the price after I'd bought my own! I could have saved over thirty pounds a fortnight later...!

You'll want to wait to play it till you buy the first game. The first game carries over to the second, then to the last. If you play the second then the first all the guns you unlock in the first won't be in your second save. Trust me, you'll want the ones in the first save! (One of them is a P-90)

Re: Gunslinger Girl Collectables
I like your writing style Robert Frazer, and I feel the exact same way
I own:
Volumes 1-6 of the manga
The three (and the only three) DVDs
A figurine (In Kiskaloo's post, the first one under "and two pre-assembled figures" or see link below)
3 Wallscrolls
I am trying to acquire any other good figurines, but I'm having a lot of trouble. The same goes for the games which I MUST have (darn you Triela!!). If anyone can provide any more links to any of this merchandise, I would greatly appreciate it.
Heres my contribution: http://www.amazon.com/GUNSLINGER-GIRL-HENRIETTA-SCALE-FIGURE/dp/B0016ZC6QY/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1238910372&sr=8-15 Amazon, for anyone who's generally wary of online-shopping, such as myself.
I think I bought the last the lower priced one on Amazon a while back

The Triela resin model is hard to find now -- I've had it on order for about 7 months now but it'll probably never be available. I have the 3 Henrietta figures/model.
I have the 6 volumes of manga, the 3 DVDs, the two plushies, and the wallscroll of the girls at the Steps (actually, two of the wallscrolls). I also have the OST CD.

They also have another figurine available on Amazon, however it is ridiculously priced at $170.
http://www.amazon.com/Gunslinger-Henrietta-Assault-Polystone-Figure/dp/B001FWQ5YM/ref=sr_1_47?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1238968788&sr=8-47
Does anyone know any (preferably) US-based sites where I can buy GSG figurines or anything else of the sort? Anime/Video Game merchandise that is, including a site that would sell the above-mentioned figurine at a reasonable price.
Kiskaloo, those are pretty nice.

Tommy's right, Danjo - except for one small detail. Australia's just my temporary home - I'm only here to work and study. Once I get my medical degree, it's back home I go. Home in this case being Malaysia, not China (the family has a home in China, but I haven't been there in a long time). All the same, I think airsoft guns are illegal in BOTH Malaysia and Australia.

That Henrietta figure was never cheap at any place in the US that had it. I managed to get one for about $130 -- and the place where I purchased it only managed to get one of those figures. Most mail order places were sold out of them before I even started looking for one.
Now-a-days, you are lucky to find a seller who has any of the figures in stock, never mind finding them at a reasonable price.
I'd love to find an Osaka pvc figure (Azumanga Daioh).

I understand now. BTW, cool website.Nachtsider wrote:Tommy's right, Danjo - except for one small detail.

Re: Gunslinger Girl Collectables
Got my game and mod-chip in at teh same time. Spent six hours putting the thing in. Next time I'm going with the solder-less chip.!!!
My game was NIB, which is kewl. Everything was with it and it had the japanese stickers on the outer wrap. $40. not bad, I think.
I'm taking a dinner break before final reassembly. I'll be surprised of it works though. I may have screwed something up when a surface mount resistor came off on my solder tip. Wish me luck.

Just so long as you haven't burned any track, or removed any components unless it says to (removing them and putting them back in again afterwards should be fine if you're reasonable at soldering), you should be fine
Good luck

Re: Gunslinger Girl Collectables
That thing's a nightmare. After not getting anything from it, I pulled the chip off and verified the console still works on it's own. I didn't test it fully, but the browser loaded up and that with the drive removed. So I moved the chip and rigged everything back with shorter wires and such. Now I get the firmware screen, but no browser and the Drive won't read correctly. ::bangshead::
I'm going to tear it apart again and check for bridges in my work, maybe I'll find something.
Additional: GOt it working. I had a bridge on one of the contacts I soldered. My drive, however, was not working because the contacts on the cable were all messed up. I straightened them and now it's working great. I need someone to ship me a few crates of language skills, though, I can't understand anything in that game except "Start".

Don't worry, you'll understand it with time. I was confused at first, but after a while the it got to a point where I know where things were and what buttons to press. ^_^

Woo! And I think we can safely assume that the bridge didn't burn any components out, else the console as a whole wouldn't be working right now

The truly sad part is that the frame cost twice as much as the picture. Can you say fanboy?
