She kinda looks like a genie to me too. Haven't finished cleaning it up yet.

Nice, I wanted to go with a Blue and white theme like Kasumi from DOA. but then again, a Ninja can best wear the colors of the night for consealment.

Don't take it too personal, but...

I'm not too fond of the Ninja Claes illustration.

I think she would look better if she:

1. Let her hair down
2. Change her footwear--heals is not to go. Socks and sandals (just like a Kunoichi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunoichi, or if you've played 'Red Ninja: End of Honor' it makes it easer. That could come in reference about footwear)
3. Change her clothes (A Kimono is much more preferred--shorter one, not passing the knee-caps for greater maneuverability's)
4. No gloves. Getting one tangled or wearing one would cause you to accidentally slip on of your valuable weapon or grip
5. Add some 'Shinobi/Kunoichi accessories like kunais, shurikens, or tetsugens

...and I think that's about it

The things you listed, Panzer, are the reasons I thought she looked like a flapper. (The link is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunoichi by the way, you accidently put a comma in it.) Tommy's coloring makes her look more like a ninja.

That's on my list of "to watch" - it's such a long series that I haven't gotten around to it yet (trying to finish/catch up on the long series I'm watching now). Maybe I'll have to move it up in the list now...

@ KodokuRyuu- Eh... Truthfully I don't really see the flapper look. I like the red look. Claes needs more color in her wardrobe.

@ Panzer-To be honest, this wasn't meant to be a serious ninja look. It also didn't help the reference photos I used weren't from hardcore ninja gals but from the more comedic series. But I have to say ninja girls with long hair gotta have a ponytail!

Oh and those boots aren't just any boots, she borrowed them from Triela. First she uses her bed sheet and now she takes the boots

No offense, but the coloring just makes her more stand-out. Ninjas are supposed to be assassins in the dark, the coloring just makes her look nothing like a ninja

That's ok, ninja-Claes can't dodge bullets so it doesn't matter if she stands out. I'm just kidding - you're right, Tommy's coloring makes more sense. But it's not like it has to be taken literally, so color can work too. (Ever seen Naruto?)

Lol, yeah, I kept the fact that Ninja's stalk from the shadows in mind when I chose the coloring of the clothings. though I'm no ninja, I know my own fair share of tricks in sneaking around silently.

Oh, don't get me started. Ninjas? They literally don't look like one aside from the ninjutsus, Taijutsus, and Genjutsus they perform. They do 'sound' like ninjas, but more of a fighting force--not as an assassin like what they're supposed to be during the power struggle in Japan. The Shogunate uses ninjas as a means of political assassins.

I think Claes would look even better in a purple Kimono, socks (the tabi, to be exact) and sandals, a tantō or a ninjaken to her left, and no gloves but an overall arm-gear. that doesn't entirely cover her arm--that's where shinobis get the ability to scale walls without ropes, block sword attacks, or dig.

Ooh, ooh, ooh - that's really good. I wish I was better at shading. Anyone seen/read Nabari no Ou, by the way? It's more "ninja-like" than Naruto. They just started making it into an anime recently.

Despite the boots and the gloves she's using, the new coloring is way better and it actually make her more ninja-like. I still disapprove of the heeled boots, but the coloring is what I'll give a 10/10!

i've seen Nabari no Ou,they do act as assasins and bodyguards rather than soldiers,they mostly dress in normal clothes though,presumably so they blend in !

@kodokuryuu- The picture is from a new series this season called Kanokon. From screenshots, it seems to have a lot of fanservice. >.> I would have never guessed Nabari no Ou was a ninja series from the screenshots I saw. I might have to take a look into that.

@awinnell- Thanks for posting the Ayame picture. There are a lot of similarities there! LOL...and she's wearing boots too!

One of Eri signature moves, the "step-up Enquiguiri" is also the same move Triela pulled in season 1 episode 4. It's definitely Yu Aida's intention to tie the 2 together

Oh, so there is an anime and manga of Nabari no Ou. Is one better to start over the other? Maybe I'll check out the manga first since the picture Kodoku posted looks really awesome.

Here's another practice coloring I did recently for an old Triela sketch I inked up. At the time I wondered what Triela would look like in some sort of yukata/kimono. She's supposed to be on a mission in Japan during the summer (fanfic idea anyone?). Some parts of the intial drawing were crappy so I tried to fix it up. Oh and don't ask about the gun...It's my first time drawing one.



Besides that, I hope you don't mind some old art. I've been organizing some art I did a while ago and thought I'd share some pieces people might like.

For the Link fans. I did this drawing with pencil back in highschool right before my physics final. Btw, I hate physics. Tried to, but never understood it.

Good Kimonos were usually inherited; they're expensive to find. Mostly in festivals, Yukatas is the one that will be chosen most of the time because its cheaper

Say Sakura, how about creating a drawing of all the girls in a Yukata/Kimono while they enjoy a drink or something durring a celebration?

Though this drawing is great, I am starting to dislike seeing a gun in conjunction with such a wonderful sight.

I know some members pair their OCs with the girls, but I thought I'd try my hand at possible canon pairings. More like they could have been canon, but can't because the other was killed off. >.> But hey...it's fanart so anything is possible. X3

Triela x Pino sketch (There's been some talk about this pairing and it's been bugging me. At first I disliked it, but over time it started to grow on me. There isn't much fandom on this pairing so I figured why not? Decided on a more mutual pose, though Pino looks like he wants to use the knife on someone )




Rico x Emilio Sketch (If you are wondering 'Who the hell is Emilio?', he's the guy that worked at the hotel where Rico was assigned to kill a politician. He was around when Rico was on the job and well...he only made a one chapter/episode appearance. His crush on Rico was cute so I did a sketch of the two holding hands. I like Rico's expression since she's clueless as to why Emilio looks like his mind is in another world.)

Did you know that in the doujin, Emilio was meant to survive the confrontation with Rico even manage to ask her out? We get a "meet the in-laws" scene when Jean crashes the date and is like "Who the hell are you?"

Wait, there is a doujin of this? If so, give me it! Unless you're joking and it doesn't exist (though I wish it did) >.>
