Rome is burning ... Rome was burning in front of me, right now . The fire lit the night sky , illuminating the great works of the city. The most prominent of which is the Great Colosseum . It looks like a giant furnace , or an inferno from the old Renaissance tale , or both . Flames welled in the aisles and smoke spilled from the doorway , bring the soul of the dead through the afterlife .They're burning the dead, and the dying, at that place . Along the streets, gunfire rang out everywhere and screams are carried by the wind into the doorway, creating a ghostly song of death and chaos . 


Roma , the oldest and greatest city in human history , once called the Eternal City , has become the City of the Dead and Dying . And I'm in the middle of it , looking at it and swallow it whole . Because tomorrow , when the sun rises , I will become a part of it.

Day 1 :

The diary of Lieutenant Hong Hai , Vietnamese People's Army . 7th Guards Corps- Diplomatic protection unit

1st June 2018

I can't believe I agreed to write this journal, but my wife has insisted. Kat' has always been the boss in our marriage. I remember her words as I picked up my kitbag from the front door and was about to leave our apartment. She handed me this leather-bound notebook, my name in gold on the front, said to me that she wanted me to write in it every day, so,if anything happened ,she would have something to remember me by. Thinking back as I write this, it seemed a bit extreme! But I could hardly refuse.

..... 

We arrived at our unit's barracks on the outskirts of Saigon today, and, before we could even unpack our kit, the call went up that we were on the move again. The whole platoon , forty seven men, was up and into a convoy of trucks and on the road before midday.

This is the way to the airport. I have a bad feeling about this. 

......

Now, as I write this, one word seems to be on everyone's lips, passed by the mouth of the lieutenant colonel himself.

"Rome"

Code:

"Red zone"

For some reason, a slight shiver went down my spine as Sergeant Nam , one of my aides, whispered it to us. A slight sense of foreboding even ,at that name.

For Kat's, or for anyone reading my diary, for whatever reason you have ...  Red zone means trouble , as always ,

But this time we had to be there immediately . For whatever reason, we did not know...but it seems they are willing to throw us into hell, right away, to solve that problem as fast as possible

To protect someone or to kill someone , maybe , or to kidnap a runaway !? 

We will know soon enough...

Guns are piled on the table, all kinds,  from small pistols to heavy machine guns . Next to it was a pile of military equipment, thrown down from the truck ten minutes ago...

This has never happened before...

"Choose your weapon, dress yourself and then come to me in half an hour".

The commands are simple and short, just like our minds right now. But we will obey, because that's how we roll ( funny!? )

I always like to point out things. A daydreamer, they told me so. But it will be boring if you do not imagine the future, because the future is uncertain. Especially in our work "For tomorrow we die, maybe, or not, we live ... who dare to be sure about the future !? "

Ok. That's me bullshit about things . Don't mind it

But now I need a gun that will definitely work when I need it. That's for sure, for a future of mine when I can get back to my wife .

Simple and easy to understand, I will take my AKMS. I realized it, among hundreds of other guns, almost immediately ... (That means after about 5 minutes, I guess that's good enough for a 6 month relationship) We often have to sit in the car or stand behind closed doors, you know, and often have to shoot out from there. And it is very convenient for me to sit in a narrow place and shoot with this beauty 

Inshort : I love her , and she loves me too. Never let me down before .

And another one for Rome, they use five-five-six there. So I will need something that can be shared with them, in case we work together, or kill each other. SIG MCX will do the job... A simple tip : Use a European company's gun in a European country, it will leave a good impression on your partner if you want to work well with them.

As for the secondary weapon(or the third weapon!?) A 9mm M93r . Why!?

For my wife: Darling, if you are reading these lines and wondering, "How the hell did he have time to write all this bullshit when he was only half an hour?" That's because you dear husband just wrote them after boarding, stabilizing the seat and then eat the hot meal brought by the hostess. And now he is going to sleep, right now.

P.s : I have brought enough warm clothes and necessary things. No worry . Love you .

The flight was long and boring. 14 hours ,  non stop .
At first, people began to talk about abnormalities in this mission. It's too weird and everyone wants to tell the person sitting next to them that "It's so weird ...What do you think about this?" to relieve tension inside them .  But after three hours of heated discussion with more than a hundred different hypotheses about this amazingly fast deployment . Everyone get bored and went back to their own place to do their own thing

The only one who really knew what was going on was Lieutenant Colonel, and he disappeared into the front seat , along with a hostess ....But I guess he himself did not know much about this mission. Because after he returned to his seat, he continually drank mineral water, probably to relieve stress ... or to rehydrate after intense activity. Or both .

What about me !? First, as a good soldier, I checked my weapons. My AKMS was quite old, older than me. But it was repaired and upgraded with the best that I could find. I feel more comfortable with it than with other modern things , as if it were my extended arm , so I kept it with me. Next up is the SIG MCX, which is good and modern. I spent more than an hour to get used to it .I even went to the storage area to do tactical exercises with it and the M93r . I also checked my necessities in my backpacks, to see if something was missing. All are there and in good condition.

After completing all that preparation, as an exemplary soldier , I was bored and tried to flirt with one of the attendants . But in the end, she turned me down.

I hope eight films and two porn movies in my phone can help me fight this boredom...

Now , I'm sitting comfortably on my chair and are writing these lines . We have just crossed Russian airspace to Europe. The mission is about to begin
