Age of the Girls In Gunslinger Girl

We all know that these girls have short life spans, but episode 4 of the first season where Triela and Hennrietta are talking about her teddy bears had me thinking. Triela says that Hillshire gets her the same gift every year and at that time in the episode she had 7. It is likely that more than half of those teddy bears are given as gifts from trips or some sort, but it had me thinking what if these girls are a lot older than they seem? and their life spans are actually longer than we thought?

I think they're exactly the age they seem. They stress they're youngness in the anime and manga. They're little adolecant girls. And they're life spans aren't that long. Triela proabaly got all those bears for rewards as well as maybe 2 or 3 christmases.

been over this many a time. those teddy bears are most likely not just a yearly thing. Just because she gets 'em for Xmas doesn't mean she doesn't get 'em as mission rewards, souveniers from vacations, 'birthday (aka reconstruction day)' presents, et cetera.

I think it says somewhere in the manga that she gets them for completing missions particularly well too. There is also that time when she gets two for Xmas in volume 4 (or something)/

If...

• Angie was the first cyborg
  
• Triela came after her at age six
  
• Triela underwent seven Christmases at the Agency
  

...why, if the cyborgs *do* grow up, has Angie not aged seven years since? And why, if the cyborgs *don't* grow up, does Triela look like a thirteen-year-old and not a six-year-old at the time of her first appearance?

I think I can safely say I've pwned the theory of Triela having spent seven years at the Agency.

Of course not!! Angelica was the prototype and the first girl there. The agency has been around for a long time (even before the girls were there). Angelica has been there the longest. The others for a shorter time, but still a considerable amount.

The SWA has been around for years.
They never mention how they discovered that theimplants works best in children- who knows- a set of adult cyborgs were made for section and they all end up dead in their first missions?

Angelica came in at about 5 or 6.
She's been in there for at least as long.

All the others came in about a year or two after she did. They took their time with her. The others were rushed.
So the first Gen girls now about between 13/14 (Triela) and 11-12 (Angie and Henrietta). The only one we do know in the beginning is Ricco who is 13. She went in at 11 and already spent 2 years in the SWA.

In Episode 3- Rico was 13.
By Season 2/Episode 5, 2 Xmas had passed by, making Rico between 14 or 15.

If 2 Xmas' had passed since the first series to the second, then the girls are at least 2 years older than we know them to be.

I agree. Angelica was at the least 8 years old. That means 3 years at the Agency= 11. That seems like the right age for her.

I put her at nine, and not aging physically after being roboticized - hance looking the same after.

Maybe people think the girls age because of the change in art style, but they're supposed to be the same age and look the same.
