Battle of Britannia Doujin
Ogistune's got so much different stuff that I figured I'd start breaking it up into multiple threads to try to facilitate ongoing discussion (I figure it'll be easier to facilitate long term discussions when the discussions aren't all getting interrupted by each other). Hopefully that's not a problem.
Anyhow this thread is for the Battle of Britannia doujin.
Here are the current chapters that are posted on Danbooru:
Prologue Chapter: Fairwell, Fair Gallia
Chapter One: Over the White Cliffs
Chapter Two: To Defend My Home
Chapter Three: Ace High March
Chapter Four: Foxtrot
Just going to repost the set of cast profiles from earlier here as welll:
SqL Constantia Harvey
FSgt Anna McBein
LA May Harvey
WO Alstede Brand
FO Magdalena Kaczynski
FLt Fine Falke
PO Heike Falke
Sgt. Katerina Kricka

Re: Battle of Britannia Doujin
So anyhow, I brought over Chapter One on the weekend -had to do it in two batchs since my upload limit was fifteen images at the time (meaning I could have up to fifteen images waiting for approval).
There's been a little bit of translation work done and both the prologue and the first chapter. The prologue is farther along. There's bits missing, especially during the air combat sequence near the end, but at this point it's possible to understand a lot of what's going on.
It's actually really good. It seems a bit darker than the anime, but it does have its comedic moments. I really like Constantia Harvey (the main character). I didn't think all that much of her from the profile that was posted a while back, but she proved to be pretty awesome in the prologue.
Fan service thus far doesn't seem quite as over the top as canon Strike Witches, although are a fair number of panty shots, most prominently during during a couple of crash landings.
Chapter Two's up on Pivix, but I think I may give it a while before I
bring that over. New chapters don't come out all that frequently and I
don't want to overwhelm the translators too much.

Very interesting. I do look forward to Chapter 2 when you decide to bring it over. This will go along quite well with the firstspear doujins.

Re: Battle of Britannia Doujin
I'm thinking of trying to bring Chapter Two to Danbooru next weekend. In the meantime, I brought over this super-fanservicey picture of the lead character in the hope that it'll bring some attention to the project and maybe get it a new translator. I felt a bit uncomfortable bringing that one over but hey, if anything's going to get the project some attention I figure a fan service pic with lots of fan servicey tags will. Notice that at the time of this posting it already had a score of two even though it had been up on danbooru for less than half an hour.

Re: Battle of Britannia Doujin
Getting way behind on keeping this up to date... I posted Chapter Two: To Defend My Home on Danbooru a while back (warning for very brief shower scene fan service). The real big news though is that someone who had been involved in translated Ogitsune's work early on then had been gone for quite a while made a recent reappearance and went on a huge translating binge. So Chapters One and Two are now basicallly translated!

Re: Battle of Britannia Doujin
Thanks Sheo.
Ogitsune actually released Chapter Three earlier this week. I brought it over to Danbooru but unfortunately the guy who did a lot of the translation work on the last couple of chapters has disappeared again so it could be a while before the new chapters is fully translated (there is another translator who does some work, but he generally only does little bits here and there). I kind of suspect the guy may be a student.

Oh man... I do love the dedication you're showing in keeping both this and the 1991 thread flowing, mon ami. Please, keep up the stellar work!

Thanks, although I think the original artist deserves more credit than I do. Plus there's the guy whose done the lion's share of the translation for this stuff on Danbooru. I've mostly just stepped in and started bringing pics over to Danbooru from Pixiv when it appeared that other people had stopped doing so. Well, that and posting a bunch of links here.
Well okay, I can take credit for the character concepts behind three of the SW 1991 witches. But even there I wouldn't have been able to get far without the cooperation of the artist and the guy who did the translation work that helped the two of us communicate.

Yes, but even if you're merely serving as the conduit, I would not have found out about either one of these projects, were it not for you, so I certainly think that your... "marketing" (for lack of a better word) deserves at least an honorable mention! *chuckles*
