Great AMVs
The greatest AMV I have ever seen Now this is how you make an AMV.
Not a selection of random scenes like too many AMVs seem to be. Plus, high
quality video, no subtitles, and being from Azumanga doesn't hurt either
What other great AMVs has anyone else stumbled across?
Edit: replaced video link; previous link went down

In a similar vein to "Waka Laka for Osaka", here's another neural overload from the same editor. Filter effects up the whazoo, cutting faster than a jet turbine, and probably not advisable viewing for epileptics, I give you Chikaboom's "Attack of the Otaku":

Re: Great AMVs
I just passed the audition stage for this year's G&S production, which is particularly good because it's the society's 40th anniversary and we've been given permission to perform in a commercial theatre, which is certainly a step-up from a cleared dining hall which is our usual venue. We're doing The Mikado, which should resonate with an anime & manga forum as the first production in the 1880s made Japan fashionable and transformed both England and America into a mass of raging weeaboos that no otaku today could hope to conpete with! That said, though, I don't exactly have top billing: I'm Go-To, second from the bottom and a part that's usually cut in many performances...
Anyway, the occasion made it seem appropriate to post this little ditty:

This one is also good, although I'm not sure how to embed from Myspace (is that even possible?) so I'm linking to it instead:

Little notice: first 14 episodes are slow/medium paced to get you familiar with the setting but you won't know where the story is going, next 12 episodes change the tone quite a bit and it becomes a fast paced action roller coster with plot twists and cliffhangers at almost every episode.

Any raws available by any chance?I'd try and remux it with urechii's subs, though you'd lose the epic typesetting work they did on the show.

Enjoy Dennou Coil, it was amazing to me.
I can't stop watching the Waka Laka for Osaka video...everytime I get about mid-way and a part of my mind says "what the **** am I watching!?" but it is quickly melted away by a blast of color and an ooze of cuteness.

I can't bring my self to actually post this but original Spoof music for an anime is a testimate to creativity even if they are terrible singers (not the original singers of the original song were that great either anyways https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9R1CLzMD5E&feature=related

Re: Great AMVs
I'm not always a bit fan of super heavily edited AMVs, as some of them seem to lose sight of the basics and just seem to bombard you with tons and tons of stuff to the point where it's difficult to keep up. Whoever did this one however actually knows how to use heavy editing effectively, so it's awesome (even if it somehow ends up making a sci-fi series involving a beseiged colonisation fleet look like some cheery high school romantic comedy -the theme of this video is actually a bit ironic when you consider that one of the characters featured in it dies protecting another):

Two "Panty & Stcoking With Garterbelt" AMVs
These will probably be my last AMVs for a good few months at the very least - I've got a shedload of work coming up that I simply can't put off any longer. However, hopefully they let me go out with a bang.
Better Red Than Dead!
Scanty & Kneesocks are recurring villainessess... but that also entails recurring defeats, too. Still, they'll doggedly, determinedly dust themselves down and mount another assault - after all, perseverence is not only a virtue, it's a ruuuuuuuuuruu.
Not unlike a certain duo from another popular anime...
A Pithy Display of Wit and Candour
Secondly, we have a shorter piece I put together with spare footage - somehow, South Park's Terence & Philip seems a perfect encapsulation of the spirit of the series, and it plays on the amusing Engrish that peppers the dialogue.
Unfortunately I can't post a YouTube stream because Warner Music Group is an enemy of joy. Here is a link to a mirror version over at animemusicvideos.org:

Re: Great AMVs
Dude,I was about to post this in the "awesome amv" thread when I just realised it was you who made this (might still do it in case other members don't see this).
Of course the song choice was evident and on top of it the execution is awsome, the right clips at the right time (for exemple the 2 cars colliding together) or small touches like the "ruuuuuuruuuuuu" soundbite of the anime.
This is my favorite of yours so far,so yes you just went out with a bang, to me it should have a great success within the fandom, the only thing preventing it from having universal success is the fact that i guess you need to have seen the anime to fully enjoy it.
Havn't seen the second one so i'll get back to you.

Well, I didn't put it in the "Great AMVs" thread because I didn't want to sound too presumptuous about its quality!
That said, though... blimey. I must have hit the G-spot with this video - it's gained over 1,400 views in just a day!
Not to say that I'm not grateful, but the scale of it is baffling. I suppose it helps to ride the wave of the zeitgeist with a current show.

Question with this thread -is this only for fan made AMVs, or are professional ones okay as well? I ask because one of my favorite series (those of you who know what I've been obsessed with lately can probably guess which one) recently released an official set of music videos.

A word of caution, Piero - if you ever even so much as contemplate for the scantest infinitescimal moment the mere prospect of posting professional music videos on this page, a SWAT van under the authority of the Forum Police will crash through your garden wall and churn up your flower bed, before the strike team smash down your door, beat you senseless, terrorise your cat and egg the walls and windows before roaring off. They'll then overspend on your credit card and post embarassing photos of you having a tea party with your little sister's Barbie dolls to everyone in your Facebook friends list and mobile phone address book. You have been warned. Punk.

Now might not be the appropriate time Robert, but I had some concerns about the legality of the Letters of Marque we issued to those kids: apparently the "Forum Police" isn't yet an internationally recognized authority. Go figure.

Re: Great AMVs
Robert -I might be more concerned about posting these if there was an official North American release of the series. But there's not.
Anyway, these are from the Macross Frontier "Nyan Clip" music video collection. It's actually a bit more than a music video collection actually -it has some fake interviews of the two singer characters (unfortunately they're not translated) as well as some fake advertisements featuring one of them. The music videos themselves contain some footage from the movie and TV show but also a lot of completely new footage. It's actually pretty good, though unfortunately the vocaloid-inspired dancing CGI models that show up in a couple segments ruined the series previously excellent track record for knowing when it should and shouldn't use CGI models (it works great for dogfighting spacecraft, but not for characters).

Robert -I just looked back at your post now. I think at the time I thought one of the mods did the editting rather than you, probably because of Natch's post following it. Therefore I wasn't entirely sure what had originally been said. But yeah... sometimes humour gets lost in the translation to internet text.
