GSG Forum get together

In talking to and gettign to know everyone on this forum I have noticed that some of us live within a relatively close proxmimity to each other. If other members are amenable to the idea I would like to propose a get together of some sort for those of us who live near one another. For myself that would be New Jersey. I think this would be a nice way to meet the friends and aquantences we have made on the forum in real life and has a good time in the process. I am in the central NJ area and would propose meeting in Philly and heading to Manyunk or going into NY city. Let me know if you think this is a good idea.

I live on the other side of the contnent, so it's not the most feasible thing for me. Piero and Outfox are in the same position. I guess if I saved up money and stopped buying anime/stuff completely (which is unlikely Razz

) I could make it possible perhaps I think.

Yeah. That sounds like a good idea to have different places to meet. It seems there are a lot of people willing to go to the NYC. That's great! =D

Since there seems to be some people in and around NY city interested in making the get together a reality why don't we try and plan meeting up in the city soon. I think a saturday afternoon or sunday afternoon might work best. I do not know the city so the best I can propose is to meet at central park or some other well know landmark. I am open to ideas.

In the county my school is in 95% of all stores are closed on Sunday, yay blue laws.

I'm from PA originally, but as I'm in Texas currently I'm a bit out of range unfortunately. Having a soon-to-be fiancee in Florida has kind of sucked up my travel budget too.

When I was in PA, I lived out in Amish country though. I remember nothing being open...ever really. XD

I'm all the way down on the Gulf Coast, but getting up to NYC is no problem for me. Scheduling, however, does present issues, as I'm sure it does for a lot of us.

I'm a west coast guy, as I alluded to in my above post. Unfortunately, I'm on an island and in British Columbia, so the only people relatively near me are Outfox and Piero. And speaking of anime conventions, well, I know there's several in Seattle and Vancouver. The only one I regularly attend is Anime Evolution, though. There used to be one in Victoria, but alas! it is no more.

There's a Nintendo Store. That's awesome. The only places I know in NYC is the Intrepid Museum, Liberty Island, Broadway, and Chinatown. Oh and the Central Station.

If we do ever pull together a West Coast meetup, someone PM me. Might even have the time and resources to make it to a con this year... assuming it's not in SoCal. Much like the Middle East, I'm just not built to survive down there for long.
Unfortunately, SakuraCon is looming, and there's just no way I can pull it off next month with school... maybe in summertime...

Well guys after looking at a calender I was thinking on trying to put something together for those of us in the vacinity of NYC to try and meet up either the first or second weekend in June the 5/6 or the 12/13. As for a meeting place why don't we meet up at penn station since some of us will most likely come in by train. I don't know of anything anime related in the city to see or do so I am open to suggestions. Let me know what you guys think.

There is an Anime store in the area of Pen Station, and Neo Tokyo in the East Village. Then there is Forbidden Planet. Not much else unless Triela or Cherubino knows of other places.

And we can do more than just shopping...

If you're talking about Kenokunia (sp??) then that place is a definite yes! W could go to China Town too and get some awesome food and hang out there. I know there's an arcade too. ^_^

I have not been the ChinaTown Arcade since I was dating Jeanie... a very long time agoi in a high school far away...!

For some reasons the books there are dreadfully expensive at the conventions but the Macross CD I bought was around the normal price I'd expect to pay online.
