The Author's Block Corner
I figure maybe we could use something of this. Its like a small haven where those who were struggling to write could ask for assistance and help on what to proceed on the story. Besides, I might as well propose one right now.
Alright, its been about 3 months since I publish another chapter in 'The Detective's Daughter'. I haven't got the time, but when I really have the time to write, things doesn't seem to be working right in my mind.
First off: Currently I'm in a chapter where Frederick is now confronted with Triela. His determination is set to pretty much wound her and kill Roland. However, here's the problem.
I do not know how to proceed upon executing such 'battle' which is more or less turn into a cat and mouse game with Roland and Triela attempting to escape the school. Sure, Frederick IS hesitant upon executing the orders more or less but what I can't put out is to mix the feeling of 'evil' sort of way in the 'present' while a more memorable 'loving and caring' in the flashback between the two.
You can say that their relationship goes way back.
...Roland's fate will also be determined here. But that's another story. Suggestions?

Re: The Author's Block Corner
Well, right now, I'm not so much having writer's block, so much as word block. I can't find the right words to make things work despite knowing what I want to do. My way around this, and it may or may not help you, is to just focus on something else. I find that if I force something, I end up terribly unhappy with the results. So I just leave it be and work on something else. Sure, it makes for longer waits, but I end up happier with the product in the long run, so I feel better about it.
As of right now, that something(s) else would be a few original fiction works and a Persona fanfic. I've been feeling things coming along though, so I may or may not start working on my fics again soon.
Hopefully, I have been of some use.

Haha, I know how that goes West. It doesn't help that I prefer writing by hand in notebooks... so when it comes time to transfer to the computer, I end up procrastinating.

There is, but it involves drilling holes into your head and planting electrodes into your brain. Works well with quadraplegics and others with nuero/muscle diseases, but it takes a long (up to 6 months) training to get the brain tuned into the electronics to work it.

indeed it does. I was blocked up something fierce for weeks but managed to eek out a sentence here and there. Finally I figured out how to get through it and was on my way.
Most of my situation writing goes on at work when I'm stocking freight, a mindless task for the most part. When I get home, and if I feel like writing, I simply add transitions as needed and the rest flows.
Really, there's no way to force a blockage away (well, maybe with Madlax). Sometimes I'll just sit on it and let the scenario revolve around itself in my head and eventually I'll come up with something.

But as for the grammar part, that machine wont do anything to correct what is already in your head.

There was a slightly less advanced version on The Gadget Show last year, which didn't involve drilling holes in your head. It did, however, involve wearing a silly hat, and was basically typing but without using your hands (there was a virtual keyboard and you had to think of the point you wanted to click, or something like that).

I dont know. Having my head plugged into something... even if its just picking up brainwaves and not connected to my brain physically, is scarey. If they can scan the output of brainwaves, they can try to pump such signals in. Last thing I need is for some script kiddie to come into my compy, get access and start hacking my grey matter to bits.
At least with a keyboard- what is the worst they can do? Command: Kill SysOP (send 50,000 volts through the keyboard- YAY!!!)

Re: The Author's Block Corner
You realise keyboards and mice are connected to the +5v, right? Even the PSU would get a max of about 350v (here in the UK, at least) and an average of about 220v Having said that, they could theoretically try to pump up the amps, but that would reach a maximum of 60A before the wires in the walls would melt, and a lot less than that before the fuse went. Though these are all UK values, I don't have a clue what it's like anywhere else...
But I take your point. GitS and Virus Buster Serge are rather good examples of this, even if they are just sci-fi

I've never played the original game though, although I have played KTron and various other lightcycle games (KTron = too small a game area, otherwise good, a second I played sucked, however.)

Tron 2.0 is a fucking sweet game. It is more of a first person shooter with all the paras and dangers you may know from the movies. Heck, Disk combat can be a bitch at first but you get used to it. use your own disk to block an in coming enemy disk, and after the block you quickly throw the disk towards the enemy who's disk you just blocked. a lot of reflex and hand eye coordination because the enemy flings those things at you like crazy like a fire fight. killing corrupted program will leave behind a memdump. its just a loot dump, which sometimes yield weapons for you. of course you'll have to wait around at the membump so you can download the data, and after that you may need to port the data/defrag it/or virus clean it.
Heck some times your attack programs will be corrupted if a corrupted program hits you. The game is build with the same game engine as used for the second 'No one lives forever' game by monolith. I personally don't have anything bad to say about the engine it often made me miss judge a jump or something small.
The only general problem with the game that I could see was the light cycle bit. Ok light cycles are cool but what is annoying about it is that at a certain stage in the game you are forced to play the light cycle mini-game. or the story wont progress. and you must win each match too because loosing means your character gets deleted (Not the Save game but as per the Tron universe). What also frustrates me is that the auto-save is nearly none-existent. so manual quick-saves are encouraged.

Just a curious question while I'm writing the next chapter of 'The Detective's Daughter'...
Since it will be the fight between Luke and Frederick, how would you guys feel if I say that Frederick is..
...anti-Semitic?

Question:
OK, if you've read the last chapter of the 'Detective's Daughter', you might have a hint on what kind of question I'm asking.
IF Triela wants to escape the school (don't forget Rachel and Fernando), with the sirens of police and crowd coming in and around the school complex, what would be the best NON-VIOLENT methods available?

Re: The Author's Block Corner
The cyborgs should be able to run faster than an average person. And Fernando is not exactly average.
The best way to leave would be through the furthest side street exit possible and duck inside an alley to get to the other side. From there they can quick walk out of the area, and to where ever Fernando has his 928 parked at.

(OC)Norse has been sent from England to Scotland to protect a guy and his family.
How important does this guy have to be to get a cyborg bodyguard?
Can he just be a longtime friend of the queen or something?

Responsibility for the security of royal sites falls to the Metropolitan Police, who also provide the ever-present Royal Protection Squad - the Royal Family's bodyguards.
Met officers are tasked with securing the grounds and buildings within the perimeter, while the local force takes responsibility for policing beyond the gates.
Members of the Royal Protection Squad - all experienced officers who are firearms and driving experts trained by the SAS - are assigned to all key royals .

I guess the guy can be an important politician that has had his life threatened. It's gotten worse, and now his family is being targeted.

I expect he wouldn't be a senior Minister or Member of Parliament, since they already have security details assigned to them and if a threat was registered against them or their family, that detail would be increased.
So you'd want someone who maybe was wealthy or powerful in the civilian side who would have private security, but has contacts in the upper echelon's of Her Majesty's Government who could secure for him a cyborg.
Essentially, you're looking for the English version of Chairwoman D'Angelo (head of the Straight of Massina Bridge project).

Politicians do not have that much power in order to have cyborg body guards assigned to them when normal ones hired by the police will do. Research Scientists, especially those who had or currently are working on secret government work, is another matter...

If you want something compact and small, a revolver would do--though I'm thinking more on the line of Enfield revolvers or Nagant revolvers strangely...
Semi-auto pistols, the small and compact ones were Makarov pistols...that's Cold War relic, yes, but its small enough and compact enough.
Anyway, anyone still remember West-san's handler? I mean, Sophia's handler's name? I couldn't bother looking it up here

Hm, a cloak? Well then... Derringers. Lots and lots of Derrigners. Like, 50+ of them. Impritical? Yes SIR! I'd like to see a scene where the derrigner cloak is prodiuced and everyone goes 'No way buddy'.
Seriously though... If you want to go British, have her use a Webley Revolver (Mk IV perhaps?), Browning Hi-Power or SiG P226. I'm no expert at guns tho' and am just going by what I've seen in Torchwood.

The Bowning Hi-power is the standard semi automatic pistol of the British armed forces,i think the SAS uses Sigs these days, but if 007 is anything to go by then a Walther ppk or p99 could also be used !
if you are going to use a Webley then use the .455 version the .38 was made to make it easier to train conscripted soldiers !

They work the same as the Social Welfare Agency, so I wanted a name that sounds like they're there to help the public, not just the royals.
If they have guards in the name, it might raise suspicion.

Just my two cents.
I think there are a number of defunct defence intelligence agencies in the UK like MI-7 (propaganda and censorship), MI-10 (weapons and technical analysis), MI-16 (scientific intel), etc...
Given that MI-5 and MI-6's official stance is that they never operate outside of the laws of the UK (i.e no lisence to kill) you could have a 'supposedly defunct' MI agency act as the Black Ops arm of the government.

That's a brilliant idea, especially since the bunch back in old Blighty now call themselves SIS (Secret Intelligence Service). Don't think the MI numbers are in use anymore

Ministry of Public Welfare sounded nice, even though I don't know what a ministry is.

Military Intelligence. The Brits used to put MI and then a number for their intelligence departments and MI6 deals with foreign stuff while MI5 deals with homeland spying

A ministry is like a department ,but we have a prime minister, and members of Parliament are called ministers, the term Minister is an middle English phrase, stemming from the Old French word ministre, meaning 'servant'

MI6 also spy in the US, at the US governments request, the US constitution forbids the US gov spying on their own territory but says nothing of asking an ally to do it !

Actually, the second Bush Administration's lawyers ruled that the President has the authority to ignore the Constitution during times of war (declared or undeclared) so the NSA now routinely performs surveillance on US nationals both at home and abroad since the US is in a state of war against various foreign groups. To the best of my knowledge, the Obama Administration to date continues to follow the previous Administration's rulings.
