This is meant so we can list Assault Rifles that our OCs have use in combat--literally everything small-arms like RPGs, AKs, etc.

I'll start some (whoever is last, organize the entire list into one long list... :p Nawh, just kidding. I'll list it into one whole list later)

There is also a Weapons' and FireArms' section in the wiki that needs filling!

seems slightly redundant to have a separate firearms section in there... I can see why we need one just labeled 'weapons', for melee weapon users and such, but by and large it'll just be a list of firearms anyway.
plus, I included my OC's weaponry in their profiles.

Younger Alpha has no assault rifle weaponry whatsoever. That job is left to Omega and her Steyer AUGA1 (F88C Modifications).

I can't draw for beans right now, but here are his modifications.

A quick-release telescoping stock.
-Goes with Al's preference for blunt objects. As an advantage over the existing collapsible stock it can become a club in an instant.

Existing barrel has been replaced with a custom one.
-In place of the 17.7 in. barrel is a 18.5 in. barrel rifled to 1:16. The compensator is still at the end of the barrel, but has been replaced with a screw top compensator for a ready switch to a suppressor.

Piccatiny Rail installed
-Needed for the various equipment required for the numerous assignments he undertakes as a field operative. Scope, light, etc.

Kara uses an HK XM8 rifle.

While the program will be canceled 18 months after Kara joins the Agency, with at least 250 prototypes produced, they can secure a dozen or score for spare parts.

The main reason (well, main reason other then it being an HK) is that it is very modular, which is beneficial to an operative.



She normally carries it in Compact Cabine mode both for ease of storage and since most firefights are at close ranges.

I would not expect her to ever need the baseline carbine (much less carbine with grenade-launcher) option(s).

The sharpshooter option would be good for sniping, though NATO 5.56x45mm is not the best round for such roles. So she'd be using it more in an "overlook" capacity, backing up other operatives from a nearby location.

And the Automatic Rifle mode would be useful for providing suppressive fire for open-area operations (like where they take out the Italian Army unit assisting the PRF).

Heh. The XM8 is very, VERY popular among OC cyborgs.

I really wanted it to be HK (I own an HK93 and VP70) and I wanted something that could be multi-functional and fit in a violin case or shoulder bag.

I like Henrietta's FN P90 for it's size, but I didn't want the same weapon for Kara and I wanted something with some more punch, which is why I looked at the MP7 which I could pair with a prototype HK UCP since they both fired the same round.

I also looked at the G36C, especially since the Gruppo di Intervento Speciale use them. However, I decided to do some more research and I came across the XM8 and at that point, I was sold.

Double heh. The G36C and MP7 are just as popular...

Well it clear everyone here is a connoisseur of fine weaponry.

I'm the kind of guy who prefers each OC to have a unique weapon. But that's just my personal opinion; aspiring OC creators don't have to pay my nitpicking any heed.

That honestly makes since, in that it allows the Agency to combine fratello's for maximum flexibility. Witness the first chapter/episode where Henrietta goes in with a PDW to engage the bad guys at close range (where you don't want a super-penetrating round) while Rico was sniping at targets of opportunity from a distance.

But then, since they are part of the Italian military and the Italians would likely standardize on at least some weapons (including HK), that the operatives/cyborgs would use them too also seems possible.

I suppose, really, they are the weapons the OC's are most comfortable with since they handle them the most. If a mission called for Rico to be "up close and personal", Kara or Triela, for example, would both be trained on how to use Rico's sniper rifle and be accurate enough with it to get the job done. It is just that it's Rico's primary long-range weapon and she would be the most proficient with it, so she'd be the optimum choice - especially if working towards the outer edge of that weapon's performance envelope (long-range shot, high cross-wind, etc.).

This applies to the GsGirls and their Handlers.

Actually, I doubt an agency like the SWA tends to want their kills to be too distinctive. They're not assassins for hire with reputations to keep up, after all. Sometimes its preferable for the kills to be untraceable.

Anyhow, Kiskaloo, were did you read about the GIS using G36Cs? I would have thought if they used any short barreled 5.56mm HKs, they'd be the old HK53s... I even seem to remember on an online listing that they supposedly had grenade launchers for use on HK53s, though I'll admit I wouldn't consider the source very credible. Still, the HK53 is similar to the MP5, which the GIS makes heavy use of.

Course, an HK53 wouldn't solve your distinctiveness issue. Diana uses one as her viola case gun.

HK416 and 417 are modular, although I'm not sure they have a specialised SAW type variant.

It may not be specifically the G36C (though it makes since as an counter-terrorist unit), but the Wikipedia entry on G36 operators mentions the GIS (even though the GIS wiki page says they use nothing larger then an MP5, which I find a bit difficult to believe - I would expect they need one weapon with more firepower).

I've seen other sites list weapons other then the MP5.  Usually, they seem to list Beretta SCP-70/90s and Steyr AUGs as far as assault rifles go.  I've actually seen a pic and some footage of an ACOG equipped Steyr AUG A2 in GIS hands.  Can't remember seeing a photo of one with an SCP-70/90 though, although that is a folding stock carbine variant of the standard Italian Army assault rifle.
