Funny Walk?

Though it should be in the 'cyborg secrets' forum, I've notived this in several characters in the anime doing this, so here I put it...

In the first (in the beginning) and in the last (at the end) and scattered through the anime if how Henrietta and some of the other cyborgs walk. This is also not limited to them either.

A normal person walks by placing foot at the heel, angle foot to the floor, pull body, angle foot up so that the heel rises and the toes stay on the floor. This is the Heel/Toe method that we plantigrades animals use (humans, monkeys, elephants, bears, and a few more animals walk this way)

In the Anime (fingering Henrietta since is so obvious in her!), she walks landing on her toes, then planting foot on ground, and finish the process normally. She also has a shorter gait when she walks, requiring twice as many more steps when walking.

Running seems normal.

Anyone else noticed this?

I never did, Elfen - I'm one for detail, but not to that extent.

Still, it is an intriguing bit of data you've put out here. My guess is that whatever oddities crop up with regards to our heroines' walking are side effects of their cybernetic remodification.

Play that first 3 minutes after the intro of the first episode, where Jose & Henrietta walk in, and Jose's explaining what a fratello is. Even Jose walks the same way as she does here.

Maybe he's been around her for too long.

They do walk very flat-footed. Big no-no in Kung-Fu. I blame it on the animators. They probably just didn't spend much time on the walking scenes. Easier to show a foot going straight down than the whole heel-toe motion.

At least you verified that I was not going crazy...

But its the same style as the Gs-Girls walk!

Awkward though this robot's walk may seem, it actually strikes me as being a very commendable engineering achievement.

She was built by the Robo Garage guys in Japan, and as awkard as it may seem; its designer consulted with Professional female models to get her movements just so... :roll:

Makes you wonder what they were smoking when they did it this way.

Which leads to the other question- since the girls have this robot's walk, is there a connection between the two?

To dig up an old discussion. I'm leaning towards what LoC said and chalk it up to lazy animators.

HOWEVER, to be sporting, and give a "setting-esque" answer I'll say that it's probably due to design. I mean, you'd think that people advanced enough to make cyborgs let alone cyborg assassins would want them to be as passable for human as possible, and thus walk right.

I dunno, maybe they don't put the heel down cause if they need to dodge/duck/dip/dive/and dodge (the 5 D's of Dodgeball - er assassination...) and that is all done from the ball and toes of your feet so they don't have to deal with this silly "rocking the foot forward" cause their feet are already past the heel first stage.

Of course that makes NO lick of sense. So...*shrugs*... Perhaps these cyborg designers are complete morons.

Or they been watching too many super models walking.
They tend to walk like that because they are in 8"+ heels all day, and once out of heels, walk funny.

In my opinion, women shouldn't strut unless they're in a beauty contest or on a fashion show catwalk. It attracts unwanted attention and lands them into trouble.

Too many ladies here in New York City (not the majority, but enough to notice that some do), do it and claim that they have to wear certain clothes and strut around for their ofice job. One even admitted to me that its a compettition of sorts to be the the offfice beauty queen.

As much as I may think it is true fromseeing it, it is also unneccessary.

Funny... many think my (recently discovered) daughter is a male and on the 2 forums we are on, many think she's my sock puppet. But the Admins back me up on this- different IP Numbers = different people! Her and I are too much alike :face:

Its a long sorrid story involving an Ex-From-Hell.
I did not know she existed until 19 years later. We (the daughter and I) havd been making up for lost time. She's now 23.

Amother of a friend of mine, who is a Nueroologist, stated that that kind of walk (landing on the toes and clomping on the heal like the cyborgs do in the anime) indicates a specific form of brain or spinal cord damage.

Interesting, that to think that the SWA/Section 2 doctors have everything else right but screw up on the wiring to the legs!

That would coincide with my assumption of the drug working to impaire certain brain function here.

I see you point, Boomer. But I cant help thinking that the doctors of the SWA designed Cadillacs cyborgs and ended up with Edsels...

Its like the NASA Scientists who built the Shuttles: 'They Designed a Cadillac, They Got A Chevy.'
Meanwhile in Soviet Russia, they built theirs better than the US Design, though by stealing the basic ideas, and then adding what they saw fit. Only through their own incompetence did they lost theirs through a stupid accident and are too ashamed to go back and get it!
