Boo-boos and Owies

All the threads in this sub-forum thus far have been of great magnitude, of events that change the lives of our peers, fellow fans, and, most of all, friends.

I'm hoping this will be like the What are You Happy About Right Now? thread, but in the opposite direction.

We all have little downers: failed tests, bad days at work, or other stuff that just dims our lives a small amount. For me, my boo-boos aren't worth their own thread because they're nowhere in the same galaxy as these other threads.

However, you are all my friends. Often, just seeing you on chat, just getting the notification that you posted something new, those small things brighten my day. In this harried pressure-cooker of a world, I treasure you.

I'm sure I'm not the only one. Here's a thread for us to just vent about our crummy bosses, our ungrateful students, our idiot coworkers, and our frail bodies. Please feel free to post your frustrations, your whinges, and your pains.

We're all friends here.

That interminable preface aside, I'm off work with a cold for yet another day. I had to leave home early on Tuesday because I was feeling crummy, took Wednesday off, dragged my sorry butt back to work yesterday, and woke up at 03:30 with aches, a mild fever and some other symptoms that are not shared in polite companies.

The good news: I'll be able to watch some more anime. I think I'll try to get another chunk out of Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

The bad news: I've tried writing when I've been sick in times past, and it doesn't work. My wife will interrupt me every 30 minutes to tell me to stop working (even if it's not job-work, she can tell when I'm concentrating), and my mind has already stopped working to some degree, so writing will be an exercise in frustration in this condition..

Well, the typical Chinese response to a cold is a nice, piping hot bowl of rice porridge, seasoned with just a hint of soy sauce and some finely chopped green onions. Feel better soon!

Now I've caught some kind of bug. Wasn't feeling great last night, as I said on chat, but woke up feeling worse and subsequently made two mad dashes for the bathroom to empty my stomach.

Ooohh.

The best part about vomiting is how there's no traditional cures for it that'll make you feel better. With normal colds and stuff, at least something like lemon tea will make you feel mildly less crummy. Good luck, man.

I ripped a fingernail chucking grenades today. I don't know how I kept injuring my middle finger on my left hand, but it's shredded, all up and down, to include the bleeding nail.

Anyway, got home from school. Its the first day after being sick and I have a mountain of make-ups and reading to do...

Which sucks.

And I think may have some kind of upper respiratory infection based on how I'm feeling, coughing and generally how that area feels. Nothing confirmed, but seems like a likely problem.

It's midnight; I'm on a conference call because something went bang in some data-center somewhere; we've been at this for 2+ hours and we still have no estimated time-to-restoration; and I have to run an 08:00 meeting tomorrow morning.

My grandmother had some blood tests done for a heart cath and they came back that her hemoglobin was very low so she was admitted to a hospital.

So a few nights ago, I had just finished seeing 'Frozen' and was waiting at the bus stop for my ride home. It was probably around 20ºF or less, so I definitely was toughing it out until the bus got to my stop. Problem was, when the bus finally came, it came charging towards my stop... and right past to the next stop, and the driver dropped someone off and then drove away even though I was screaming and yelling for him to wait quite audibly.

When I eventually did get home, my frustrations and 'Let It Go' being stuck in my head lead to this (contains some language):

Sorry for the double-tap, but wanted to share.

I just replaced a pretty kick-butt router with a crappy one. The reason is simple: this one is ACLed (Access Control List) to an amazing degree. Too bad the radio on it sucks, and it doesn't have a coax plug for an antenna.

it's a SkyDog router, and it allows me to create user profiles, assigned them to machines, and set limits based on bandwidth, sites, and hours. My kidlet has let her grades slip, and with the tuition costs at her college, we can't allow that.

So, it's a triple boo-boo:

1. She's almost going to get bounced from her program at college.

2. I have to put up with a crappy $150 router (and have to spend even more for a signal booster).

3. IT'S NOT OUR FREAKING JOB TO POLICE HER INTERNET USAGE AT HER AGE!

Try ice on a freeway going 60 in a Jeep Liberty. Fishtailing bad at that speed is not fun, but rain you get use to. Take it slow if you need to.

Well in the grace I surly do not posses I just screwed up my leg pretty bad. Can down off of a overhead slam and landed wrong, didn't even get the point...plus it was the first set... Embarassed

So we're letting her be...hopefully its just a really really bad sprain and not something worse.

sprained my left Knee, was put on light duties to rest it , was sent out to do a single bag of a delivery, got bitten on the back of my right knee, now both legs hurt !

in 18 years I have only been bitten 3 times, once on each buttock and the last one on my leg, hopefully that will be it for awhile
