I Got Your Forms Right 'Ere
Okay, first things first:
I'm proud to say I'm a kitty of strong convictions. (Most of them under appeal.)
===
How I Found This Place: I'm active on FictionPress.com, which is currently suffering from the 'red-headed stepchild' syndrome: it's not getting any loving from the FP/FF admin team, and is borked. Specifically, posting to forums is busted. FanFiction.net seems to get problems fixed relatively quickly, so I jumped there to see if it was working.
Hm... Need to find a forum to test in. Hey, what's this? A GsG forum? Cool. Oh, wait, it's dead. But look! A link to ... here.
Likes, Subgroup Anime/Manga: Nausicaa is probably my favourite, especially because of the backstory how it came about. I like many of the older Studio G works, though it's hit-or-miss after Porrco Rosso for me. (Yes, I am in awe of Grave of the Fireflies, and no, I refuse to watch it ever again.)
As you can see over to the left, I also like Zeta Gundam and Code:Gaess. (Oh, for those wondering, FFS isn't short for "for ----'s sake". It's Five Star Stories.) Don't go into TVTropes' Square/Cube Law with me - I like mecha, and nothing you say will change that. (Except 'Koyabashi Makoto'. *shudder*)
I've gone through a bunch of scanlations: GSC and Chobits come to mind, but I'm sure there are more. Now that I have a job, I'm actually trying to buy them - I have the dead-tree editions of all the English translations of Megatokyos and Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. Oddly enough, I don't have either scanlations or print GsG manga, though I plan to order them.
I've watched both 'seasons' of GsG on NetFlix. TBH, I'm not as big a fan as I expected. The first season was beautifully done, but lacked character development. Then again, it went into such loving detail that it took practically the whole season to introduce them. The second season's artwork was a letdown, though the longer-running plot arc was nice.
Likes, Subgroup eEntertainment: I am very easily addicted to pasttimes, so I avoid MMORPGs. I'm currentlyplaying addicted to Bloon's Tower Defence. (Did you know BTD5 is out?) Otherwise, I'm on internet forums - DisBoards, NerfHaven, FictionPress, and now, here. Yes, even sometimes from work, though I usually have Visual Studio or PowerGUI Editor on my desktop.
Oh, and I try to write original fiction, but the above seems to take precedence. I had a bad experience trying to write fanfic a long time ago when I didn't know the canon well enough some 'experts', so I've been avoiding writing it ever since.
Likes, Subgroup Music:
Likes, Subgroup Miscellaneous: Origami, Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files, Words by Post, and ... oh, look! Shiny!
Did I miss anything?
PS: I just realized, I didn't even get to test FF.net's forum post feature.
I already dumpster-dove for the ones Claes filled out and edited them with my relevant data. Oh, and you should invest in a shredder.Alfisti wrote:Now if you'll just fill these out *dumps large pile of forms on the counter* then sign here, here and.... yeah, right there...

Welcome to the nut house that is the GSG forum. I have to say its great to have another Giant Mecha fan. I,'m a fan of Code geass as well but i have yet to see Zeta gundam, but I have seen most of the others. While I own grave of the fireflies I have yet to watch it. Is it that good or that bad.

Grave of the fireflies is an emotionally powerful movie. It is wonderfully done, but it's hard to watch the second time because it is so grim.

It's a good one too, diamond cut, shreds an AmEx card in ten seconds flat... you have no idea how much trouble I had getting Ferro so sign the req.
Anyway, welcome.

In another thread, mushi4fr asked what I did with pen and paper. It seemed gauche to threadjack that thread to flog my own work, but I hope it's acceptable here. In addition to writing, I enjoy playing around with origami:

HOLY CRAP!!!
That's paper? You're lying!! No way!!
That's so freaking cool!
Oh, thanks for being clever and thoughtful enough to put that link here rather than threadjacking... I'm afraid I was not so courteous; I myself got a bit carried away.... My bad!
I especially liked the decaled x-wing! ~<3

Your origami is spectacular. Please do not hesitate to post more of your work whenever you feel like it. On this forum we tend to celebrate the artwork of others, and it does not necessarily have to be Gunslinger Girl related. The only thing we are intolerant of in excessive self-deprecation, although we do reserve the right to make fun of poor spelling.

Didn't know how much leeway I had with a 'hello world' thread, that's all. I'm not going to say my origami is "shucks, t'wasn't nuthin'" or any such. However, in any esoterica, 'good' is similar to a saying I've heard about chess (or perhaps it was 'go'): The only people who will say they're good at it are either gods or fools.
Well, here are some other works I realize I hadn't uploaded to DA:
A dragon from overhead
===
Same dragon model, profile.
===
A star I created for Christmas.
===
And a set of platonic solids, inscribed as dice. The D4 I've since redone so the numbers are at the points, not the bases.
===
All of the above are my own creation, with the exception of the Alien and the Jet Plane. (Unfortunately, that means I sometimes forget how to remake them.)

Much thanks. Some of those I make while standing in lines. My current story was inspired by a scene from Hanna while I was at Disneyland, where standing in line is a must. There, I gave away probably 50 X-wings, Imperial Star Destroyers, and Christmas stars.

Re: I Got Your Forms Right 'Ere
*sob* I used to do origami...and I was terrible at it!!
The best thing i ever did was a giraffe who's head kept falling off!
When I was in, like, the fifth grade, I used to have a crush on a babysitter who made me a lot of paper balloons, and we would write stories in them! It was so pretty! I've never seen anyone make something so intricate though....
I can't believe you can just whip those out in a line in Disneyland!
(By the way - I LOVED Hanna, if it's the movie you're referring to!)
Oh! One thing I am really good at are coffee filter roses!! No, they're not as lame or sloppy looking as they sound. It takes me like three hours to make just one though... But I swear, in the end, they look like real roses!!

If it's the same Hanna, it's another 'killer waif' concept film, much like GsG.
I'd love to see a coffee-filter rose sometime. Don't make one on-demand, but if you have a pic or sample already done, I'd love to see it! Or the next time you make it.

Re: I Got Your Forms Right 'Ere
Hi folks. I'm back for a bit. As you may have noticed, I'm a bit bipolar. Sometimes I sink into a funk and idle away hours on Flash games or Facebook. Other times, I get seized by a mania and dive full-on into one avocation or another. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Right now, writing is again on my mind, so I'll likely frequent this site, FictionPress and FanFiction for a spell.
Apologies for vanishing so abruptly, and thanks (and more apologies) to those kind souls who sent inquiries which I crassly ignored.

Hm. FB links to piccies go boom. Well, here's a start:
TARDIS. Appx 5.5 cm high, so the "Free for Use of Public" sign is nigh-on illegible, but it's fully rendered. So is the "St. John's Ambulance" seal.
Here's some commercially-available wares with the same signage:
Cuz that's how I roll.

Here's a pretty familiar shape:
===
===
Here's a top-view comparison:
- The vertical stabilizers need to (somehow) start toward the back of the engine.
- The engine should not disturbe the leading edge of the wing.
- The tail should taper independently of the wing.
- The rear of the wings should angle forward independently of the engines.
Still, it's close enough to get the idea across, no?
