I've ment to watch Elfen Lied at some point, but didn't get around to it. Fullmetal Alchemist I've watched on and off, mostly because it's on TV. I have somewhat strage and varied taste in anime, or at least that's what I've been told.

Elfen Lied is amazing you should watch it!! ^_^

I have the Hyper Police manga and I really want the anime. Is it really good? You should watch all of FMA. It's sooo aweosme!!

I liked it a lot, but from what I can tell the manga is better.(Mostly because it gets more into the characters.), but I'm sure it will be fun to see it in animated form.

The manga is really good! I didn't get to finish it yet though I only have up to volume 6. Maybe I can fine a few epidoes on youtube! ^_^ From what I've sen and heard the manga is waaaay more perverted though.

not sure if it counts as a favorite, much less anime... but... I found Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children quite entertaining, at least for humor and blindingly fast action sequences.

I was thinking about listing anime I've watched and enjoyed, but don't count among my favorites... but the list is rather dauntingly LONG.

I've seen several of you list Planetes as one of your favorite animes, what is it like because I have been considering adding it to my collection

Gunslinger Girl (obviously). Vandread (everyone compares me to Barnette Orangello). Lost Universe (love them Lost Ships). Saber Marionette (one of the few anime series to actually touch my jaded old heart). The Slayers (the ultimate mix of show-stopping magic and zany humor). And last but not least, the magnificent El-Hazard. I've got a lengthy El-Hazard chronicle going, which has so much damn detail worked into it that I don't expect to complete the story 'til I hit middle age.

For 2/3 of the movie is comedy 1/3 of it is drama,I think both were done well,the sci fi aspects (=time traveleling) aren't the main focus of the story it's really just used as a tool for character developement and comic effect,but is never explained,there might be some plot holes concerning how time travel works but it doesn't matter since the movie isn't about that.
The backround art is beautiful by the way,reason why i want to see grave of the fireflies and princess mononoke is because the art director is the same one as the girl who leapt through time.

love the voice actress for the main character,they took a real teen.

shoulda addressed this before... sorry bout that.
Planetes is a fairly realistic, near future sci-fi about people who haul in space debris in Earth's orbit. There's a ton of comedy and drama to it (and a little romance)... most of the danger the characters find themselves in is from the space debris and the very real dangers of being in space... though later on the series addresses terrorism and its possible causes.

Oh man I've seen so much anime that I enjoyed. Let me think about this for a moment.

Well lets start at the beginning.

I first recall anime when I saw Armitage the Third: Polymatrix on the Scifi channel when it was still Japan-imation, and I wasn't even a teenager. I later saw Dual matrix. Not the best anime, but a good one. Has a special place since it was my first.

Neon Genesis: Evangelion was another real marker in my life. Eva really was the beginning of my interest in anime. Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Princes Mononoke,and Akira quickly followed.

Other good animes that followed: Gunslinger Girls, Nadesico, Samurai Champloo, Excel Saga, Spirited Away, Raphexon, Gunsmith Cats, Macross Zero, Hanibe Renmi [sp?], Azumanga Diaho, Wings of Honneamise, Ghost in the Shell [everything save 2], and probably more that just wont come to mind.

I've seen some Inuyasha, and Ranma 1/2. They're both good animes with one great draw back, they both drag on. The first volume of each was great, but it soon became stagnate. It was the same scenarios play out, the creator just dragged both of her creates out to make more money. Tragic really.

Some of the older animes have this wow, that's cheesy, but awesome angle. Robotech, Lupin the Third, and others like that. Oh man by modern standards it's awful. But it's got an awesome angle on it, that just can't be ignored.

I've heard of Planetes, and in fact have the first volume of the manga by my feet. It's going on netflix now.

Ah that anime, I like to call it Best Cell Phone Service EVER. I suppose it's a bit much to poke an genre for cell phone messages when you have giant robots, and FTL drives. Still it makes me laugh. A good anime though.

Oh yeah Jin-ro brigade that was a good. Patlabor is pretty sweet to. Though Elfen Leid didn't really do it for me. I got into the second disco before I handed it back to my piss mate in forming him I wanted to break them in to so I wouldn't be sad anymore. I never saw the character development, maybe I was to focused on the blood and tits. Maybe it wasn't there, I don't know I just know I didn't want to watch anymore of it.

I'm not into the Gunslinger Girl Anime--too slow. THe manga though, that's a kick (though I've been missing it)

And, I believe the original title was Yamato, but wayyy back when there was an americanised and much edited variation called Star Blazers - this was back when I lived in maryland, and the only channel that carried it was an obscure pennsylvania channel, which resulted in little me climbing onto the roof and building this horror of a rube goldberg antenna array just to pull in enough of that channel to see it at all, even if it was full of static and fading in and out, it was a pretty cool show, especially back then.

One of the intro episodes had the initial launch involving a gravity slingshot maneuver around the sun followed by a headlong charge through the gammalon fleet that to this day just makes me shiver.

Never got to see Captain Harlock? though, but I wanted to.. came reccommended by SB fans.

For the ones confused at the Saint Seiya position, i am a huge greek
mithology geek and so it was only natural to me, it´s also pretty
awesome for a shounen and with the last movie starting the last oficial
arc i almost shot my pants with it. You just don´t fuck with Seiya
anymore. Also manly tears.

Honorable Mentions

Ranma 1/2 - This one started
me in the whole manga crap and while my fanboy kinda died when i saw
other better mangas later on, still it´s a long 38 volumes good laugh
with nice action when Rumiko really tries, Inu Yasha is fucking trash
though.

Crhno Crusade - Imagine a shounen Hellsing with a female
lead and more character development, also it has a great ending IMO,
happy yet tragic. Aion is one of the greatest antagonists i´ve seen in
a manga unlike the shit stained anime version.

Evangelion - Pretty much the anime, only with more character development and a slighty modified story ( for the better IMO).

Basilisk - Japanese feudal Rome and juliet, the fights are awesome.

Full Metal Alchemist - Alchemy is cool. Good art and a surprisingly good story which breaks a lot of shounen stereotypes.

Bleach/Naruto/666satan
- Bleach for the constant huge amounts of bad ass, Naruto for the story
(believe it or not, this is not taken due credit because of the retarded fanbase), 666satan....just gets to me for some reason, i
only checked it because some guy once said the Demons/angels designs were
awesome and they are. They really, really are.

Top 3

1. Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien - The best anime ever, because it makes even big men cry. It has a very interesting and deep plot and great animation. Also I love the way the characters are adult and also I like the way KGNE takes sex and sexuality seriously and naturally.

2. Hajime No Ippo - The best moodraiser there is. It always is great to see Ippo fight in those matches and the characters arent too serious, yet they are human.

3. Gunslinger Girl - Enough said...

Thanks for giving me the suggestion of Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, Tony. The art threw me off at first (it's a pretty generic anime style with very strong/clear color), but I definitely misgudged it.

Any serious player of the Pokemon Game Boy games hates the anime's guts. It presents a travesty of the game that we labor so carefully and painstakingly on.

ASH IS A BITCH. All completely not evolving to Raichu even LONG after Pikachu's learned his moveset. All completely neglecting the THREE Starters he gets for FREE and for some reason forgetting to wear the control badges. All not even owning a single Psychic-type cause fighting Sabrina was traumatizing or something. FUCK that guy. >:O

Don't worry Alpha, I'm a fellow Digimon fan. Tamers happens to be my favorite.

I actually managed to get all 150 pokemon in Red once. I can't remember if I cheated or not though. Gold/Silver is the best though. And yeah, Ash is a bitch. I mean, what the hell, he always got rid of his best pokemon. Right when his Pigeotto finally evolves into a Pigeot, he releases it. He cancelled the evolution on his Bulbasaur.

...Why do I still remember all of that? In fact, why do I know that in the first place? Curse my lame childhood and ability to remember useless information.

Gottem all for Yellow. I had the advantage of having two Game Boys and all three initial versions.

Yup, same here. But I think I used the Cinnibar Island trick to get Tauros and maybe Chansey too.

The Cinnabar Island trick is a staple where it comes to the initial three versions. Anyone who claims they didn't resort to it at least once is a liar.

And the infinate Rare Candies trick is a staple too. Almost as much as the pokemon cloning trick.

Why the small text for Digimon and Ranma? I don't think there is anything wrong with watching those...even Pokemon. I admit I once knew the Poke Rap. Gawd the useless knowledge I once had...

Ranma 1/2 was the first anime that got me into anime over a decade ago. I remember going with my siblings one summer to every blockbuster/hollywood video within a 30 mile radius to rent any Ranma 1/2 videos we could find. Only watched the first few series since afterwards it got a bit boring and found better things to watch.

As for Digimon...


Back in the days when I had to brown paper cover my textbooks (as in HS), I was a Digimon Adventure fan and drew a Gomamon on my Chemistry cover. I thought it was cool, though I bet my classmates were weirded out.

Heyyy I still LOVE Digimon!!! I want the first season boxed set like you wouldn't believe!! ;_;

My obession for digimon died out when i saw season 4. the thing just sucked like hell. People turning to digimon? WTF!!

I threw my emerald version away after it corrupted after i finished the elite 4
