Yet another live-action anime adaptation
http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/12/17/keanu-reeves-confirms-live-action-cowboy-bebop-involvement/
All I gotta say is: Fox better dig up some decent writers, and ol' Neo better brush up on his Jeet Kune Do.
...then again, there's a good chance this one will end up as a stillbirth.

Re: Yet another live-action anime adaptation
I don't know, Keanu might just be able to pull it off.
In fact if you recall the fight scene between Neo and Morpheus in The Matrix; I sensed a bit of Spike when Keanu did a bit of a shuffle before thumbing his nose. That is so a Spike move.

Re: Yet another live-action anime adaptation
Well, if there's one guy who can pull off a good Spike, It's Keanu. He did the whole, 'right through the front door, guns blazing' thing. They don't pull too much dump anime stuff and they might be able to pull it off.
But if they FSUK this up... There gonna be a Re-enactent of 'The Real Folk Blues, Part 2' on the studio office. Enraged Cowboy Bebop fan blows up movie studio building after engaging in massive gun battle while hacker buddies played 'See You Space Cowboy' shough the PA system.
Won't be me though, I can't shoot for shit.

Hmm... I'm dubious to be honest.
That said I'm always a bit dubious whenever Hollywood/US tv/whatever (someone trying to re-make something they didn't start) try to "adapt" a show or movie that was great on its own.

This ain't about Bebop, but I recently found out there's going to be a KOF movie. I'm really excited for that.
Oh yeah, can't forget about Monster.

Re: Yet another live-action anime adaptation
Meh, I don't even hold expectations anymore of any Hollywood adaption of anything I like.
Resident Evil movies...meh
Mad Payne...meh
Hitman...meh
Street Fighter...etc. The list goes on.
I'll gladly watch if it is good. If it's bad, well that's just par for the course.

I liked the first Resident Evil movie, but then I've never played the games. I agree the second was lamer and the 3rd was so bad I bailed 30 minutes in.

Re: Yet another live-action anime adaptation
The first was the most competent, atmosphere and script wise. The movies to me didn't have to follow the game plot, but it SHOULD at least be an enjoyable movie. The only reason I sat through the second was for Sienna Guillory, doing a multi-million dollar "cosplay."Kiskaloo wrote:I liked the first Resident Evil movie, but then I've never played the games. The first 20 minutes of Resident Evil Apocalypse = Great. The rest = trash.

Re: Yet another live-action anime adaptation
Well, I've never been much of a Reeves fan, but his enthusiasm is encouraging. That and the fact that Sunrise will be carefully watching over them means they might actually make a good movie. But why not make it a TV series? I fear that condensing 13 hours of material down into 2 will make it feel too rushed.

Re: Yet another live-action anime adaptation
They probably won't retell the story so much as make another movie along the lines of 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door'
...y'know, like a really long version of one of the 'two-episode arcs' from the series.

I'd like to see the episode where the killer mold takes over the ship.

Same. I was actually pretty excited to hear Keanu was going to be Spike. Of course, it'll depend on how the movie plays out. For now I have high hopes for it.boomer_gonz wrote:I don't know, Keanu might just be able to pull it off.
In fact if you recall the fight scene between Neo and Morpheus in The Matrix; I sensed a bit of Spike when Keanu did a bit of a shuffle before thumbing his nose. That is so a Spike move.

Re: Yet another live-action anime adaptation
I recall a few years back there was some lengthy discussion somewhere about who would be the ideal cast for a live action Cowboy Bebop. Keanu was top of the list for spike.Sakura wrote:Same.boomer_gonz wrote:I don't know, Keanu might just be able to pull it off. Where on earth did this come from? I know Jeremy has wicked hair, but...Volcrim wrote:May as Jet, Hammond as Ed, Stig as Ein.
I'd recommend saving the Top Gear crew for the (hopefully will never exist) Hollywood version of 'Initial D-something-or-other'. They're probably the only ones who could make such a thing work.
Perhaps call it 'Stig-The Origin'. Make it ten times more over the top than Speed Racer (...that'll be a challenge considering how over the top Speed Racer was) and we'd have a smash hit blockbuster. Stig in a something ridiculous (lika a taxi) versus Jeremy in a Veyron, on that sweet sweet downhill Stelvio Pass...
Stig would still win tho'.
That wound probably be ideal. Perhaps they could play it as an origin story about Spike meeting Jet, and have that lead into the anime itself?LoC978 wrote:They probably won't retell the story so much as make
