Alfisti's Sketchings
UPDATED 20091023 - MOST RECENT AT BOTTOM
Lesse if I can get this image insert thingy to work first time 'round... reckon there's probs about a 30% chance it will (me+new interfaces... not a good combo).
I've only got GSG sketches so far (almost exclusively of Triela)... one of these days I'll get around to CG-ing, scanning the rest of the drawings in my sketchbook etc... it's all pretty average at best though.
First one: was mega bored at uni today... third day back and we had 4 hours of presentations to slog through whilst the class brought the new tutors coming in up to speed on where we were at after last semester project wise. 4 hours is far too much time to think up weird cross-overs. But hey: Italy's got no Doctor, no Torchwood not even any MIB and U.N.I.T's spread thin... someone needs to take the fight to the Daleks. Quick sketch, was half paying attention to this, half to what people were saying... but mostly to how badly I wanted feeding
Second's from awhile back now... the only problem with working in ink and marker is that when you make a mistake you're kinda stuck with it... stupid arm.
UPDATE 20090724
So, since this is turning out to be pretty obviously just not my night decided to give in on uni work and scan the rest of the GSG related stuff from my sketch book.
First are pages from a recent road-trip to Gladstone to visit a mate. Thing about Gladstone is that there's not a helluva lot to do... so we capitalised on that and did as little as physically possible. Did a lot of reading, did a fair bit of sketching, ate a lot of good food, drank a lot of good wine and listened to a lot of Air, Jazz Australis, St Germain, Empire of the Sun, Skipping Girl Vinegar, Jezabels etc.
Also evidenced is my ARIA fanboy-ism, as well as a whole lot of books I should read and haven't (seriously, NOTHING to do). It's a long one so I'll shove it in one of these spoiler things...
The second is just from killing time between uni and work. Liked the concept, failed pretty solid in the execution though. Mercs were never my favorite cars so I never really learnt how to draw them... plus Triela's way to skinny.
UPDATE 20090808
Finally coloured something
UPDATE 20090826
Triela... testing a Nerd Handbook theory out on Hillshire...
...lets face it, Hillshire does have some nerd character traits.
UPDATE 20090831 (new sketch, spoilered some older stuff)
It seems Triela and Monty made it into my uni-presentation... ah well, it wouldn't seem right if there wasn't a few pop-culture references in there. Last semester it was Deadpool, semester before that it was ARIA...
Hero/context-ish/interaction-ish shot for initial concept presentations, recropped to make the girls the focus rather than the furniture system. Perspective's a bit dodge since this is actually made up of three sketches out of my concept book, stitched together and rendered.
Higher Res here
Now go listen to some Atomic Rooster, Tame Impala or even some Chris Joss
UPDATE20091023 - Random sketchings...
It's amazing what seems funny after a string of all-nighters...

... I'd say so. I think the theory was: large mass, low velocity. If she's good (and lucky, we know she's good) she might be able to damage the eye-stalk then high-tail it out of there =P
@Sakura - One of these days I'll get around to scanning some of the other stuff out of it. I chew through a sketchbook in about 1-2 months (faster during semester), so maybe then. If you're interested the rest of my gallery is here but these are the only two GSG related pieces so far ^^;
@emperor - Haha, sure man, if anyone's interested I'd be willing to give it a shot Just don't expect anything in a hurry till at least end of semester =P

Re: Alfisti's Sketchings
Oh wow, a Doctor Who/GSG crossover. That's an amazing idea.
To all who note that Daleks would be impervious to shotguns - what if Triela isn't wielding a normal shotgun? What if it's a souped up weapon, one of many given to the Agency kids by the Doctor, who has teamed up with them against the alien invaders?
Someone write a fic, stat. Or better yet, a script that Al can turn into a comic.

@Triela - I'd love to put some colour on one of these, sadly time's the big issue here. I only ever get to neaten up and colour a tiny percentage of what gets sketched, so things get selected on a "what I feel like at the time" basis when I finish the pic before ^^; So it may happen... depends on how I feel at the time =P
@Sakura - Cheers mate, and no worries. I would be lying though if I said there wasn't a certain amount of enlightened self interest in doing so though ^^; =P

Re: Alfisti's Sketchings
Got told in class today that we'd be using A2 for our concept books this semester (first time since first year)... not happy, A2's a pain in the butt to transport and no-one feels like lugging a folio that size through peak hour public transport.
Annoyance was voiced, loudly (our cohort's somewhat... vocal) to which one of the tutors responded: you're designers, find a solution. ie. "harden the fuck up". So this was drawn in response to that suggestion...
...personally I reckon Triela's shotgun case would make a sweet document tube
Unfortunately I couldn't find anything similar on eBay.... so a post-roll it shall be (hey, still beats the flat-pack folio case). At least there'll be the chance to use those sweet stickers they were giving out last Design Fight Night.

I always figured Triela used a map/rolled document case to haul her shotgun around in public without raising attention.

Meh, straight lines are over-rated, curvy and messy all the way ;P
@Triela - but I've also had 5 extra years of practice/getting it wrong and starting over again. Trust me, my drawings were nowhere near as good as your art is now when I was your age.

Well, to be honest I really couldn't tell you how I got started drawing However, I guess copying other people's work and "how to draw" books are probs a good starting point. I'm not a proponent of either once you're out of the intial stages, but for getting the basics down (structure, working out how things go together etc) it does seem to help. But don't just copy, take notice of what you're doing and why... don't just blindly follow what's in front of you. Then you can apply that elsewhere.

Haha, awesome! Good luck with it and enjoy your time there. Uni/college life rocks.
No, I don't go to art school. I'm currently doing Industrial Design at uni, which is however fairly drawing intensive. That said we only got one unit of drawing in first semester, first year which just touched on the basics: single point perspective, basic lighting, markers, gauche and a bit of canson and pastel work (pastels, oh how I loathe pastels... so messy) but after that we're pretty much expected to work it all out for ourselves. Since I'd been drawing for fun before hand I'm effectively self taught

...well, it's a university classroom (and on top of that an ID studio session), so to be perfectly honest all she'd have to do is amble in, sit down the back and bust out a laptop: no-one would even batt and eyelid. One of my mates used to wander in during the last half hour of our studio sessions so we could go for coffee afterward. He did it all semester without anyone saying anything about it. ;P
@ Twisted - Cheers mate. Sketching straight with pen is a good way to quickly get used to different shading techniques. Of course, 60% of the time it just goes wrong too; and because you can't erase you just wind up compounding the problem by trying to fix it

Finally got around to colouring some GSG fanart
...because every child should be taught to clean up after themselves =P
Very much inspired by watching too many things like Snatch, Boondock Saints, Lucky Number Slevin, Life on Mars (the BBC version) etc. Also available, in probs a larger format, here

Yeah, it was supposed to be a body bag. Unfortunately a large roll of black plastic is suprisingly difficult to portray with any resonable level of clarity.
It was meant to look like she was midway through unfurling it as part of the "cleanup"... I mean hey: Hilshire drives an E-class estate, you could fit a dead body or two in the back of that thing no worries, wouldn't even need to fold the seats down or remove the load cover
