5 minutes into The Boondock Saints and Norman Reedus is TOO ADORABLE! X3

Edit: Just finished it. It was pretty good, I loved the action. It wasn't the best movie in terms of plot... but the eye candy was top notch. :3

I just finished watching the documentary The Rape of Europa. Sidestepping its rather melodramatic title this chronicle of the effect of World War Two on the art of Europe is one of the best things I've seen in ages.

Anyone with the slightest interest in European art will find this heart-wrenching, inspirational & fascinating all the way through. My only complaint was that it was only 2 hours long. But wait, what's this? There's an 8.5 hour extended version? Ordered. If anyone needs me I'll be waiting next to my post office box.

Ah, Dead Snow... How oddly wonderful that movie was.

I just watched The Messengers 2 starring Norman Reedus. It was alright, better than I thought. Maybe it was because I'm blinded by my Reedus love... :3

Cars 2: Utterly brilliant, but then it's PIXAR so one expects nothing less.

Hanna: Another standard "Hollywood CIA" film, however this one does have a Gunslinger Girl (even if she's not a cyborg).

Saoirse Ronan has been in a couple things lately that have gotten my attention. She was great in Atonement and held up very well amongst heavy hitters such as Ed Harris and Colin Farrell in The Way Back.

She was also a bright spot in the otherwise banal The Lovely Bones, and that seems to have gotten her foot in the door with Peter Jackson...she's rumoured to be lined up for an elf role in Jackson's upcoming The Hobbit film.

I watched Wayne's World for the first time today and it was indeed excellent! I was expecting the film to be self-consciously zany and so I was surprised when it turned out to be relatively subdued and 'realistic', but I have to agree with Roger Ebert in his reviews when he says tha Wayne and Garth just radiate beguiling easy-going good-natured goodwill, spiced a little with a pinch of playful mischief. Even though you'd expect a film like this to date quickly as pop culture moves on, it still felt fresh and vivid; I just had a huge warm smile on my face throughout.

And yes, Tia Carrere was schwingingly babe-dacious.

Mike Myers and Dana Carvey originated the Wayne & Garth characters on Saturday Night Live, a 90 minute sketch comedy show that has been broadcasting from New York for 36 years now (If you already know this ignore me, but I don't remember ever seeing it outside the US). As the name implies it does go out live and really is a crucible for young comics; fans placing a great deal of cultural significance on whether the constantly evolving cast is any good or not.

The show has spawned numerous movies based on its sketches and characters, the best of which was probably The Blues Brothers. Many others have been awful...failing to translate from a 7-minute sketch to a 90-minute feature, but Wayne's World was certainly one of the better ones.

Of this I wholeheartedly agree. The "Rapunzel done lost her damn mind" aesthetic is as hilarious as it is refreshing and unique. If this really is Disney's last foray into the faerie tale realm; I'm glad it went out like this.

I dunno... there's a couple others that Disney could do... it would be a shame for them to stop just as it seems that they're regaining their mojo (The Princess and the Frog, Tangled etc). Whoever they've gotten on board appears to have the touch.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

I loved Curse of the Black Pearl, but thought the next two films sucked. Fortunately, for the fourth film they went with a story by a different writer and also went back to their roots, resulting in a film that, not as brilliant as the original, was still a mighty entertaining yarn.

Just finished watching "Tomorrow When the War Began". On the okay side of average, but nothing spectacular... however a nice nostalgia trip for those of use who grew up reading the Tomorrow series. I don't know how popular they were overseas, but through late primary school and early highschool pretty much everyone, and I do mean everyone my age was reading them.

Essentially they chronicled the story of a group of friends who are out camping when Australia is invaded as so arrive home to find their town has been turned into a beach head. If you were around the same age it was easy to drop yourself into their shoes, hence the popularity.

I just wish the trailer wasn't so cheesy...

Lesse here...

A Clockwork orange, Memento, The Prestige, and Four Brothers were really good movies!

I also really enjoyed the new "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo".

Sat through Blade II just for Norman Reedus. Norman was, as always brilliant. The rest of the movie was terri-bad. His character, Josh, or Scud as he preferred to be called was totally awesome... till the end when he betrays them and then he explodes. ;____; D:

Hard to beat the original Blade, but I liked the whole lot.

Already booked your tickets for The Phantom Menace in 3D, Tri? Wink

Blergh. I loathe the prequels. It's not just Jar-Jar, either. The crux of the prequels is Anakin effectively saying, "I've just betrayed all I hold dear, just so I can ... force-Choke you!"

I most definitely won't be seeing it or any other of the prequel films, in 2-D or 3-D.

I'm starting to love this place (I've long since passed the "like" threshold.) Let's see:

"There can be only ONE!" - They only made one Highlander movie, and no TV show, right?

Also, they only made two Alien/Aliens films in my alternate timeline, correct? (Though 'Prometheus' looks promising.) And 'Gertrude', the working name for the xenomorph, never met the Predator. This one is going to be tough.

Lastly, Richard Pryor never set foot on a Superman movie, no? This last one probably shows how old I am...

Do you like the prequels only because Darth Maul was present, or do you like them on overall merit? Smile

I like Attack of the Clones, but that's about it. I find the confident, cocky Anakin an entertaining character and it is one of the reasons I really enjoy the Star Wars: The Clone Wars CG television series.

Seeing that you're a fan of double-bladed lightsabres, I'm not surprised you are anticipating the first film.

I like Darth Maul as well. In fact, I have a vinyl-cast figure of him on my bookcase at work. If anything, that's one more strike against TPM - they wasted him. Not just literally, but he was the best part of the show, and they removed him from the timeline (as well as the breathing). What a waste of a great character.

See? We're not all that different, Miss Cyborg-With-A-Short-Sword-For-A-Bayonet. Now, could you please put down that Trench Gun?
