A few days ago, I came across some raws. as it says in the tin, its black lagoon, Volume 08!

I can see why no one has scanlated this, because it wasn't all that easy to find for me either.

I cant believe it myself, but its just Ritalin. Can you imagine that? its just some fucking 20 Miligram Ritalin, the same shit I have been on most of my life. OK, mine was a 18Miligram dosage, but still.


101 for those who dont know (keeping it short.)

What we normal people call Ritalin, the damn whitecoats call 'Methylphenidate' is a prescription stimulant commonly used to treat Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or "ADHD" for short.

Known Side affects: psychosis (abnormal thinking or hallucinations), difficulty sleeping, mood swings, mood changes, nervousness, stomach aches, diarrhea, headaches, decreased sex drive, lack of hunger (leading to weight loss) and dry mouth.

Also note, that even though people call 'Methylphenidate' Ritalin. Ritalin is the type of Pill its shipped onto a subject.

'Ritalin SR' and 'Concerta' for example are one and the same, only the latter two are controled release pills. each housing their own amount of dosage of Methylphenidate.


Also take note(and this comes from first hand experiance) That when you Overdose, Like Roberta clearly did. (OMG, I dont envy her, after she gulped down like 10 in a row.) the side affects will become more potent. and sometimes, the side affects can work backwards.

'decreased sex drive' becomes 'increased sex drive' to the point where you just grab somebody at random for sex.

However, in Roberta's case, I'd suspect that she isn't a regular user of Ritalin, because it was never depicted that she had been using it before. So with that, another application that isn't so well known either comes to mind.

Concentration. Methylphenidate is know to enhance once level of concentration. which is part of the reason why I suffer from difficulty sleeping, as Ritalin can keep me awake way better then a cup of coffee can. so that seems more reasonable for Roberta. because a break in concentration could mean life or death, also the ability to stay awake with this drug is best for not getting caught in bed with your pants down.

EDIT: My bad, only contains up to chapter 64. Though I know 65 is out there somewhere...Methinks I wish I bookmarked that link.

recently acqured v8 raws from another source. I must say using a an antimaterial rifle at cgc ranges [ with what appears to be an underbarrel mounted grenade laucher] is some serious overkill.

yes that too. and one of the characters is using twin Mauser C-96's. Wowsers! Haven't seen one of those since Chrono Crusade. Oops alm,os forgot one o' thebad guys in Hellsing had one with a really extended artillarymans version.

True, I miss Chrono Crusade. That ending made me tear up so hard.
