Buon giorno from the Hive!
So...hello, everybody! I'm Xenomorph Alpha, and I found this place first whilst looking for scans of the manga, then again from FF.Net. XD Fantastic, I know. Lurked for a while, downloaded a few things, then figured "well hey why not."
I just recently found Gunslinger Girl on iTunes...and after much wondering about whether or not it was worth it, I decided to go find ze subbed versions of the first episodes, check them out. ...I spent the entirety of that day watching the whole first season and everything I could find of Il Teatrino. No lie.
After that, of course, I had to have the manga. And you all were tremendously helpful in that regard. Now I can watch the raw versions of IT and still know what's going on! Ha HA.
Uhmm...other vaguely related things. I am a writer, generally not of fanfiction, but Gunslinger Girl became an exception to the rule after rewatching several episodes and drinking a lot of Dr. Pepper. I think rum was also involved.
Other shows I watch religiously include Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and Battlestar Galactica. ...can you see a trend, here?
Speaking of which, favorite Gunslinger? Triela. No contest. Initially I thought she'd be annoying and faux-spunky and take up Henrietta's screen time. ...Then, watching episode 4, I loved her utterly, and realized that she reminded me of a smaller, younger Starbuck, sans cigars/liquor/other assorted bad habits. Also with an M1897.
The FN P90 remains on my Favorite Gun List, however, along with the AK-47 and the Barrett M107.

Re: Buon giorno from the Hive!
If Gunslinger Girl had a universal rule, it would be 'everybody loves Triela'. Welcome to the club, my friend.

Okay, for the manga try here.
Triela as Starbuck. Don't see it, except the crazy skill. Starbuck is more self destructive go off do crazy things. Triela doesn't strike me as that kind of crazy maverick.
Anyway welcome.

Thankee! I am quite proud to be a member of said club. Even if its members are legion. *pins shiny badge to chest*
And...well not generally as self-destructive as our dear Kara Thrace, no, but lately she's been on something of that sort of streak. Which is sad. Oh well, at least she hasn't married some sports-playing boy who is secretly a cyborg. And gotten matching tattoos with him. D:
...Though I would pay very good money to see Hillshire's reaction to Triela with ink.

Unfortunately, the fandom has already seen something like that happening.

I haven't had the sci-fi channel in almost a month. I'm reduced to watching the DVDs. So thanks. Thanks a lot for letting me know he was a fracking Cylon. I wonder if I get drunk enough, if I'll be able to forget this... I hate you with a passion that knows no bounds.
Anyway Triela just doesn't have enough of a maverick attitude. She isn't the type to just sucker punch some XO cause he's a dick. You see what I'm saying?

I dunno, Wil. Goodness knows what would have happened if Triela got paired up with Lauro.

Picture Lauro in the Agency hospital with a broken jaw - sustained after being bitch-slapped by a furious Triela - and requesting via pen and paper that his resignation be tendered. Goodness knows he deserves it.

:O OH SHI-- I'm sorry! Honest! Uhm...damn it, where'd I put that cake...
And true, true. But give her a couple more years, no conditioning, and put her in a high-stakes poker game with Jean...who's drunk...no, you're right, doesn't really work. XD

...That is a wonderful image. I am accompanying it with the image of all the cyborgs lining up to shake Triela's hand. And Jean going "hmm, maybe I've figured out a way to get rid of Alessandro entirely."

It’s true, one author has a gunslinger girl/boy raping and impregnating Triela. Seriously messed up.Nachtsider wrote:Unfortunately, the fandom has already seen something like that happening.
By the way, this is my personal opinion, not Nacht’s or anyone else’s.

Anyway welcome,oh and how are you dealing with "il teatrino"?
Oddly, I actually enjoy Il Teatrino on many levels, and wait eagerly for its next installments... Ah, but before you cry 'heretic'!, I will note that I'm severely disappointed in Artland and this...direction they've been taking with regards to the art.
-Shaking a camera does not a riot make. IT JUST DOESN'T.
-Why does it seem like the girls never change outfits?
-Plz work on animating the action scenes. I enjoy them, yes, but...but quality.
-WHYFOR RICO'S EYES ARE THE SIZE OF TEA SAUCERS (Seriously, does she need a gun anymore? She can just open her eyes all the way and terrify a Padanian to death.)
But the voice work and the incorporation of the manga storyline are quite fantastic, and while Tatta Hitotsu no Oi is not Light Before We Land, I am finding the music of this season grows on me. Especially how they worked in Scarborough Fair last time.
There was also that lovely Hillshire x Triela moment in Episode 7-- er, I mean...look! Over there! Padanians!

... ...this obviously calls for an armed response. By Rico. With an M107 shot to the kidney.
