More Yu Aida interview material
Warning: Spoils the manga.
Anyone remember the interview Reid posted in 2009? I was curious so I did some digging about our favorite person. Yu Aida's pretty qualified, he's referred to as "Dr." in some of these translations. There's one art exhibit a company sponsored and archived on the internet which includes bits and pieces of official commentary. I've linked them below through Bing's translator.
Also, his full name seems to be "Yutaka Aida" as some people have suggested. This name is credited for "music department" in a few animated works. I wonder if it's the same person.
Sorry about the links, I'm not allowed to hyperlink yet. Just replace every [dot] with an actual dot in your favorite text editor. I also put some of the links through the Wayback machine for preservation in case they die off.

Note that "Versace Underthrow" is a mistranslation referring to his latest slice of life "1518!" which nobody's scanlated much of. Kind of unfortunate, I would love to read his latest work.
His blog is here. He mentioned being lonely from living alone. Maybe that's why he started working on slice of life? His blog also mentions him being interviewed in the magazine "Da Vinci" if anyone can help find it.

There's also an article where two mangaka talk about some themes in Gunslinger Girl.

Re: More Yu Aida interview material
Versus Underhanded Pitch was the name of the doujin he created that was eventually serialized as 1518.
