Cover Art and Logos
As with many things, I blame Emmie. This time for inspiring me to even consider sharing this.
It all started with me posting about Creating Covers for FanFiction.Net. Then, to thank TSM for beta-reading, I made him a cover for his Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles fic, Effective:
(I also made it into an ePub for e-readers.)
===
Then a second one, this time for his GsG fic, Porcupine Love:
This second one actually has some original artwork in it. Triela's thighs weren't on the source artwork. It too is available in ePub format.
===
Anyhow, after this, Emmie asked for a log for one of her Eternal Solace groups, Project Skyline:
===
And I made her one for another group, NIGHTMARE:
===
And I was somehow compelled to make this for John_234's Rehabilitation Branch:
===
I've collected the OpenOffice Draw source file for these in a DA gallery along with my own covers.
And what of those covers? They're actually not a good as these, so I'll be remaking them if ever I get the chance.
However, I'm willing to try creating logos and adding banners and logs onto existing artwork as covers for your fics.

Re: Cover Art and Logos
I'll join in the fun...
Most have probably already seen these as they are right through my fiction thread, but each chapter of And the Adventure Continues has of course had its own little header image:
Around Chapter 03, after some discussion with 47ness I went to a lighter typeface (Century Gothic) for the lower block of text, which neatened up the layout somewhat. Up until then, as with the comic, it had been Pilsen Plakat all the way through.
Chapter 10's header caused me some headaches as, up until this point I had been working in fairly warm, high contrast images and the style I was using had sort of been shaped by that. Suddenly I needed muted, dull tones...
And that's where the story is currently up to. Chapter 11's header also marks the first time there's no dark block for the "Jethro+Monty A Gunsliger Girl Fan Fiction by Alfisti" to sit over. Didn't look as much of a mess as I expected. Needless to say; if I go to shorter chapters, these header images will also disappear.

Re: Cover Art and Logos
And, just for a change of pace, and actual cover rather than chapter header:
This one's for Danilo & Raych's story "Meanwhile in Italy"... which ties in to an extent to "And the Adventure Continues". Either way: different dimensions, different typeface and treatment of how it's placed and different colour pallet with different post-production tweaks to help seperate the two stories.
I was at a bit of an impass as to how to approach this one. On one hand, this story was supposed to be a bit more "down to earth" than J+M's jetsetting adventures. On the other hand "down to earth" doesn't really describe the Olivetti fratello, Danilo in particular prefering technological solutions and having little interest in old things.
Obviously the end decision was to go with a more futuristic look.
For reasons unknown, this was running whilst drawing it, because it really does not suit the characters or story:

Made a second attempt at the SWA Logo, this time with research!
No background, .png file.
White background, .png file.
- Spoiler:
- The rod and snake is a Rod of Asclepius, the traditional symbol for medicine and healing. However, the flower is a Peony, a flower that is supposedly guarded by woodpeckers, which are a symbol of Mars, the God of War. The combination of the two demonstrates the SWA's real function: medical research that makes war. Red also happens to be commonly associated with Mars, hence the red backing to the Rod and Peony.

Remember how I said I was doing my work in OpenOffice Draw because I couldn't afford Creative Suite?
Well, shut my mouth...
Gizmodo was kind enough to share the following:
Well, shut my mouth...
Gizmodo was kind enough to share the following:
Adobe's giving us all a late Christmas present. You can grab yourself a free, legitimate copy of Photoshop and the rest of the Creative Suite 2, right now, direct from Adobe. No catch.
Well, unless you think having an Adobe account is a catch. Anyway, apparently Adobe's tired of keeping the activation servers running to support legitimate installs of the 10-year-old CS2, so it's decided to just give it away. Sounds great to me.
Handy if all you need is a quick image editor, Photoshop CS2 will still do all the basic things, just not the new fancy smart ‘content aware‘ stuff. Free's free, so get over to Adobe.com and get downloading. [Adobe via Twitter]
Update:The install for Mac is actually for Power PC devices, so you'll need Mac OS X v.10.2.8–v.10.3.8 or Rosetta to get it working.

And so, the final chapter header for AtAC:
Which honestly looks like a fairly typical day in the life of Jethro+Monty come to think of it. It's also the first one which hasn't had a sketched thumbnail on paper to work of...
...actually, not quite, there were two thumbnails: one quite busy and detailed, the other quite minimalist... this is the middle ground.

With my recent rant about making ePubs out of our work, I decided to split the 38 chapters (at current time) that comprises the two 'volumes' of my primary OC fanfic, A Triumph of the Heart into two separate volumes. I always disliked the original artwork, and couldn't find the source file, so I decided to go with a theme for the replacements.

This is for Henrietta's Christmas story, A Gift Repaid. TSM suggested I post a CC Christmas story per year. I doubled up last year for Rico and Triela to make up for my first year.
