Help Cherubino! Empty Help Cherubino!

Post by Cherubino Wed 16 Nov 2011 - 0:16

Hey all!

So I need some help. I am VERY stupid, sincerely BELOW AVERAGE, when it comes to technology and all to do with that stuff. I have a mac because I like how the music programs I have run on it, but other than that I have no clue how computers work. That also applies to Microsoft and other computers. They just make no sense to me. But I’m not a grandma at the keyboard either.

Anyway, about a year ago my mac got water all over it (ahem Pharaoh!) and I got a new one. Now instead of spending over $100 to get my data transferred, I just lived with it. Unfortunately, I can’t anymore. I need to switch my ipod around. I have new music I need to out on it and songs that need to come off... Unfortunately, I have no clue how to do that on my itunes. Does anyone think they can help me figure this out?

Thank you so much guys! You are the best!

A CAT5e/6 ethernet cable should get you up and running. Most Windows & Linux laptops have a data transfer feature/application. I imagine that the Mac should be able to do the same. If not, the cable should act as a bridge and be able to transfer files teh old fashioned way.

Simpler:
Connect a fire wire cable to the 2 machines.

Turn on the Drowned Mac while holding down the 'T' key until you see a floating funny looking 'Y' on it. It is now in Firewire Transfer Mode.

Turn on the Good Mac normally. When it gets to desktop, the drowned mac's harddrive icon will appear on the desktop. Access it normally and drag files to the good Mac's drive.

Also I should have specified that I wanted to take my songs from my ipod to my mac. It seems easier no?

I've always been a fan of Senuti - http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/.

The trial lets you download 1000 songs.

Thing is I have the usb chord to plug in the ipod. My ipod opens up with itunes and it won't let me sync my ipod. It's saying it's connected to another itunes library and won't let me bring my itunes off my ipod to my itunes. Is there a way to get the itunes off the ipod as mp3s and the bring the mp3s into my itunes?

Senutil has that functionality, to my knowledge. It can download songs from an iPod to your HDD and then you can re-import them into iTunes.

Awww Kisk if that's true then YOU ARE THE BEST! I will have to try that on a rainy day. I wish I were smart with technology like you guys were.

Google <3

But seriously, the "technologically minded"? 99% of the time we just google the problem - most people could do most of what we do, if they realised how much info is out there on the interwebs Very Happy
