Clothing halp halp

So, I have my eye on two items of clothing - a coat...

I'm seventeen inches from shoulder tip to shoulder tip, and thirty-five inches around my chest. My shoe size is a US size nine. I'd be inestimably grateful if you guys could help me answer this question: what size coat and boots should I buy?

Shoes I'm afraid I can't really comment on: sizing differs so much from manufacturer to manufacturer. Example: my Aquila dress shoes are a nine, but my steel cap work boots are tens, they're both Aussie brands an in Armani I'm about a 9.5.

As to the coat: general rule of thumb is to get the shoulders right as they're the most difficult (read costly) to alter. Bringing the bust and waist in are resonably simple. Don't know how you'd go with that particular coat though, there doesn't seem to be that many places you could neatly hide some adjustment. My instinct would be to fit the shoulders though.

I'm not sure about your size measurements, just get around the size you wear now I suppose. It's a pain buying clothes online since you can't try them on. -_-

The store is in HK so the sizing might be a bit off too. Based on your measurements the M.L is what you want to get because of your shoulders.

The shoes I can't say. I have size 10 Vans that fit perfectly and size 8.5 military dress shoes that fit too.

Go ahead and buy yourself one of those coats, Tri - I ain't stopping ya!

Update: I've bought the boots in a size nine and a half; will be buying an M.L. coat later today. Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Found another awesome coat on the Bay. No doubts about sizing this time. Soon, I shall be the best-dressed kid on my block.

I can honestly say I can flash anything from a three piece suit to a garbage bag(which I used to make a Bob-omb costume one Halloween) ). Wearing an outfit with confidence will make any outfit look chic.

I'm not so sure about the sizing for the second coat now. The one I had my eye on fits my chest pretty well, but it's a little over an inch wider on the shoulders. Again, I'm thirty-five around the chest, seventeen from shoulder tip to shoulder tip.

Second jacket arrived today. The first made me feel elegant; this one makes me feel like I'm the most dangerous guy in my neighborhood. It's got a very aggressive look to it. If the other jacket was the female of the species, this one is definitely the male. I shall introduce them to one another and declare them legally wed.

Can't wait for the boots.

So. My boots are FINALLY being shipped out, a little over two months after I made the order. I was worried I'd been ripped off. Will post pics once they arrive.
