Model Kits
I'm basically creating this to show of my new model kit, but I figure this thread ought to have at least a bit of usefulness beyond that.
Anyhow, this is a 1/72 scale model kit I picked up at my local anime convention in August. It depicts the VF-25F Variable Fighter flown by Alto Saotome in Macross Frontier (actually, he technically flew two different VF-25Fs with this color scheme -the first one was destroyed early in the series). It's not a difficult kit to make since it snaps together and requires very little painting thanks to color molded parts and a set of stickers(although a few of the details which could use a bit of paint are ultra fine -the pilot in the cockpit, for instance). It was time consuming to build though because there are A LOT of parts, many of which aren't that obvious because they're part of the internal structure and hidden by the external parts.
Here are some photos of it in Fighter mode. Funnily enough I think it looks better in this mode in pictures than it does in real life:
The photos I took of it in GERWALK mode last week didn't turn out so well, so I took some new ones in it's new place of honour on the shelf above my desk. As such, you also get to see a bit of the rest of my mecha collection. I actually generally don't think of myself as a big mecha fan, but I love Macross Frontier and Full Metal Panic (the smaller figurine is of the ARX-7 Arbalest piloted by Sousuke Sagara in that series), and the Tachikomas from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex are awesome, so...
And finally here it is in Battroid mode (which is the mode it's currently in, though I think I'll likely shift it back to Gerwalk for display). I'm not sure if I've quite mastered posing it in this mode yet. I might have an easier time getting a good pose if I had a display stand for it.
Are you feeling lucky, punk?
Yes, I had some fun taking these pictures...

Welcome to the modelers' club, Piero; that Veritech fighter is a beaut. I'm a total sucker for this stuff, and I think it's an easy bet we aren't alone.
Pics related: my King Tiger (Henschel turret, ambush camo) and Zero-sen (Shigeru Itaya colors).
When I get back home in three weeks' time, I'm gonna Gunpla up this bitch. My mobile suit army remains unphotographed to date. Sieg Zeon!

Re: Model Kits
I finished my 1/100 MG God Gundam with panel lining.
Models on the pipeline which are gonna be held up due to paint.
MG Qubeley
PG GP-01
MG Nu
MG AV 98 Ingram
Resin kit Brunhild
In the world of Macross variable fighters, I prefer the Yamato prebuilt ones. Buying the 1/60 YF-19 was the highlight of my trip to Japan 3 years ago.

Re: Model Kits
Here are some models from my Warhammer 40,000 Tyranid army.

A Hormagaunt

A Genestealer
[img][/img]
A Hive Guard

And just for giggles, here is a pack of my poor Genestealers trying (and failing ) to kill my friends Dreadnaught. You also get a look at some of my earlier paint jobs in this pic I'm sorry to say...

Re: Model Kits
I see no problem with your painting, man. Those Tyranids look great.
Aww yeah, Warhammer 40K. It's a good game with a good backstory and has always fascinated me. Orks are my favorite. However, I continuously find myself unable to justify shelling out so much money for figurines that have little articulation, average little more than an inch tall in terms of height and require both assembly and painting. If Games Workshop come up with a line of action figures that are, say, at least G.I. Joe size, I'd be all over that like flies on shit.
Also, Nuke - you have a Master Grade Qubeley? Blast you. I have a Qubeley, too, but all my robots are High Grade. Mine's Haman's original suit; what version is yours?

Re: Model Kits
I've played 40K since I was nine - I applied to work in a Hobby Centre before going into the TA instead, and moderated the 40K forum over at Relicnews for a few years. I'm not a great moddler, and in any case I don't have any of my miniatures to hand, but I do spend a ruinous amount of money on sourcebooks and novels... eh, I'll make it back once I get a submission to the Black Library accepted.

Re: Model Kits
A group of my friends got into it in High School and we loved it. Then we all got DEBT and 40k had to take a backseat. Now, only two of us have enough remaining models and time to ever play any games: my Tyranids against his Space Wolves/Tau basicly. We cheat and proxy units with little paper cut outs or other models not currently in use and our terrain...well, it makes use of imagination.

I have Haman's suit, I'm planning to use a pearl finish for the Qubeley for mine.

I don't recognise the first one, but I do remember the second one from 008th MS Team. (I haven't seen very many of the older Gundam shows yet -I have seen 008th because it was one of the ones that I was told to watch when I asked which ones were good.)

Re: Model Kits
The first one, Piero, is the amazing Kampfer from War in the Pocket - a series just as worth a watch as The 08th MS Team (my personal favorite) is. I suggest you watch it soon.
It's the performance of a mobile suit on-screen that largely influences my decision to buy a toy of it. Norris Packard is a god among men, and Kampfer pilot Mikhail Kaminsky is also pretty damn boss.

Christina MacKenzie made Gundam 0080 solid, but it would have been so much better if that brat had been killed.

IKR? When Mikhail and Christina were duking it out and when the latter was duking it out with Bernie, I was hoping one of them would just step on that little shit Alfred. On purpose or by accident, I don't give a damn how.

My Variable Fighter collection is still in it's infancy (and likely to remain so for a while due to limited funds, time, and shelf space) which may explain why I just went with the basic version of the main character's unit. Then again, I was considering possibly buying the armour pack equipped version of Ozma's fighter, so I guess I do kind of understand. Fortunately for my budget the dealer at the convention didn't have an Armour Pack equipped version of Ozma's VF-25 (the Armour Pack kits are really expensive).

Yeah, which one is that? It is a canonical mech or a custom one?

Canonical. The Heavyarms Custom from Gundam Wing. Hate that show, but love the robot designs. Especially the Deathscythe Hell.

Re: Model Kits
I've been prompted to post my Warhammer 40k armies on here, so here goes
I still have my tyranid army from the starter set, below:
I'm most proud of how the spore mine spawn points came out:
Decided to do some of the Genestealers and Termagaunts differently (read: I got bored of having everything a sandy colour):
And a close-up of the main guys:
I did the terrain a different colour, incidentally, because my sister (who took the space marines) decided to do their bases pink >_<. So I figured, why not go for something completely different for the terrain?
Now for the Dark Eldar - this is the army that I'm maintaining (though I can't really claim that anymore, I haven't played for two years - but I will. I think ). Overall, with the upgrades, it comes out to nearly 1000 points. I need to finish painting my wyches and a jetbiker (for my HQ unit).
Let's start with the bulk this time, the warriors!
There is a reason I got a raider. I forget why though...
You may notice that a couple of the warriors are headless
I kinda lost my plastic cement... Here are the heads!
And now for the mandrakes - they're amazingly useful
The wyches - I'll get round to painting the other 8 at some point - then I'll have a reasonable number of close combat units XD
The Hellions - these guys were so hard to do :/
It was annoyingly difficult to keep them together whilst the glue dried - half of them are now broken as a result
(I'm only gonna show you guys the good half )
Same goes for my Talos, the stick that holds the thing up snapped and now I can't get it back on
Oh, and it's gun fell off, too. Couldn't hold that on whilst taking the photo...
Love the fact that it's got a space marine head on it though XD
And last but not least, the Ravager. These things are lethal!
Took me about a week to paint that thing - worth it though. Easily my favourite unit

For all you War in the Pocket fans, you should get the joke.
I'm thinking of buying either a HG GP 03 or a resin kit of the Brunhild from Legend of the Galactic Heroes next.
