read it when I was 12, until they went on that 2 year hiatus
then, kind of forgot about it...
It for some reason popped up into my mind recently.
so im catching up on the manga now

Welcome to the forum! Actually there's a number of girls on the forum as well; I think GSG is a story that can appeal equally well to either gender. You can watch the anime on Hulu or Youtube if you're interested.

I'm going to back Kodoku here: I reckon that GSG has a crossgender appeal since it manages to run a fair bit deeper than "girls with guns". That said though, I think the anime fanbase in general is more stereotypically male so...

Fun fact: the general anime crowd is slightly more female than male. On another related note, the number of female and male visitors to the Dungeons & Dragons wiki is almost exactly a 50% split between each. There really isn't much of a gender gap, even in tabletop games.
