HOLY Crap!
How would a star fleet captain smell like? Sterile from the environment of being in a starship?

I'd assume Kirk smells like 1/2 promiscuous green alien babes and 1/2 smug self-satisfaction.

The main character from the original Star Trek TV series (Captain Kirk) was played by William Shatner who is as full of himself as anyone in Hollywood can get, and it shows on screen. As a result, the original Kirk is know as an arrogant, vain, self-centered guy who thinks the world of himself.akaciparaci wrote:hmmm, i don't really get what's going on, since in my place star trek hold no meaning

Notably he has made millions of dollars playing himself in various series. Nathan Fillion seems to be following a similar path... but without being quite such an arse about it.
As to the cologne... I'm afraid I'll have to pass.

I am curious, but I'm not a huge cologne guy. I do think it's a bit of marketing brilliance, though. Even the bottle has a bit of 60's futuristic look. Not to mention that Trekkies will buy ANYTHING.

Re: Don't just look awesome...smell awesome...
As a fan of both franchises, do we really need to get into this?
There was some jerkwad who basically decided to do a bunch of analysis of the power level of Star Wars ships by doing things like calculating how much energy would be needed to vaporise an asteroid the way a Star Destroyer did in one scene and stuff. Which is fine, if a bit nerdy... but then he went and decided to use this on a site dedicated to proving Star Wars ships were more powerful than Star Trek ones. He also was incredibly disrespectful towards people who didn't agree with his assessment and took franchise bashing to absolutely massive levels.
Now, I'm not good enough at physics to really be able to prove or disprove what he said (the guy really thought highly of his background in that stuff if some of the things he said elsewhere were any indication. He assessement of a line in The Next Generation where Picard told Data that the real important thing was understanding stuff like Shakespeare was basically something along the lines of "This is just a bunch of arts majors bitching about the fact that their subject area is no longer the important one."). However, I think there's an important question to consider: what point is there to judging the power levels of ships using our laws of physics when both franchises have a tendency to be highly unrealistic and break the laws of physics?
(Edit: I should note, I have a pretty high respect for people who are truly good at things like physics and math, I've sometimes wished I was better at them myself. But I do not think they're the sole determinant of a person's worth -or even the most important one, for that matter.)
The guy actually used his figures in some crossover fanfic he wrote. He actually deliberately included them in a conversation where some Starfleet officer got a report from a subordinate analysing an Imperial warship and basically ended up slowly coming to realise said warship completely outclassed anything starfleet had in terms of fighting power. My view -if you're going to write a Star Wars/Star Trek crossover fic, screw excessive analysis and just set the power levels to something that'll serve a good story. The point of the fic shouldn't be propaganda to "prove" that one franchise is better than the other.
Okay, rant mode off...

Re: Don't just look awesome...smell awesome...
it's all the same, i think
like the case where many gamers (and anime fans) argue whether dubs or subs is superior to each other
both sides just decide that they can't accept their differences, and thus acting like a bunch of babies, while actually there is nothing worth arguing
it's just a matter of opinion and accepting others views, if a person fail to do this basic living skill, well.... let's say he'd had difficult time socializing with people who don't share the same perspective as he does
yup, wise-man-pretend mode off...

Agreed. Although Star Trek is an awesome franchise with very few missteps to the canon(i.e. Deep Space Nine); the Star Wars mythos is just plain deeper and gets much more so with each passing year.
