Fanfic RPG
Well, I have been fixing to make this for a long time, and just as a change of pace, I have actually started on this.
I am going to make 'Legend of the Swordsman' into a privative Roll Playing Game.
Though it will take quite a while before the whole RPG is complete, I have created a small Preview Demo.
Download it here
Everything will be explained once you start playing the game.

Wow. I have a slow connection, so I've not started it yet, but out of interest: What did you use to make it? Or did you code it from scratch?
EDIT: It says "Failed to load archive"
Wine bug, or the game?

The package successfully extracted itself, but it doesn't seem to run under my Windows XP VM.

I have no Idea why it says that.

Just run the 'Game.EXE' because it isn't compatible with VM
Whatface wrote:I'm guessing Tommy made it with RPG Maker?
RPG Maker XP 1.02a to be exact.
As far as I am aware, it works just fine on its own.
So any feed back?

Re: Fanfic RPG
I'm guessing, in that case, that it just doesn't like any sort of emulation...
Meh, I'll try it once I fix Windows (I didn't break it... Ok fine, I did.)

Re: Fanfic RPG
Just finished playing it. Too bad there's no combat yet.

Ok, with this, I noticed that you are able to walk into objects that you're not supposed to. I don't know if its possible to fix or if you're still working on it. But I just thought I'd point them out.
Are you supposed to step on the keyboard?
These wall sections and medic-look-a-like-things are able to be walked on.
The Dojo walls don't work at all.

This last thing I'm about to point out isn't an error. Its more of a personal preference thing.
But I think this place is FRIGGIN HUGE!!
I've seen this in quite a few user made RPGs. The environment is massive, but there is little or no scenery. Not only is it dull, but it takes ages to walk from one place to another.
I don't mind dull, but its the taking ages to get somewhere that really gets to me.
I know the mansion isn't finished. But even if you do fill it with objects, I still suggest you really cut down on the size.
The outside is fine, though I still think the path could be smaller. It reaches all the way to the bottom of the screen, so people are going to think there's more at the bottom. But theres nothing there.
I'm the kind of person that likes to explore the entire place, so its not very cool for me when I walk all the way over there only to find it empty. I personally don't find a whole screen of tiles very interesting either .
Again, I know its not completed, I'm just pointing things out.
==========================================
Well, that's all I gotta say. Looks promising, hopefully you're going to add combat in soon.
Good luck with that.

Your not the only one, I got WinXP as well, because I dont like Vista all that much.
Bill gates will have to give me a bar of pure gold before I install Vista on my pc willingly.
@ all your comments. Yeah... the Japanese tileset still needs tuning, so does the one that I used for the mansion.
And of course, I still need to tune the AutoTile's.
but as mentioned, its a Demo, nothing is final.
also, the Japanese Exterior has no tuning to it at all yet, its just a paint job at the moment.
Thanks for pointing out the Typo's though, my English is still Dutch bad here and there. but its better then some native English I've known.
Also, this game's main focus isn't on combat, but on telling a story with combat beside it.
Anyway, glad you like it so far.

Tell me about it
It's fair enough when it isn't your first language or you have dyslexia or something like that, but otherwise there should be no excuse...
Anyway, I'll probably end up fixing Windows either tomorrow or over the weekend, so I'll give you some feedback then...

Re: Fanfic RPG
What compatibility mode? I've already set it to run by default in XP, and it's using all of my hardware as is. Dunno why it isn't working though (Wine App DB entry for it)...
