Saying Hi
So I'm a lurker who recently came out of hiding to apologise to Tommy, and saying I would try to be less shy, well, the first thing to do seems to be to introduce myself.
I only got into GSG a year or so ago, when a really good friend of mine showed me the anime. I identified so much with the girls that I started searching for more. When I found out there was manga in Japan that hadn't been released here, I started looking online for more. I can read German and French aside from English, so I was very sure I could find European versions to translate for myself. And I started learning Japanese at home just in case they stopped publishing it in Europe too ^^ But I found this site instead, and the awesome scanlations, so I started lurking here...
Now less of a lurker ^^; Hi!

Re: Saying Hi
I know how being shy can effect people. I know from experience because I'm really shy as well. (I couldn't even talk to a boy I liked and I was in a 6 week art program with him!)
Being on a forum can be hard to take. You sometimes wonder if your posts are good enough, or don't think people will respond to you, or listen to what you have to say. Sure threads die, or sometimes people just forget to respond back, but that's part of what makes the forum go 'round. Here on the Gunslinger Girl forum every one is welcome, and no one is judged.
We have people of all ages, and different countries with different tastes and interests, but you can really open up here.
So don't be so shy here. Just be yourself and have fun.
Welcome to the Gunslinger Girl boards! ^_^

Heck, some of the guys and gals even know some of each others private details.

Hello there! Yeah German!
I´m very shy too but imagine this: You´re writing and not talking so you can correct things before you´re posting (so don´t be afraid that the words
are jumbling out of your mouth without thinking That´s often my problem...)
When someone is talking to me I´m collapsing and then I don´t have time to think......
Well........WELCOME!!!!

Re: Saying Hi
Wow, this is a really amazing welcome, thanks to all of you ^^
And emporer: Claes serously rocks ^^
Both of the Triela's have it pegged, I'm always afraid that what I am thinking to post is stupid. And it's even worse in real life, heh. Just this morning I had to leave an answer machine message and I just know I repeated myself a million times
But yus, posting on a forum should be easier =D So long as I don't fall into the re-reading and deleting my post trap...!

Welcome darksnowwhite.
I also find it easier to talk on a forum because I have trouble talking to people that I am not familar with face to face since I am a really shy person. I have trouble meeting new people. When I talk to people I don't know, say during class if I have to get up to speak, I get really nervous to the point where I can't control myself and my legs actually start to wobble and my voice sounds really shakey.
Girls are a whole different story. I have next to zero confidence in that area. I always had trouble talking to girls that I like ever since I was a little kid. I've been approach by girls who would give me their numbers, but I would never class them back because I wouldn't know what to say. You know how it is.... it's complicated.
The only time when I am not too nervous or shy to meet new people is when I see another rollerblader at a skatepark or street spot. I guess its because we rollerbladers share an unspoken bond or brotherhood since our sport is so small. I not sure how to explain it, but thats the only time where I am not afraid to approach another person
