I always had the feeling that Hillshire took care of all the formal education... but now that I think about it, what qualifies him to do so?

"Uh yeah do some math or something. Y'know what? I don't really care. At least pretend to be learning when people come and check on us."
15 minutes later he looks at his watch.
"Guess what girls? Study Break! All of you get to sit here and do nothing while me and Petra take our break in that supply closet over there"

girl gang bang....
Going straight to hell.
I can understand why the girls are taught things like language, basic math, reading, writing. Most of those are skills that a person needs to function in modern society. Language is the only one that isn't, and that's something an assassin would find helpful. Do you think the girls learn anything else though? Hilshire clearly taught some Shakespeare. Was that just to teach english, or where they actually learning literature.
I wouldn't teach my brainwash little assassins much. The less the know the less likely they are to think. Thinking is bad. So does the agency actually educate, or just teach the minimum. Does Hilshire try to open their eyes to the world with the classics, or just do his job?

Re: How many subject for girls there?
Perhaps Hilshire, at least the way I see him, is the kinda stuffy boring person who actually likes giving lectures on stuff. (Anyone who's gone or in college know these kinda people exist.)
So not so much they feel the need to educate, but there is just that uncontrollable urge to broaden horizons.
Besides, what else can you do to keep a bunch of adolescent girls busy during the day besides playing classical instruments and gardening? It's not like they can pop down to the local pizzaria or play putt-putt. It just might be habitual that you put children through school.
Keep 'em in the books, keep 'em outta trouble (though not that they would with all the fun brainwashing they're getting. )

actually, it's pretty essential in Europe. Imagine living in Montana and speaking English, but people in the surrounding states spoke danish, swedish, french, russian and italian. Even if you never leave your state, learning an extra language or six is rather important.... Language is the only one that isn't...

considering the man's personality, and his current situation... I'd say he's trying to turn them into more 'complete' people. Giving them some small semblance of normalcy. I think all of the original handlers did that in their own way. Giuseppe with his star gazing and retelling of myths, Marco with his Pasta Prince story, Raballo with his books... even Jean tried to impart a bit of philosophy to Rico: "what matters is what you do with the time you have"-regarding Ange's impending doom.Does Hilshire try to open their eyes to the world with the classics, or just do his job?

No the original handlers either tried to give them some semblance or normalcy, or tried to distance themselves from their 'tools.' Jean doesn't give Rico normalcy, he merrily allows it to happen some times. Important distinction. His 'philosophy' he gifts to Rico is merrily to keep is tool from getting depressed. I believe he still acknowledges the issue of moral.

Since he came from EuroPol, he has to have a College Education and a degree or two. Here in the states, you can not teach unless you have a degree in something.... anything... even if it does not match the field of your study. :|
Its good that the girls get some former education...

Their safety glasses to protect her eyes. I'm sure it's redundant for the girls, but it saves on maintenance so it pays of in the end.

You could also interpret it with Giuseppe saying "Work on your punctuation", as Henrietta's dialogue might actually ought to have incorporated an ellipsis between the first 'are' and the number '3'.

She probably can since that digit of hers is so small, it can enter in and out the trigger guard without hitting it.

Henrietta and the girls lost in the old wild west?

Re: How many subject for girls there?
bah. there's too much of an ideal of 'fairness' to the fighting in those stories. Any of the girls would kill all of those people simply because they wouldn't be caught in a standoff.-An accident time travel story where the girls are thrown into 1860 Tombstone Arizona, where they meet the fastest guns in the west, only to prove them wrong!
e.g. While the idiots stand in the middle of the street shouting "coward", our young heroine would find a nicely concealed position and just shoot 'em. Anybody else shouts coward and pulls a gun... well, shoot them too. I could see an old west massacre happening in this story.
funny, how we can go from 'Cyborg Education' to 'Etta's Tombstone Massacre' in 7 posts.

No one is going to be calling coward on the girls. Why? The number of actual duel at high noon are so small I could count them on one hand. The girls would be do the exact same thing most other gunslingers of the day did. Well sans blocking bullets.

Oh, I realize that what people actually did and what 'westerns' depict as having happened are two different things... I just like the idea of taking characters from my favorite story and putting them into my least favorite action genre... but I don't think they'd 'prove that they're faster' than anyone... they'd just prove that they're smarter, more precise, and more ruthless.

Ah I see. I am compelled to agree, they continue their 'under handed' fighting style. However I've always believed there is no such thing as an unfair fight. I like to think most cowboys believed that too.

most cowboys herded cattle. they fought rustlers, sure, but that was just tussling over property. I'd say most outlaws and bounty hunters thought like that, though.Wileama wrote:I like to think most cowboys believed that too.
