So, seen as this is a music section, what instrument (if any) do you play and how good are you?
I'm a pianist myself, though I'm not that good :(

Re: Instruments
I've been playing and self-taught myself guitar for about 6 years now (I'm no Jimi Hendrix, but I'm decent) and these are the two guitars I have:
Sigma Acoustic
Starburst Fender w/ humbucker pickup
I need to get (or borrow) the right equipment in order to record myself playing "God Knows" by Aya Hirano.
I also used to do *cough*highschool band*cough*

I play the ocarina. (It's a Zelda one. Blue with the Triforce) It's just a hobby of mine. I like it. ^_^
I used to play the piano, but it was never a favorite thing to do. Ever since I saw GSG I've been wanting to play the violin, but I know it would only to be for fun, not to take lessons.

Woah! That's amazing Farbanti!! I wish I could be musical like that.
Oh yeah my mom also says I have a great singing voice but I don't think so. -_-;;

Wah! Farbanti, the talent for such young age!
I've been an opera singer from 12 years, a pianist for 14 years, cellist for 15 years and a violinist for 9 years.
My parents threatened me to stick it, and it kind of paid off in the end. XP

My coach is rough. I would spend saturdays with a tub over my head so I learn how to make my voice resonate like bell. He made me do fifty crunches before I can start vocalizing. >.< It was torture!
You will, if you have to try all of the instruments! At least, you will be a multi-talented musician who can play every instrument!!

Haha, I hear you! I'm lazy with my practicing too! My parents are the reason why I now fell into a routine. All the threats of belts, and no playtime! THE AGONY! I was six, and all I could think of was what tree I should climb next!

Re: Instruments
Music is kind of my chief pleasure in life. ^_^ Embarrassingly, though I play several instruments, I can't for the life of me read a piece of sheet music in any key other than C, with anything shorter than sixteenth notes (I've been chided for that by my teachers my whole career).
I play the violin (my primary instrument) [seven years], viola (the instrument I played in the orchestra this year) [one year], the cello [one year], the piano [altogether, five years, but I quit at age eight (I loathe practicing any instrument) and only took it up again for fun two years ago], the accoustic guitar [one year], and I sing [four years in an actual choir].
I'm a big fan of the music in Gunslinger Girl, and Henrietta's violin theme (you all know the one, but it has several names on the soundtrack for all its variations) was one of the first pieces I played in high school on the violin - as well as one of the few songs I've never grown bored with, no matter how many times I play it. It's so beautiful! *_*
Here are pictures of my instruments; I don't own a cello (woe!), but that's next on the list.
First and foremost, my Baby (she's a bit of a camwhore; I put her all over the internet), my pride and joy, the violin:
Her name's Cossette; she was made in 1612 and has been in the family since 1911, a German copy of an Amati with an Oxblood finish. (Why yes, I am obsessed with my violin.) The bow is a medium-quality viola bow; I don't use my violin bow because it's both ancient and cheap, which isn't a good combo.
(PS, if you guys reeeally want me to spoilercut this one, too, I will, but I don't have the heart to do it without being asked. ;__;
The piano, which is excellent therapy (though addictive) and the instrument I play second-most:
The viola:
Lastly but not least, the guitar (her name's Vivica):
Sorry about the picspam, but I'm quite fond of showing off all of them except the viola. It's a little ugly. :(

- Spoiler:
She's a Hamilton upright and has been in the family since the 1920s. Beyond that I know nothing - I'm not familiar with piano specs.
The viola:
- Spoiler:
I love the sound of a good viola, but this is not a good one. German copy of a Strad, made in the 1940s. I should be getting one with a much richer sound and that's more aesthetic very soon, though.
Lastly but not least, the guitar (her name's Vivica):
- Spoiler:
Mom got me this for Christmas last year, but I only started playing it this year at school. I'm very fond of it. A Walden D351SR, not actually as bright as it looks - it's a deeper red than that. Made in 2007.
Sorry about the picspam, but I'm quite fond of showing off all of them except the viola. It's a little ugly. :(

I can relate to that. I can read music (Piano format) but it takes me forever to translate that into what my hands can understand. I don't know many songs but it's very pleasureable. I can twist guitar sheets into piano chords giving me some edge on the music making area. I also play a whole lot of instruments also violin, piano, vocals, harmonica, guitar just to name a few. You're actually someone that I can relate to when it comes to music. My parents always get on my case when I don't play traditionally. >.<

I've played piano for eight years, trumpet for three years and french horn for two.
I play pretty much anything on piano, and french horn mainly for school band. Whenever the trumpet section's running short I step in.
I also sang in a choir and did some handbells for a couple years, but I'm not good at all...just for fun.

All of us were forced to play some sort of instrument, in my family >.< That and a multilingual home life was supposed to *expand our minds* or summat like that.
I don't know. All i know is that i was forced to take piano lessons for years, and only recently stopped because sports got in the way. I can sight read and play anything thta i really want to, it just takes differnet lengths of time for me to learn the peices based on the difficulty of the peice. I was taught with the Suzuki method, meaning more by ear and less by music, so it's not too terribly hard for me to hear a piano peice and then later on figure it out ( based on sound) on the piano.
It's not my favorite past time, but something i can revert to now and again when i'm feeling particularly *musical*, lol. But i'm no Mozart.

I am a violinist myself, though I have not touched the bow and strings in a year.
@Miiko: Naming your instrument seems fun -- what made you decide on these names? I toyed with naming my violin Lucila a while back, but ultimately cannot decide on a name meaningful enough.
