Sakura's Art Empty Sakura's Art

Post by Sakura Thu 8 May 2008 - 3:48

Recently I've been doing some random sketches and thought I'd share some pieces with everyone. I don't really have a specific style since I like to draw what comes to mind. With that, I hope you all like them! Besides GSG fanart, I might also include other works if I get around to it.

Triela Sketch (I saw this pic in a magazine and wanted to see how well I could sketch it. I think it came out alright.)

Sakura's Art Triela21

Claes Sketch (While I like all the girls, Triela and Claes are my top two favorites. I drew a Chibi-Triela not that long ago as an appreciation gift for Tommy and since then I've wanted to try draw one of Claes. The book on the table is what Claes was reading when she went on a fishing trip with Raballo)

The Triela pic is nice--but I don't quite like the eye. Reminds me of the Triela in Il Teatrino, and I have to say the first artwork in Gunslinger Girl anime is better.

Yes, you are right. Probably should have emphasized it more, but I thought it was obvious since Beatrice is known for sniffing explosives. Yea, I know it's corny humor.

Originally I had Yotsuba sketched out and was thinking of who'd go great with her. Initially I was thinking Petra (LOL, I'm not a hater!), but after Elfen's no nose joke I realized Beatrice would fit the bill nicely.

Panzer-The reference pic I used was from Yu Aida's more recent work, which is similar to the art in Il Teatrino.

Ah don't worry about it, Panzer. But you do have a point about Yu Aida's art work. Ever since Volume 9 it does appear to be more cute with the large eyes and his change in style. Of course plot wise it definitely is not for a younger audience.

I'll second that notion!

I know my way around photoshop to edit the frames for the scanlation, taking the Japanese In drawing text out.

Yet, When the drawing is in color, then I'd have a problem.
so your coloring attempt... Well lets just say, Its not an Attempt, Its the finishing touch in a masterpiece. because it really looks that good.

I normally use photoshop for research to fix up and add text for figures and gel pics. I really need to learn all the features for it, but haven't the time. Thanks guys that you like the colored picture. I've been playing around with it when I can so expect a few more color pics in the future.

@ Whatface- I don't mind if you want to photoshop it since I'd love to see what you can do. You can credit me for the initial sketch.

Eh...what to say about the following picture...

Ribbons of Fate- Hillshire/Triela sketch (My first attempt at the Hillshire/Triela fratello pair. I'm a bit torn over what to think about where they stand in the relationship so I guess it came out in the drawing as well. I had the ribbon represent their fate since there is a strong bond tying the two together. I had seperate ribbons behind to indicate a past fate each had prior to meeting one another. I made it so they look like they're lying down on a sheet because without that, it looked kinda weird (like they were floating). Btw, it's meant to be a clean picture (so please, no explicit comments). Yea, I don't know what else to say. I'm not good with words and I feel as if I'm confusing myself more trying to explain it.)

The 'Ribbons of Fate' is excellent!

Triela is portrayed beautifully! I love it! Very Happy

Hillshire was Ok...the big butt is what seems to bother me though, but good job!

@photoshopped Angelica

Its lovely, but I might add a little more glow under her feat; as if her prayer is like one of those abilities in RPG games like Ar Tonelico or Atelier Iris.

Overall, its great!

Um...I like big butts? Laughing j/k j/k Hillshire was a tough one to draw and I think the contrast in colors makes the area stand out more since one of my earlier drafts it wasn't as apparent. Thanks guys for your critique and liking the sketch.

@whatface- I love your photoshopping skills! It's so pretty and the glowing effects are nice! I originally had her wearing a one piece dress, but it's fine the way you did it.

Anyone up for coloring?

In the Ninja Claes topic by Sasahara, I thought the concept was cool so I sketched and inked a quick drawing of Ninja Claes. The topic kinda got killed, but seems it's still hanging around. Anyhow, I know there are Claes fans out there and/or people with great coloring/photoshopping skills, so color in Ninja Claes! Come on...I know you want to. (Rusty did something like this on his fanart topic, so why not?) Razz And if a larger picture is needed, I'll upload it.

I'll lend a hand at doing a photoshop version for you. Smile And if at all possible, I'd like the highest resolution/biggest version of the picture as you're willing to let me work on.

If it's really large, you can PM it it to me instead of posting it. Big pictures don't agree with the forum well... Razz (My work usually is in the 2000-3000 to 3000-4000 pixel range...excessive? Probably. Laughing )

Thanks tommy Wink

Unfortunately simply enlarging pictures causes loss in quality, so I'll just go with what Sakura sent me. sweat

I thought she looked kinda like a flapper from the 20s so I tried this approach:

Sakura's Art Ninjaclaeskodokuryuuincqd9

She kinda looks like a genie to me too. Haven't finished cleaning it up yet.

Nice, I wanted to go with a Blue and white theme like Kasumi from DOA. but then again, a Ninja can best wear the colors of the night for consealment.

nice job though.

Eeeh...

Don't take it too personal, but...

I'm not too fond of the Ninja Claes illustration.

I think she would look better if she:

1. Let her hair down
2. Change her footwear--heals is not to go. Socks and sandals (just like a Kunoichi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunoichi, or if you've played 'Red Ninja: End of Honor' it makes it easer. That could come in reference about footwear)
3. Change her clothes (A Kimono is much more preferred--shorter one, not passing the knee-caps for greater maneuverability's)
4. No gloves. Getting one tangled or wearing one would cause you to accidentally slip on of your valuable weapon or grip
5. Add some 'Shinobi/Kunoichi accessories like kunais, shurikens, or tetsugens

...and I think that's about it Smile

The things you listed, Panzer, are the reasons I thought she looked like a flapper. (The link is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunoichi by the way, you accidently put a comma in it.) Tommy's coloring makes her look more like a ninja.
