JayBird's Drawings
This thread will be where I put any art I create that I feel is worthy of being seen by others. Most of the stuff I've drawn isn't what I'd consider "worthy", but every now and then I'll make something that I'm actually kind of proud of. Anyway, I have yet to make any real GSG stuff, but I hope to make some at some point in the future. But in the meantime, I give you: Vault Boy, of Fallout series fame.
For those who don't know who he is, I don't feel like explaining right now, so just google him. I have, however, made a comparison of the original art and my version:
I know it's not all that great, but I hope to get better in time and practice. If anyone has any comments, ideas, or suggestions, feel free to post them and I'll gladly take them in.
Also, I hope I haven't broken any forum laws here by posting non-GSG art. Like I said, I will create some once I have the right skills and all, but for now I just want to put something out there and see what people think.

Re: JayBird's Drawings
Thanks Boomer, I appreciate it.
Anyway, I got a new Vault Boy-style piece here:
I couldn't think of a body for this one, so I just kept it as a head. But I must say, I really like how this one came out, especially the hair and the shape of the head. What do you guys think?

His head's misshapen. Work that out and you might have something great going.

You mean the ones in the first post, right? If so, then yes, they are. I'll probably redo them soon, maybe sometime tomorrow.Nachtsider wrote:His head's misshapen. Work that out and you might have something great going.

Word for the wise: sketch lighter first. You can see on those pics where you've had to erase a few times. So work really lightly (like, with the pencil only just touching the paper) untill you figure out the lines you happy with, then bulk those out with heavier pencil.
Good start man, keep it up.

Thanks for the advice. I'll remember that when I redo the first two pictures.Alfisti wrote:Word for the wise: sketch lighter first. You can see on those pics where you've had to erase a few times. Re: JayBird's Drawings
That last one DOES resemble a Vault-Boy "FFFFFUUUUUUUUU" face. Not sure what would cause the normally imperturbable VB to MAKE that face, but still... *grins*

You mean this one, Charon?
I'm not really seeing the resemblance, but I guess art is always open to interpretation, or something...
Also, I redid the "thumb-up" Vault Boy pic today, but I don't have access to a scanner at the moment. Hopefully I'll have one by the end of tomorrow, so stay tuned.

Re: JayBird's Drawings
Good news and bad news, everyone.
Bad news: I didn't get my scanner today, so I wont be able to put up the improved Vault Boy pic tonight.
Good news: I have created three new pictures! Two of them are of a certain creature from a certain video game, and the third is of a certain energy weapon from a certain movie. And I'll hopefully have the scanner tomorrow, so if any of you think you know what exactly I drew, place your bets now!

Re: JayBird's Drawings
I finally got the scanner, so here are the things I made.
First up, Vault Boy Version 2.
I think this one looks a lot better than my first attempt. The only thing that ever so slightly bugs me here is that I may have made his head just the least bit too big, but whatever.
Next, Mr. Saturn!
Version 1:
Version 2:
For those of you who don't know what a Mr. Saturn is, it is a species from a game called Earthbound, which I have never actually played. But I thought the Mr. Saturn creatures looked interesting enough for me to draw, and so I did. Zoom!
And last, the Noisy Cricket.
This is a gun used in the Men in Black movies. It is a very, very small weapon, just barely large enough to be operable by human hands. However, once you pull the trigger... I won't lie, shit will get blown up, and there's a good chance that you'll get blown back as well, courtesy of Newton's Third Law.
That's all I have right now, but I will be making more in the future. As always, feel free to comment or give advice, I'd very much appreciate it!

Re: JayBird's Drawings
Got a new one for all of ya.
NCRRanger RRRAAAANGER Helmet from Fallout New Vegas
I dunno if I'm starting to get too far ahead of myself by drawing this, seeing as the reference image I used was so complex and detailed. A lot of said detail is missing from my version, but hey, this is my first time drawing something like this, and I don't think I did too horribly. What are the people's opinions?
