:cheers:So, until a little earlier today I did not know there was a Gunslinger Girl bulletin board. GsG is the second or third anime I watched all episodes of, ATT thanks to IFC On Demand. The few before were Witchblade, Hell Girl and To Heart, don't look for a pattern because there's not really one.

I'm a big fan of SF and fantasy in general, go to local conventions in the Chicago area WindyCon, CapriCon, do convention gophering, programming panels, and staffing one time. My nickname is based on the characater of Tara Maclay from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and yes I know she's a girl; however, I'm a huge BtVS fan.

Favorite fratello is Hillshire/Triela, but like everyone I love Henrietta/Guise. I'm one of the few who don't despise and loathe Jean, and I'm well aware that there are many who do.

You can add me to the list of people who think Jean is interesting . It has been clear for quite a while he is not completely void of emotions (besides vengeance). Besides this, I find the need for revenge, dedication to a single purpose and the absence of the need to make friendships with other people very fascinating.

Welcome to the forum! I love Jean's character - he's very interesting in how he went from a sweet, caring individual to a cold, vengeful person due to a single life-changing event.

Personally I actually quite like Jean's character. Yes the bloke's an arse from time to time, but the place would be boring if everyone were nice happy people.

I didn't like Jean very much, either, but reading the manga has taught my why he's such a strict, cold-hearted man.

And I'm not sure if I agree with everyone disliking Jean, sure he can be a cold butt crumpet kind of guy, but it seems he's softening up a bit when it comes to dealing with Rico.

I thought Hilshire in the first OAV series was the same when he was about to slap Triela for shooting their mark.

But everyone has their opinions, and I respect that.

Considering Triela and Hillshire, right after the incident with the shooting Guise and Hillshire have a talk. That talk between them becomes the basis of Hillshire's and Triela's relationship up til the time she kills Pinnochio. Up til that time Triela's not all 'Hai, Hillshire-san', which even with Guise and Henrietta that's their dominant mode of interaction, Triela is saying pretty regularly 'I'm a cyborg, why can't I just kick his butt into next week'. I didnot really have any coherent or thought out reply. So I'm rambling already.

I have mixed feelings about Jean. He's a great character, well developed, believable. Just not necessarily likable.
