The gold handguns
It's like your OC's handler give one to his cyborg and keep one with him.
Are there something like this happen yet to someone OC?

Those are a definite NO. Try doing a conceal-carry with those and you'd see what I mean. You'll probably end up rubbing black shoe polish on them

Those are Barbecue guns, friend. You wear them at parties and that's pretty much it. Too much glint to be combat practical, not to mention you'll get your ass shot off by friendlies and baddies alike for being so flashy.

I dont understand why people buy such bullshit. Not only does the gun look like its made for wanna-be-shooters teenagers, it also has no advantage in combat or CCW. Its something WE REAL shooters know its crap.

Personally, I think they're a bit much, but on the other hand, it's not like their isn't a historical presedence to some degree. Take a look at the hilts of the swords some people used to carry.

in the armed forces of old, sure. nowadays a gold weapon just makes you easier to identify by people who don't need to cut their way through your men to kill you.

Exactly. In fact, the US army makes it an offence for officers to have clear signs of their rank e.g. saluting, carrying gold-plated M4 rifles, wearing different uniforms etc etc. The reason is very simple:
You never know when a sniper (I hate that word. So many negative connotations) may be watching. Granted they won't be able to see your epaulette but I assure you, if the guy sees a whole division saluting one man, that man would be dead before your hand can touch your eyebrow. Same goes for flashy weapons. For that one you don't even need to wait for someone to salute you.

While they're commonly seen as decadence plunging down into absurdity (the gold-plated AK47s toted by Saddam's brood - cheap tat, glamm'd up - being perhaps the nadir of chintzy tastelessness), I have to admit that I've always have a soft spot for golden guns, even if it's only because "Scaramanga" is perhaps the most memorable name for a villain that's been conceived in all of spy fiction.

Or its been around since leaders stopped having to lead from the front to maintain their position.
The guns are definatly nice as ornaments, or the Walther is at least.

Christopher Lee certainly did a good job of him. I'll always remember Scaramanga's psychiatric report from the book, which claimed that he was gay because he liked guns too much and couldn't whistle. yeah, right.

Re: The gold handguns
Gold guns are nice and cool and all that, but I doubt any sensible gun owner wouldn't carry it about for regular use. What happens if you get blood on it? It might spoil the finish.
Seriously, I would have just blown a small fortune buying the thing. IMHO, I'd frame it up or something behind some breakable glass (BREAK GLASS IF IN MORTAL PERIL... or something).
Still it'll be cool to have a Scaramanga clone in GSG. One bullet, one kill, from that million dollar skill.

Gold is pretty inert. even when mixed with other metals.
One would simply have to wipe the gun down to keep the shine.

That would be true if you're talking about pure gold. At this point I refuse to believe that the handguns are made out of pure solid gold. It's likely that the guns are actually gold plated over some cheaper metal and that can scratch off

Such a gun would not be made out of gold, but be gold plated. Gold is too soft to be made into guns- even when mixed with other metals.MikhailN wrote:ElfenMagix wrote:Gold is pretty inert. even when mixed with other metals.

The plating itself would be as strong as the one could make it. In principle of electrolysis, you can use high voltage to quickly to the plating which would result in a poor product that would flake off (like most cheap and moderate expensive jewelry) or use a low voltage, spend a lot of time in the plating process and have a plating that will survive the tests and riggers of time. Since the second can take months to do, too many go for the first option.

But here is another gold handgun called, Golden Gun. Taken from James Bond movie, The Man with the Golden Gun where golden gun used by infamous assassin, Francisco Scaramanga. The caliber is 4.2mm golden. This magazine capacity is only have 1 shot. These part is also has lighter, cigarette case, cuff link, and a pen. The pen operates as the barrel, the lighter creates the bullet chamber, the cuff link is used as the trigger and the cigarette case forms the butt of the gun.

A gold plated gun is more of a collectors piece, like coins or other collectables. Not all guns are tacticool, lets not bash gun collectors. The same things could be said of our anime collections.
Those 1911s are pimp.
Not something I would want to carry, but very nice on the eyes.

Sorry, I suppose I should have elaborated more.
Gold guns are great collectibles and wall-hangers. My previous statement applies to people who get said gun for the purpose of shooting or intimidation. The extra cash would have been better spent on more guns and a lot of ammo for them.
